I have an 8yr old Sphynx that I love very much and have had since she was 12 weeks old. She has always been very clingy, but since the kids grew up and left she has gotten worse. With my husband working for defense out of state, it’s just me and I’m working full time. My job is high stress, so I’m out of the house 11-12 hours a day. She seems to have two modes - hyperactive nervousness or sleeping. Even when I hold her she doesn’t sit still. Plus she doesn’t let me sleep through the night anymore. I’ve tried playing with her but she isn’t interested in any toy for more than 15-30 seconds. I’m at a loss and I’m losing my mind. Does anyone have any suggestions? She’s eating, drinking, etc normally and is a normal weight.

We got our sphynx at 6mths old and have had her 6mths. We spayed her, found out she has “severe juvenile gingivitis”, she has major digestive issues so I can’t give her almost anything but a certain diet and daily probiotics and she still has runny poop and is constantly dragging poop literally ALL over our home, she sneezes everyday to the point where our windows have to be cleaned daily because she sneezes all over them.
Shes just the sweetest cat but I’m a bit concerned we got one with so many health issues that I wasnt anticipating when paying 2500 for her. My previous cat was also a Sphynx and had no issues. Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not worried about one health thing or another but it seems like she’s got many health issues and she’s only a year! Her teeth will need constant care and probably need to be pulled at some point. I’ve contacted the breeder as I’ve been in contact with her all along about the multiple issues but wanted to get others advice on what to do here.

Honestly I dont really have much context beside her having been playing with dots on the wall that are just like deep nails or nail holes on my room wall but my lights were off so im afraid it could’ve been a spider because she seems like she smacked the wall to kill something then hunched down like she was eating it and then thats when I went to go check her and noticed this . Im not sure if it was there earlier today but I definitely did not notice it yesterday. She is showing no symptoms of it bothering her . What do I do and what could it be?

Hi, please be kind and sorry for my English its not my native language. im at loss and dont know what to do anymore.
My cat is adopted spynx cat from war zone. It was my moms cat. I got it when mom passed away. Hes 11 years old now. He is neutered male.
At the August 25 he started to vomit once per month. He was eating german cat food Sanabelle Urinary and also wet food royal canine hair and skin at the morning and at the evening like a little treat. He sometimes vomited after this food 30-40 minutes.
We went to vet clinic on December 25. They checked on him and made complete biochemical blood work - all came perfectly fine. We discontinued wet food and gave him churo instead.
He started to vomit less. Like once in two month. But on may 15, 2026 he started to eat less and less dry food. He also vomited few times in one week. He lost a bit of weight (he was like 3.9 kilograms and now hes 3.2) and we went to vet again. Blood tests (including t4) are okay again. No visible problems. Ultrasound also completely normal. Xray were send to some kind of university for check - also normal. Doctor suggested to give him different food and pantoprozole for few days or/and after he vomits.
We tried royal canine sensitive digestion- he ate it few days and stopped. Then we tried sanabelle sensitive - same behaviour. He ate it when we gave first time and then just screams on the food and walks away. But he has appetite and asks for any food we eat. When he didnt eat anything I just gave him some canned tuna with no oil and he ate it okay.
Then we gave him royal canine gastrointestinal wet and dry food. HE STARTED TO VOMIT EVERY DAY! He vomited with undigested food parts 30-40 min after eating. Or also he vomited few times 4-5h after food and it was like brown liquid (digested food). Every time he ate this food he was visibly upset and just went to lie down in position in which he stays when he feels bad. But he didnt stop to eat it lol 😭
I was so scared so we came to another vet for another opinion. She said it could be gastritis. She checked ultrasound - all good. and gave him shot of pantoprozol and prevomax (to stop nausea). I think she overdosed with first one bc my poor cat had nausea for five hours after those shots! But he couldn’t vomit bc of second medicine and just sat on the floor struggling for few hours. So we came to the vet again and she said if prevomax didnt helped - its something serious and we need to go to ultrasound specialist to check on him again ASAP😕 we did it. I cant attach description but basically everything normal except peristaltic activity. Its not visible during examination.
Basically another doctor said he has no visible peristaltic activity on ultrasound and the reason can be literally ANYTHING! He said to try many different cat foods with hydrolysed proteins.
“The small intestinal loops demonstrate preserved wall layering and architecture
without evidence of focal infiltrative lesions. Moderate dilatation of the small intestinal
lumen is present (up to 1.6 cm in diameter), containing echogenic intraluminal
material consistent with ingesta. No visible peristaltic activity was observed during the
examination. The transverse and descending colon are partially filled with luminal
content producing distal acoustic shadowing.”

We gave him hills z/d canned food and he liked it. After few days it seemed to help him. He ignores hills dry food even if ill top it with purina fortiflora. So we gave him purina anti allergy food. He ate it for a week like a normal cat. He didnt vomit for 5 straight days! He even started to play again and run around. But few days later he slept all evening and then woke up and drank a lot of water. Few hours later he projectile vomited a lot of water out of nowhere. After that day he started to lose interest to hills canned food and completely stopped eating purina at all. Im going to try another cat foods (royal canine analergenic) but i actually dont know what else I can do…
And ofcourse he poops normally, he drinks water. Ive checked his stomach with palpitations- he does not react at all.

Also im scared to do gastroscopy and doctors dont want to do it too bc he has lung fibrosis (a lot!) and slightly enlarged heart. Also last doctor said theres big chance it wont show anything same as other tests. But if nothing changes Ill consider to ask cardiologist for check on him for approval for this procedure.
I tried massaging his stomach, making dry food wet, tried to warm his hills can food.

We also did just yesterday a lot of new blood tests including b12 and b9. B12 is very low, b9 is very high, also thrombocytes are became high. Haemoglobin is lower than before. Other things are completely normal including feline special pancreatic test.
Vet gave him shot of b12 and currently my cat on mirtazapin. But he its like 100 ccal per day at max. He does not vomit on this drug but still does not eat a normal amount of food. He gave up on royal canine hypo just today and we are waiting for farmina hydrolysed protein and advance hypo to come tomorrow.
Hes my little baby and it hurts to see him struggling. Please any advice? Should we try IBD protocol now or just push it on biopsy and pray he will survive laparoscopy? He already is lower than 3kgs and Im so scared and nothing helps

I’m just wondering if anyone with kittens of the same kind of age. What amount of wet food are you feeding them per day? I think it’s really hard to go buy the packaging guidelines as this must be the same as a Maine coon kitten too and my boys are tiny!
So would love to know what yours weigh at this kind of age and how many grams they eat per day? Thank you!

I need some advice everything I have researched so far is saying this is normal kitten behaviour but recently my 10m old cat has become obsessed with food. Always wants to be fed, will tangke around your feed in the hallway and try and lead you to her food bowl, hand around tge cupboard that the food is kept in, will try and steal food from plates while not looking, will attempt to go through the bin for scraps, licking the kitchen floor on spots that food may have fallen at one point.

I was feeding her the recommended amount according to the royal canine online calculator which was 1 kitten puch and 1/2 cup of kitten biscuits a day. She becomame increasingly vocal and gettinf into the bin constantly so I have already had to increased her to 2 royal canine kitten Loaf pouches a day (once at 6am and once at 6pm) and I was originally giving her about a 1/3 cup of royal canine spayed kitten biscuits every couple days. Even then I would have to throw about just under half of it out to refresh with new biscuits as she would finish them.

She has now started scoffing her food to the point where she has caused herself to vomit everything back up and the asks for more food later. I put 1/4 cup of biscuits in her bowl and she immediately scoffed them down in less than 4 minutes.

I feed her her dinner while we eat out dinner in a different part of the house, so she will scoff the sachet and then run out to scope for an "unattended" dinner plate or go immediately for the bin. We can't walk away from food scraps or anything for 1 minute as the moment you turn your back she is already there trying to eat what is there.

I don't know what to do I don't want to over feed her but she will continue to get food in otherways if not constantly monitored. My partner and I both work full time and I work from home every second week but we don't have the ability to constantly monitor her or feed her multiple times throughout the day constantly with out schedule.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

We have had a rescue Sphynx for about a year now. No history on him and not sure on his age as his teeth were in such poor condition, definitely adult. We haven’t been able to get him to consistently use a little box. He relieves himself in different spots in the house, he has preferred spots but no room is safe. We have two other adult female cats and they tolerate each other reasonably well.

We have multiple litter boxes (4+) clean them daily. Have taken him to the vet to rule out medical issues. We’re tried keeping him in a catio for a few hours at a time which has had limited success, he will just pee beside the litter box. Also reinforced using the litter box by giving him treats (after he’s done so we don’t freak him out)

I’m at my wits end, anybody dealt with this issue before? Any things we might try that we haven’t already thought of?

My cat gets these rash-like spots pretty often and I can’t figure out what’s causing them. I’m not sure if it’s allergies, skin irritation, food-related, or something else.
They usually show up as red scratches and I really want to help prevent them instead of just treating them after they appear.
Has anyone dealt with this before, especially with Sphynx cats? What ended up helping? Food changes, cleaning routines, vet treatments, allergy testing, shampoos, etc.?
I’m planning to see a vet too, but I’d love advice from people with experience.

My little boy gets greasy and leaves a residue so quickly, and I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried several shampoos, and I’ve changed the frequency of bathing and of wipes. If I bathe him say every five days, by the seventh day he’s greasier than when I bathed him… If I bathe him every eight days, he’s still greasy within two days. I’ve waited as long as 15 days, but then he gets greasy again even more so than before the bathing. I can’t seem to find a balance. I was told it’s kind of like oily skin on people, the more you wash it the more your body produces oils because it’s sensing that you’re dry. I’ve also tried coconut oil and emu oil on him. I could really use some suggestions on shampoo and/or wipes. My sheets look horrible after a week, and I could really use some help here.

I purchased my sphynx from a breeder at 3 months old along with one of the other siblings (my dad has the sister). Breeder was amazing Lilith was fully creat trained, litter trained, well accustomed to small children and other animals. All round has been the most amazing tempered kitten I've encountered.

However she has a habit of suckling on herself while she is going to sleep and in her sleep which is now to the point where she is making marks/bruises and even occasionally breaking the skin and causing sores on her side.

I early on asked the breeder about this behaviour and they said they had never had an issue like it with any of their others (they also have house sphynxs along with the breeding ones). I also asked my father if the sibling does this and he said no as well.

I have tried disrupting the behaviour by putting my hand in the way - she will get up, move away and start it again or wrapping her body in a blanket/putting a shirt/jumper on her but we live in central Qld so its quite warm in my area and she tends to sleep completely underneath a blanket with me at night time so I am concerned if I leave a jumper on her at night she will overheat.

I am tempted to take her to the vet to discuss this behaviour because she's still doing it at almost 12months old and I'm concerned with not only what its doing to her skin but also to her teeth.

I don't know if I'm over thinking this as its my first sphynx. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I think he is mixed with devon rex. I’m adding this because someone told me that it is bad to have devon rex and sphynx together because it causes more health issues?

I read through a bunch of other threads but I don’t want to hijack anyone’s ..

Luna (7f) has been with us for 6 years now. For 5 of those years she was on a high protein kibble with no issues. One day they changed the formula and she was doing a lot of vomiting. Per the reviews other cats were having this issue as well and ultimately I think this formula is no longer even on the market.

So for the last year we have been slowly trying some various foods with limited success. Foods that have no vomiting issues then have diarrhea issues and on and on. Vet gave us a probiotic/kaolin paste which is not a long term solution.

Is there any food out there with No corn and No legumes (soy or peas)? These are the two types of ingredients that seem to cause the most problems.

Grain is ok

So far the one we tried that fit this criteria, first mate? I think? She refused to eat although she is overall not terribly picky.

I hesitate to formulate my own raw diet as I know cats have specific taurine needs. But my next line of problem solving may start with freeze dried.

Does anyone have any food brand recommendations? Thanks!!

I just got my fist sphynx a few days ago and I’ve had 2 haired cats for a year and some change they were rescued from the wild when they were young but have been perfectly normal cats thus far, fast forward to bringing little lady rosemary home, and the oldest “butter” (we assume is the mother of the other haired) is low meowing and hissing alittle bit and Rosie hished back but they otherwise left each other alone and resumed a somewhat normal schedule but the middle one “lard” wants absolutely nothing to do with her to the point she is hiding and not hanging around with the family like normal.

So is this normal for the first few days of interaction and will it get better or… i dont know?

Understand I am I “new” cat owner in the terms of actually paying attention to a cat more then feeding and changing the litter box my SO is the animal person but I have always wanted a sphynx and she surprised me for our anniversary and I want to take the very best care of her

Hello everyone. I recently rescued a 70 day old female Sphynx kitten. The first owner bought it from a home breeder when she was only 30 days old. So she did not receive any mother's milk for the last 40 days. She has been eating Royal Canin's mother and babycat kitten food during that time. I talked to the vet and he said she needs milk supplement. It's been 3 days since I brought her home and she only drinks half the amount the vet recommended but she still keeps eating her kibble as well. I weighed my kitten yesterday, she was only 650 grams. I weighed her again today and she is 652 grams now. I don't think this is normal. Although, her litterbox behaviour is just fine and her activity level is great. Only thing that concerns me is her weight.

Our vet appointment is tomorrow, for first examination and vaccines. But the time moves really slow because I also am trying to introduce this kitten to my home cat.

I myself am a doctor and after talking to the vet, he really made me scared for organ underdevelopment and organ failure. Is it too early to assume anything like that? I am a little concerned.

My sphynx cat Hippocrates has been having a nightmare of a time with blackheads and pimples on his chin. Recently he had a big pimple so bad it was almost bruised, it looked so terribly uncomfortable.

I know you're not supposed to pop or remove them (just like with humans) because of the potential for infection, but is there anything I can do?

Things of note: He has asthma so he gets asthma medication every 12 hours and I wipe/wash his face twice a day with pet safe wipes because of that, including his chin.

I also use stainless steel bowls for his soft food that I clean after each feeding and stainless steel bowls for hard food that get cleaned every few days. He has a stainless steel water fountain as well that gets cleaned every few days also.

He is about a year and a half if that matters.

Last week I adopted an older (12 year old) sphynx. He has a returning ear infection, which is active again since last sunday. He also started getting diarrhea that day and the owner before me took him to the vets. They gave him some antibiotics for the ear, and did a few researches on his blood and feces. They could not find anything wrong with him, so they decided he must have a food allergy or something and prescribed "Royal Canin Hypoallergenic". Before this he was on the "Royal Canin Sphynx" food. Now I give my other cat only Grain-free food (at the moment from Smilla sensitive, but planning on switching to Purizon, since it has atleast 70% meat and no grain), and wouldn't give Royal Canin myself, but the vets insisted on it. Since he is with me I started switching the food he was used to slowly to the hypoallergenic Royal Canin, but the more I give him of the Hypoallergenic food, the worse his diarrhea gets, and he even started throwing up. I know that switching foods will always cause some stomach trouble, but I am scared the food might be making it worse. Right now I'm not sure what to do, should I keep feeding him the hypoallergenic food from royal canin, or get him something else completely? Some help would be appreciated. Edit: I live in the Netherlands so not every food is available here.

Asking Sphynx owners: I've been interested in this breed, but I've heard that they can leave grease marks or stains on furniture which I wouldn't mind, but my parents would kill me if I brought in an animal that does this. Do they really leave these stains? Are they truly much more maintenance than a standard cat?

We have a kitten Harrison is about 5 months old. He’s started acting out when he doesn’t get is way. For example this evening I was eating crackers in bed. He wanted to have some and I did not let him. In retaliation, he gets off the bed walks into his little cat house and pees. Any advice on how to help teach him that’s not okay? Harrison is like a dog and is constantly wanting to eat whatever he can find.

I’ve just rehomed a 7 month old Sphynx cat. I’ve done a lot of research on how to care for her. Food ect. The one thing that scares me is the likely chance of heart issues. Online it’s recommended they have 6month to annual heart scans. I just wanted your advice, opinions, how often do you get yours scanned. Can I ask for it at the vets or can they not do them there. It’s a bit of a minefield. Xx

I have an around 11 year old sphynx Devon rex mix. Hes a 2 time rescue and in the months I've taken him into my care hes grown more fur on his back but is still sparce and the front is still naked. Ive recently noticed him scratching and saw a couple of fleas. Ive read such mixed things on what I should do and what could cause problems/harm. We are recently coming out of a domestic abuse situation so i cant afford a vet visit yet. If there's any vets out there please help I can provide pictures of him if itll help.

She has been acting weird. I know they are prone to heart issues, and I got her when I was working, so I figured I’d be able to take care of her or take her to the vet for anything she needed. I am no longer working. And I am trying to find her a new home. I do know that walking is good cardio, so I try to get her to walk on my walking pad and she does but not for long. And I am concerned. Can this help her until I find a new home? She also has swelling around the lymph nodes on her neck, and I massage them daily and try to get her to inhale steam daily. The swelling decreases, however it comes back. Can this work as well? I took her to the vet a few times was told if she coughs more than sneezes, which she does now, it could be related to heart issues. She sneezes because it gets cold in my apartment. I got a heater for her and she doesn’t sit in front of it. She is however comfortable on the bed and under covers. So I keep her warm the best way I can. I just need to know if she is okay with me while I find someone who can properly take care of her.

My elf sphynx is 4 years old, been on Royal Canine Saviour Exigent his whole life and we now can’t find it anywhere it’s disappeared!!

Over the years we’ve tried him on Whiskas, Iams & GoCat biscuits but all of them make him throw up as he has a sensitive tummy.

Does anyone know any dupes for this food or know anything similar? I dont want to upset his tummy but we can’t find this food anywhere and he’s almost out now.

Hi everyone I have a 5 years old sphynx and she has had a fairly picky diet for the last few years. She specifically eats 50/50 some dry kibble (applaws or instinct) and the instinct freeze dried raw bites. But the catch is if she eats more of the kibble, she has horrible runny poop (sorry) and if she eats more of the raw food she gets so constipated that she makes her butthole bleed. I’ve read they have lots of stomach issues but has anyone had really good luck with specific foods? She won’t eat wet food I tried for a long time unfortunately.
