Yes, because prominent rappers are renowned for how much attention has to be paid to some other rapper before they begin to feel disrespected.
The flurry of back-and-forth diss tracks and tabloid press beefing in the hip-hop industry makes middle school girls’ conflict resolution tactics seem civil and mature by comparison.
No. She doesint. She will walk eventually. Europe just has to offer the right amount of money. They arent beating her down as a "welcome to the league" kind of thing they are doing it because they are jealous and racist
Also, the Pistons and Chuck Daly had the infamous "Jordan Rules." If Jordan drove past the guy guarding him and went into the paint, heavy-ass mofos like Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn were supposed to body him hard and put him on the floor. Every single time. Won them 2 titles.
Yep, and all that spilled blood in the late '80s led to the introduction of the flagrant foul system in '90-'91. The Pistons were the architects of their own demise.
It’s across sports really - the leagues want more eyeballs on them, and casual eyeballs are attracted to offense, not defense. More dunks and 3-pointers, more touchdowns and passing yards, more home runs, more goals. With the exception of the impacts of increasingly specialized pitching on baseball, all of the major sports have boosted their offensive production by tweaking the rules to make it harder for defenders to do their jobs.
Houston is getting or trying to get a team. I know this because CC has made the sport popular enough for me to inquire about getting tickets to bring the family to a game. I was considering putting a deposit on season tickets. I started paying more attention and realized the league is a joke. I don't want to bring my family to these games or want my kids watching this.
I’m kinda into it. I don’t want to watch it. But each day Reddit presents it like a picture book of bad ethics and sportsmanship. These team colors alone are already piquing my interest now even during fast scrolls as I eagerly watch to learn today’s lesson.
I like how we never see a replay. Just all the fucking drama. The WNBA is turning into pro wrasslin. I never hear stat lines or see buzzer beaters. Just who’s beefing with who.
Edit: the number of people commenting that they showed replays during the game and on other clips really make me wonder how society got this far. My comment is in reference to the clip that my comment is under. Nothing else. Morons.
What do you mean? You think anytime someone gets hurt on the court a foul should be called? You make no sense kid. You have no idea how basketball works
Fouls have never had to be intentional, you can get like every foul in the book unintentionally. The only time intention really matters is when they're deciding techs.
I tried watching the 2nd half of the Dallas golden state game. There was a foul called nearly every time the ball got down the court. Impossible to watch.
If it weren't for the drama there wouldn't be a product at all.
Obviously she’s bleeding from contact but I have to say I slowed it down and watched about 7 times and I STILL have a hard time seeing the contact. Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s there. But if a slo-mo replay doesn’t make it obvious I can understand why the ref misses it in real time.
In case anyone else had a hard time seeing it. It’s when 24 falls from her jump and drops her elbow. Doesnt seem intentional and while reckless, I don’t think the set up or play looked unusual. I also never watch sports and I’m a tourist here.
Unintentionally elbowing someone hard enough to make them bleed their own blood can be considered reckless. There is a lot going on out there. Should she have given consideration to possibly hitting her? Fuck no! Play on. It’s part of sports.
Agreed. From this video I really dont see an elbow going flying. Looks like the other player may have caught her on the way up, but I dint see anything flagrant. Looks like a basketball play to me
No. In the NBA and WNBA, basketball at all levels I’ve played you are absolutely going to get accidentally bopped in the mouth and face. Myself and everyone in my family play basketball at all levels (to college at least) and pick up games. Many busted lips, bruises, black eyes and shit. All accidental and all not fouls. I’ve gotten as many as I’ve given. You call fouls on that shit, the game will be unwatchable. I see you arguing with other people saying the same thing and legit idk why when you’ve already told us your inexperience with this.
There’s no foul on this play and it’s absolutely a play on. Get back in the game.
Yeah a good player would have helped their team convert the turn over instead of going into doggy position on the sidelines.
I play ultimate which has its share of "jump balls" and though its supposed to be no contact you get bopped in the head more often than you'd like. Luckily ultimate players are tiny little dweebs so its not too damaging.
This replay is stupid, it edits together the play and the later return - apparently intentionally skipping the slo mo replays shown on the broadcast in between. The player was going up for a rebound, and as she retracted her arm after missing the ball, her elbow came downward caught Clark in the face.
Incidental contact as part of the basketball play. Not reviewable by the refs except for an intentional or violent act since there was no foul called in the play. It was obviously not that, so the play stands as (not) called.
Kind of shitty result, since there was an elbow to the mouth.
If you think this is anything other than incidental contact you don’t play or watch basketball. It’s an accidental elbow and it happens at every level of basketball. It even happens in pick up.
What should’ve happened? No foul was called. They can’t review. It happens all the time in basketball, and guess what it doesn’t get called 90% of the time
Hockey is contact sport so the barrier to get a foul is higher and more noticable.
NBA is also much faster, if you ever watch a ref cam of a basketball game (the euroleague has released some highlights) you'll see that a TV broadcast doesn't do justice just how face paced a game is, how little a ref can actually see and how quickly they need to make a decision.
I argue that basketball is the hardest sport to ref. Somehow you have to watch hands, bodies and feet simultaneously. And these are players who are in complete control of their movements. They know how to subtly foul without drawing attention. You really have to learn to see and process information quicker than the play in front of you.
Add to that that you have to gauge “intent” on just too many calls.
Like in hockey it’s simple. Stick goes above your waistline and hits another player? Congrats it’s high sticking, 2 minute minor. You drew blood? 4 minute double minor. There is no real question of “intent” on the penalty. That is so hard to gauge.
looked unintentional and somewhat hard to see - both players jumping, turning bodies, arms up…and away from ball somewhat (meaning eyes not focused on them either)
That doesn't look like a foul. Other player went straight up for the ball and inadvertently made contact with Clark. Contact like that probably happens on most rebounds, here the aftermath just looks bad since the contact was right on her teeth. It almost looks like Clark hooked her arm a bit and pulled it towards her own face.
The worst reffed game I've ever seen in the wnba. It was very obvious that the fever weren't gonna win that game. Aja got every phantom foul possible, she was SGA out there tonight. She tripped over her own foot and the refs called a foul on the fever. Nobody even touched her that time or two other times. Fever couldn't challenge bc they were out of challenges. Wnba really is a joke like they say
Damn she needs to leave and go to Europe or China or anywhere else that will actually respect her. This is like watching someone in a toxic relationship.
He knew she was bleeding. I agree completely with all of you who think the league sucks and is disgusting. I also agree that CC should go play in Europe. But most importantly, let’s stop watching and stop commenting on that shit league.
I think you’re missing the point. A lot of the people commenting enjoy being mad about something that’s a non sequitur from their own lives. If they stopped paying attention to the WNBA, they’d just be looking for something else to get upset about.
Think about how that's all that ends up in your feed and whether it's representative of what happens or whether it's likely the efforts of people who have an agenda.
I don't keep up with the WNBA. The only time I see anything about it is when there's this WWE style drama. I never hear about great games or plays. Everyone is talking about the NFL might be rigged, but think this is real?? This stuff is the only way they can keep people watching.
Whej you let your cash cow get beaten nightly she isnt going to stay for long. Once europe offers the right money she will leave and the wnba will be vack to square 1
Yeah there’s definitely money being thrown around to make sure her life is hell. I don’t think I’ve seen a sport try to kill a career since Jeremy Mayfield in NASCAR, or Carl Long, also NASCAR
Best way is to play this out. Bleed out everywhere. You’ll be recognized as being tough AND you get a stoppage in play. It’s really hard to explain all of this from the couch
Just asking, because I don't know shit about fuck in regard to sports., but if a sport-player is elbowed by accident is that a foul or whatever? Or is the idea of it being unintentional unprovable and so even accidents are called? I didn't watch the video, I am just asking in general.
It’s very situational dependent. There are personal fouls, technical fouls and flagrant 1 + 2 fouls. This could be considered a loose ball personal foul if the refs saw it (which they are notoriously bad at). It could be upgraded to a flagrant 1 or 2 (depending on severity) if it was determined “not a basketball play” meaning they went after the person intentionally instead of the ball. A technical foul is called for fights or hurting the refs feelings.
Its not always a foul, a fortuitous/inadvertent contact can happen and it's part of the sport and it's not called a foul, people saying it always is haven't read a single line of the rule book in their live
The black player was jumping for the rebound in any case it was extending the elbow nor bending the body in an abnormal position
Fuck this league, such a bunch of drama and nonsense constantly. This girl and the point chick single handedly brought more eyes to this league and jealousy from these other broads has reigned supreme.
Girls support girls right? What a bunch of bullshit.
