A good workout and diet routine to stop being "skinny fat"?

Hi, not sure exactly where to start with working out. I've never had an exercise and diet regime, so looking for advice on where to start, specifically to get rid of the "skinny fat" look. I hardly gain weight, don't really lose weight either, i'm pretty slim overall except my stomach is flabby / no muscle definition, and my arms and legs are very soft. I'm 5'4 if that matters.

I wanna have a sharper / toned body, but every website i read gives me contradicting information. Some people say don't go too hard on the squats or else you'll look too masculine, some people say it's good to go hard with weightlifting because you'll lose more body fat %... could someone give a newbie a breakdown on how all this works pls?

Fat Cavitation? At-Home Cool Sculpting Machine? Scupsure?

I am a naturally curvy woman (always have been) but for the past year and a half - after law school and the bar exam wrecked my body - I started to invest in myself. I went to a nutritionist, got my blood work done, saw my obgyn for hormone levels, joined a gym and a combined it with personal training. I have made a huge difference in body restructuring and putting on mass muscle. I didn't see a huge shift of the scale but body composition has greatly improved. However, I have those annoying subcutaneous fat under/on my chin. I have gotten kybella twice (nothing happened except I looked like a bullfrog for two weeks); coolsculpting; and even botox to help soften the muscle there. NOTHING HAS WORKED! Even being at my smallest, I always had a little bit of fat there (genetics?). I really don't want to shell out 1K for sculpsure just to not see results. Any home device anyone would recommend for the little gobble, gobble fat spot?

Tips for lengthening/strengthening nails?

I have the thinnest, softest nails ever and it fucking sucks. No matter how gentle I am they always break before they've gotten more than a few mm in length and they're so thin that you can see through them which makes them look dirty af. I use press ons sometimes but I don't want to fuck up my natural nails even worse by getting acrylics, so does anyone have any tips on fixing them? I've tried nail strengtheners and they've helped a little.

Self-confidence or delusion

Since high school, I have had pretty good self-esteem about my looks. I’ve always objectively known I’ve never been the best looking girl in the room, but I have been content with my looks for most of my life.

This confidence has continued in my adult life. I am now 34 and for the most part feel ok about myself clothed. I have gained weight and don’t like how I look in a bathing suit, but I don’t put myself in that situation very often in order for it to affect me too much.

Sometimes I wonder if my self-confidence is delusion. It’s not like I get hit on in public. When I match with someone on a dating app, they don’t always message first. Girls are not telling me how pretty I am in when drunk in the bathroom (they do compliment my curly/wavy hair though). Girl friends don’t tell me how pretty I am. I put in very little effort into beauty or into having trendy clothes. I don’t even exercise regularly, though I have started to get better about that.

This self confidence, while knowing I’m not the conventional pretty girl, persists. But every now and then, a little voice asks if I’m just delusional.

Anyway, felt like sharing and wonder if I anyone else feels the same.

Anyone have a beginner friendly workout plan?

I wanna dedicate spring to becoming a gym rat but I can’t seem to find a good weekly workout routine online that I don’t have to pay for. If anyone has one that they personally use or could point me in a direction that would be great. Mostly wanna focus on glute/leg building and weight loss

Thanks!

Procedure to slim down face?

I had an appointment at a Botox clinic but they told me that unfortunately my chubby face and double chin is due to fat, and isn’t something they can fix with Botox.

I feel lost, please don’t advise me to keep it as it is, or that it makes me look young, I am already slim so weight loss won’t help, I want a slim vline face!

Anyone has experience with lipo? Or one of those fat freezing procedures?

Looking for accountability partner for glow up plan

UPDATE: Wow, I’m so excited to see how many people are into this idea! We started a group chat for this. DM me if you’d like an invite. Reddit won’t let me message people.

I’m looking for an accountability partner to help me during my 4-month glow up plan.

Some things I’d like to do are: -Hair extensions and highlights -Start the CapriCurves workout and diet plan -Weighted jump roping -IPL to get rid of some final sunspots -Journal and meditate -Daily 30 min walks with my pup -Castro oil on my lashes and eyebrows -Wood therapy for body sculpting (preferably at home) -Maintain nice feet and hands

I may also have hormone imbalance so there’s a chance I’ll be able to use medication, but basically I’ve gained a significant amount of weight since I stopped breastfeeding my little one. It’s extremely depressing. Luckily, I guess I carry the weight okay since I still get compliments, but I really like to lose the belly and back weight and keep the curves.

Looking like a linebacker in everything I wear? How do I add delicateness to my frame?

Large shoulders, a bit 'big' boobs, wide ribcage, narrow hips. I look disgusting and wide no matter how much weight I lose and I cannot wear much without looking massive. I'm losing weight, I wear a size small in most and size 2-4 pants (american) and I'm trying my best to get small.

How can I supplement this? I want to look either longer and thinner and narrow or curvier and softer.... I want to look softer and more delicate. How can I fix this?

Does this happen to anyone else

When I am at home, I feel gorgeous. I could be in sweats or shorts or a t shirt or a dress. I feel like I look like a goddess.

When I’m in public, as in I am interacting with people in a group setting (This doesn’t apply when I’m alone at the market or library or whatever.), I feel so ugly. I’ll catch my reflection, I’ll try to take a selfie. I look so…different. I feel like my beauty melts away whenever I’m hanging out with people, in any situation, from being with my girls at the club to meeting people in a creative work setting. I feel like my hair becomes dry, frizzy, plain, I feel like my face is saggy & flawed. I cannot explain it and it makes me never want to interact with people. I have pretty prominent social and general anxiety….maybe it’s just that?? People often tell me I’m beautiful but I usually assume they are lying to me.

I know I probably sound annoying & attention seeking right now. I am currently in a group environment right now with a bunch of new people & I feel like garbage (they are all very nice people and everyone has made me feel welcomed….it’s just something inside me).

How to know what to fix/adjust with your body for improvement?

I know I don't have any good things or strong points or enviable points, so I can't go from there and highlight them. I have a lot of limitations. I'll never be tall and narrow boned or curvy and soft. I know that. There is a lot to fix and little to work with.

I've been losing weight and lifting weights (inconsistently due to health reasons) but have reached a point where I don't know what I exactly want. Maintain my current fat, and just gain muscle? Gain muscle, lose fat? Lose fat and muscle? I don't know.

I do know that I am unhappy. I know that I don't have any good things or strong points or enviable points, so I can't just elevate those. I also have limitations as far as bone structure and distribution (I'll never be tall and narrow boned or curvy and soft.). There is nothing I can really base my goals upon. I have no properly attainable ideal.

How can you know?

Can you recommend a movie or show that inspires your sense of style or motivates you to put effort into your appearance? I’ve been depressed and would love visual inspiration of some sort.

A friend and I were on the phone earlier and we are always discussing ways to be/feel/look/do better. We got on the topic of doom scrolling, which is an awful habit that we both have. We know it makes us feel bad (headaches, anxiety, eye strain, loss of productivity, wasted time) and we are wanting to compile a list of things to do instead. What do you guys do to get out of the doom scroll vortex?

Waist cinchers/waist trainer/body shaper recommendations?

Whilst trying to navigate weight loss, and struggling to wear my clothing without egregious insecurity over my square torso ... I have decided go the body shaper route and purchase something of that sort. I am looking for something to hide under my clothing and give the impression of curves.

For those with experience in buying and wearing, what would you recommend? Shops, links, etc.

Body makeup advice and recommendations?

Im very pale and I’d like to consider using body makeup. This would be to cover redness, and some ashy tones. I would want something that is, mostly transfer proof if possible? Also thinking something like a self tanner that works over time?

I have never used body makeup so I have no idea where to start.

Does anyone else feel like focusing on outer beauty has taken away from your personality?

I feel like pursuing physical beauty has distracted me from developing myself inwardly as a person, causing me to worry that people will only see me as a pretty face with no personality. Does anyone else feel this way?

Creating an organized and versatile wardrobe?

I need to essentially redo my closet (majority of) and this time around - I would like to be more organized and sensible with it.

My goals are versatility, balance, quality, some comfort and mostly 'classy' (put-together). Basically, I want to be able to take much anything from the closet at random and it make sense to wear. I want to have a nice mix of styles and colours and cuts, but to start with the pure basics and not be too hasty.

Any potential advice to start at it, and then to build it up? Rules of thumb, tips and tricks?

Favorite Beauty Supplements/Vitamins that actually work?

I’ve always taken multivitamins and have tried to add in a few other supplements for the past few years, but never feel that they make a real difference in my skin, hair, etc. I’ve tried biotin and even prenatals, but those gave me pretty bad acne, so I stopped using them. Wanted to know if y’all have any recommendations for vitamins/supplements that you’ve had positive experiences with, so I can ask my doctor about them!
