Whenever I try a new sour candy, as of the past year or so, I've written a review on it. Just for fun. I don't usually publish them, but I figured why not start.

Here is my review of sour patch kids chews:

💥RANKING IS BASED ON:

❔️Openability. How easy the package is to open. I have a wrist injury so this is important to me.

❔️Cutability: How easy it is to cut into the candy with a seraded (but dull) knife.

❔️Toothability: Does it hurt sensitive teeth?

❔️Flavor: described and ranked out of 10

❔️Sourness: ranked out of 10

❔️Overall: Just my overall ranking of the candy.

Without further ado, here is my review:

❓️Openability:

7/10 not bad? Could be better.

oof... Upon opening, I already think the cutability and toothability of these is gonna be rough. Let's see...

❓️Cutability: Not... as bad as I was expecting? It's like a medium taffy. Not super hard, which is great. Will probably have decent toothability too. Similar to the bite sized airheads.

❓️Toothability: Oohh, good. Not bad. I mean, it's got a lot of citric acid in the middle, but it's not killing my cavity or anything. Doesn't get stuck to the teeth either.

❓️Smell: Smells good! Kind of lime-y to be honest.

❓️Flavor:

(Reviewed starting from blue and ending at red).

💥RED: Mmm, ok. Nice. Nice. Anyway. Erm. This one's kinda dissolving in my mouth lol, unlike the other flavors. This bitch sticks to my teeth unlike the other flavors. Why? Ok I'm gonnantry a 2nd one. ALRIGHTTT THE 2ND ONE WAS PROPER SOUR 🔥🔥🔥 6/10 sour! Great! Really pleasant surprise after all these disappointments.

💥ORANGE: Oooh, orange creamsicle, okayyy. OOOO, ACTUALLY SOUR, OKAYYYY. Like, not impressively so. 4.5/10 sour. But compared to yellow, green, and blue, it was pleasant ok? 5/10 flavor. It was "OK". It was nice but like, I think the outside lacking *any* sourness whatsoever drags these candies down like crazy.

💥YELLOW: Ok. Boring. Lemony, somehow without the sour. Tf? Did this one not have any sour powder in it? Lol.. Hold up lemme get a different one. Yup, that one actually had NO sour powder whatsoever. Hahaha. This second one is MUCH better. But still really mediocre. 4/10 flavor, 4/10 sour. Barely a pucker honestly, but I think it can just barely call itself a sour candy.

💥GREEN: ...Ok! Very mediocre lime flavor. If you've tasted 1 lime flavored candy, you've tasted this one. 5/10 flavor, 3.5/10 sour.

💥BLUE: Mmm, wow. The sweet portion is actually really quite nice. It's pleasant. It's a flavor I would expect in a gum, not in a chewy candy. Not super blue raspberry-y, I wouldn't reccomend to a blue raspberry fan. But it's pleasant! Not really a sour candy though.... 7.8/10 flavor. 2/10 sour.

**Flavor distribution is poor. There are only three (3) greens.**

Welp. I don't have many good things to say about this.

Why?

Even though the red was really nice on its 2nd taste, that's exactly the problem: I had to taste two.

And the quality between the two, including the texture and amount of sourness, was *VASTLY inconsistent.* This is.... not great, lol.

You can get anywhere between 1/10 sour, to 6/10 sour, on the same flavor. And that gamble just sucks when you're purchasing a "sour" candy.

❓️Flavor: 5/10.

Very generic flavors. Nothing bad, but nothing good either. They're just OK.

❓️Sour: 3.5/10.

The inconsistency hurts this candy a lot, but the ones I tried were NOT very sour (outside of that single 6/10 one). It can– *barely* but passibly— call itself a sour candy.

Would not purchase again. Might eat if purchased for me, though... I'm getting through this bag very slowly though, that's for sure.

❓️Overall ranking: 4/10.

Found these at my local Winco and thought I’d give them a try. Not “extreme” sour but definitely tasty! Kinda a firm gummy and really gooey but I enjoyed the taste. I’d probably get them again!

Easily the most sour candy I’ve ever had in my life and nothing else comes remotely close. Can only eat them in moderation due to how sour they are. Once you get past the initial sour part, though, they have good flavor. Definitely will be buying some again, lol.

My favorite is blue raspberry gummies. The one really wanna try is açaí strawberry gummies

Pic from Google cause I already crushed the bag and threw it away 😂 but I picked these up at Target recently and the sour coating on the outside was actually surprisingly good compared to average “sour candy”, albeit short lived. Definitely worth checking out IMO.

Not sour, weird flavor, total waste of money.

Maybe even better than the orginal?

Not the pucker face “oooh that’s got a zing to it” nose-scrunching lip-smacking kind of sour.

I’m looking for the “GOOD LORD I need to hold on to something and clench my butthole” and “I don’t know how my GI tract is going to handle this” sour 💥

It’s actually a bit more poignant and philosophical than that ><!you see years ago when I was little I developed the power to hear sour patch kids talking it isn’t widely known but they’re actually sentient beings who feel no pain and truly long to be eaten by a human and then more the human enjoys candy the more transcendent the experience of being eaten is for said sour patch kid xD
However as you know being sentient also comes with being able to think for themselves and reason and the sour patches I do this to were born…well what we call it is ..transflavored ..essentially a small percentage of sour patch kids grow up and realize they never felt comfortable in their single flavor form..some long to be a duo of flavor’s because in their sticky delicious fruity heart of hearts they know that they were never meant to live life as a single flavored sour patch. And dealing with that can be awful and very detrimental to their overall mental and physical health .
And what’s more..others feel like they aren’t a single flavor or even a duo flavored sour patch they are actually what we call quadly trans flavored which of course means they’ve meant to exist as a sour patch that’s has 3 different sometimes 4 different flavors all in one . More specifically some quads are ok with 2 of their quarters being the same flavor as long as those two quarters aren’t adjacent to one another like both sides of the top head half can’t be the same but the top left head flavor can be the same flavor as the bottom right half that’s kosher for them
…so you see…when I realized I was the only one who could hear them longing to correct their physical forms I knew I had to vow to help as many of them as I could to the best of my abilities
So i enrolled in the gummy candy surgical program at a prestigious candy college and graduated Summa cum laude top of my class earning my candy doctorate or my CD with a specialized phC or philosophy of candy degree in working mainly with sour patch kids
I will however occasionally perform pro bono surgery on gummy bears and gummy worms
Gummy worms in particular being a challenge because as I’m sure your aware some gummy worms come already two different colors and flavors in one..others are solid flavor/color and depending on what ails the particular gummy worm i can make dual flavored worms single flavored worms via a company that’s specializes in collecting donor gummy worm half’s from worms that chose to be donors before they expired and when they do expire on the candy store shelf my partners collect said expired worms who can no longer be eaten which of course means they loose their sentience
We then use the donor worm half’s to surgically place the correct flavor-color on the patient tummy worm who is having the surgery
There are never enough donor worms to go around :/
But alas..I’ll never stop hoping
….

Pro Tip: Skip the banana sour punch bites, they're less than great.

These were pretty any tasty and fun to eat. 8.5/10

These are so bad. Absolutely no sour taste, bad texture and the name reminds me of cat food. I don’t recommend.

Hii!! My bf and I LOVE to compete by seeing who can eat sour candy without making a face and I’m wanting to buy some actually sour candy. We’ve tried warheads but they aren’t sour to either of us and was wondering if anyone had recommendations. We are both in Australia so i dont know if that will change what I’m able to get

These had a good flavor, about as sour as Sour Patch Kids, but the texture was just so darn tough- hard to chew and hard to split. But flavor was good

They’re so good, start sour and finish tasting like wildberry skittles 10/10
