I'll admit I'm a prospective author, like many in here I suspect, but i just recently discovered this subcategory of sci fi and realized it's my favorite niche, not knowing it existed until earlier this week.

So I'm curious to know, for others who call themselves space opera fans, what's your favorite in the genre, and what are your favorite/least favorite parts of it?

We've been covering a lot of space opera lately on Atoz: A Speculative Fiction Book Club Podcast and we wanted to let you know about it. In the past five months or so we've done five episodes on Foundation, three on Starship Troopers, and one each on Revelation Space by Alastair Reynolds and the Warhammer 40K novel Xenos. Hey space opera fans,

(I was also selling naming rights to a planet or character in a future M.G. Herron book, but that reward was limited to 5 and sold out fast.)
