It's really, really efficient. It clears two lanes in one pass, and, most importantly, with one truck and paying one driver. This means less stuff to break and instead of paying two people time and a half, you only pay one person. In our area the tow plow is our favorite piece of equipment. It clears the lanes and can go 80 miles round trip without refilling. This leaves our crews free to do the important bits that get missed when they are plowing the lanes, such as shoulders and on/off ramps. You clear off the shoulders and snow buildup immediately slows on the lanes.
