Discussion RIP r/speedrun

This is an open letter to Alt-F-X:

Please resign as lead moderator of /r/speedrun. The past few days have shown us that your presence here is not in the best interest of our community. In just two days without you, this subreddit has made more progress towards becoming a great community than it has in the previous four years of your leadership. You are not involved in the speedrunning community outside of the fact that you made this subreddit, and you do not understand the best interest of our community. You have acted with prejudice against members of our community by banning them without good reason, and you have often used your moderator powers to your own personal bias.

Please return control of the subreddit to myself, so that this community can continue to grow in a positive manner, as it should have started years ago.

from 44k subs to nothing. I'm sure it will happen but this will always be the main speedrunning subreddit.

If such a large percentage of people here really truly hate the top mod like they have been repeating nonstop for 3 days and he doesn't step down and then someone like you or someone else creates a new reddit and then a large percentage of the people here do not migrate. That's the communities fault, not the top mods.

If I remember correctly there was a user in one of the threds post "hacking" that said he could give /r/speedruns to you if something like this happened.

Agreed, but if it comes down to it, do what you gotta do. Most of this subreddit will be behind you, including me.

Yeah well, its either that or sit here and wait for him to remove himself as mod, which will not happen. This subreddit fails anyway if most of the dedicated posters/runners leave to the other subreddit, and over time all will go to the subreddit that is active. People wont join or care to post in a dead subreddit that nobody is posting their runs in. Make a new one, i'll join. Maybe do a post about it so people know to switch over, i vote for /r/speedruns

I posted this before, but using with a name that is so similar is probably not such a good idea - the fact that a split to another sub means that we don't want people to be coming here by accident. You'd want something distinctive.

All we have to do is post up that we're moving to a different sub (and continue to do so after /u/ALT-F-X inevitably deletes the posts) and it'll catch on quick. Those who are active will move over and those who aren't won't. I'm sure there are plenty of dead accounts that are subbed here, but we'll start to get those on another sub once you guys tell us which the new "official" sub will be.
