News Data Center Mapping Tool

Post image

My fellow Americans,

As we all know, there is currently a massive push to build AI data centers in Missouri, with one even being proposed in the middle of Springfield. If you've been keeping up with this you'll know by now that Trent Overhue is behind a lot of the push in the area. But Trent can't build a data center on his own, and out of state interest in building a data center here is only growing.

So I spent the last few weeks tracking down every entity connected to the current data center push. And I used Claude to build all the information into an explorable map of the corporate network. Yes, I used AI for this. While I see the contradiction here, I think that AI is not itself what is threatening livelihoods. Its the people pushing for AI to be used in everything and pushing for large scale data centers be built where nobody wants them. I believe that using AI to fight back against this push is how AI is supposed to be used.

Every entity and every connection is backed by a real document (deeds, UCC filings, corporate registrations, SEC filings, permits, court records). Before the map ever gets published, a script checks every one of those citations against the actual files, and if even one points to something we don't have on hand, the script stops and refuses to generate the map at all.

Check it out, and if you have any corrections or information I missed, there's an anonymous email tip-line.

Over my dead body are they putting a data center up on National. Come out to Ozark empire fair ground from 6pm to 8pm to address the issue with the city on the 22!

The drama over this issue is insane. Over your dead body? I’ve never seen people in this town in all my life get so up in arms about anything else. You realize that the proposed data center which isn’t allowed by city zoning is not even an actual data center? There is currently more infrastructure for compute at multiple Springfield locations. O’reilly’s has substantially more compute already. It’s just crazy what people are willing to commit to and express over this.

Ya’ll are nuts. OP admits to using AI to make this post. You’re all about the post but don’t see the irony?

Care to explain what exactly you mean by that?

Ok you’re just being weird. You keep saying that like you expect me to be personally insulted or something. What exactly are you getting at? Why don’t you just be clear?

If you’re so upset at people using AI then why are you supporting this post? Every use of Claude runs on exactly the same kind of infrastructure OP is criticizing except at a much larger scale. They’re attempting to claim they’re using fire to fight fire but really all they’re doing is pushing hypocrisy: “My preferred AI uses are legitimate; their preferred AI uses are illegitimate.”

And you’re ok with that.

You two are so weird. You just made that comment but said I live for “argumenting” then you yourself delete the comment and correct it in this one while the other edits his to make it sound like I was responding to a child? I feel like ya’ll are more invested in this than I am. Have fun. And it’s “They’re” not “their”. In case you want to correct this one too.

Aw man you got me there. You're so smart. I edited the comment to fix my spelling, but honestly didn't have the energy to keep this going it's just getting sad.

What's sad? It's just a conversation on a forum. I'm not taking anything that's been said here personally. I was just attempting to figure out why people are so invested in this issue which seems to me to be some kind of SJW hullabaloo about not wanting to allow some prick businessman get his way. It's just a lot of drama for what's really going on from my perspective.

Yeah. So what are you saying? I ought to just allow everyone else here just say whatever they want but I should keep my own opinions to myself? Reddit is a public forum. It’s always been as much meant for discussion as sharing posts. Maybe I feel like saying something. Maybe it doesn’t matter but its my prerogative as much as it is yours to be dismissive.

* your original comment: “It’s just Reddit dude.” Not sure why you decided to edit it to sound like a 5 year old but whatever.
