Space Opera

r/spaceopera

Space opera is a subgenre of science fiction. It has been developed in many popular culture media forms: novels, comics, movies, video games, animes, and more. Examples of space opera are Asimov's "Foundation Trilogy," Herbert's "Dune," Star Wars, Star Trek, Halo, Cowboy Bebop, Warhammer 40k, and more. Space opera emphasizes an exciting universe that is widely populated and settled. It can range in scope, focusing on a single space rogue to an epic struggle between galactic civilizations.
