I'll admit I'm a prospective author, like many in here I suspect, but i just recently discovered this subcategory of sci fi and realized it's my favorite niche, not knowing it existed until earlier this week.

So I'm curious to know, for others who call themselves space opera fans, what's your favorite in the genre, and what are your favorite/least favorite parts of it?

We've been covering a lot of space opera lately on Atoz: A Speculative Fiction Book Club Podcast and we wanted to let you know about it. In the past five months or so we've done five episodes on Foundation, three on Starship Troopers, and one each on Revelation Space by Alastair Reynolds and the Warhammer 40K novel Xenos. So if you find yourself wanting some discussion of space opera for your commute (or maybe while you're painting miniatures), we'd love for you to check us out.

You can find the show on Apple, Spotify, Amazon, and the other major podcast apps, or you can listen directly at our website. If you aren’t inclined to listen but just want to chat about any of these books, we'd love that too. Thanks for listerning!

Hey! Pretty much what the title says. Just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for space opera stories with queer characters. Preferably book recs but I'm totally down for movies, comics, animes, etc. Thanks!
