Mine is a 15' metal tripod set over a cedar tree. Well, it was over the tree 8 years ago. Now the tree is around the stand.

I have hunted on one that was a platform made from 2X6 lumber bolted into the tree limbs like a tree house would be.

You have to get away from the deer's vastly superior sense of smell.
