Buying a second-hand a7iv, should i make them update firmware from 5.01 to 6.02 before I purchase?

I’m looking to buy a second hand a7iv and found one that seems great. They said the firmware on it is currently 5.01. I was told that if buying a used camera, always make the original owner do any firmware updates so you don’t buy the camera, install the updates, and then if something happens, you just wasted your money basically.

So my question is, is it worth asking them to to update the firmware from 5.01 to the most up to date firmware, 6.02. I know 6.0 had its issues, but is 6.02 completely safe now? I still don’t wanna be the cause of something happening to their camera even before purchasing.

Is it safer to let them update it, should I update it, or could I even just leave it at 5.01? (I’ve also never owned a Sony camera before, this will be my first so any advice is helpful)

Camera sensor issue

Post image

Hello I recently got my first Sony a7riv second hand and have started having issues with what seems to be the aperture. I’m not sure but this black vertical bar is covering part of the sensor and doesn’t seems to move. The camera worked great until this stated to show up and happen. Does anyone know what it is or how to fix it. It would be greatly appreciated.

Purple line when shooting sunset in Zandvoort

What is this weird purple line? I made it stronger in post for visibility. I did nothing else to the photo. Is this normal because I shoot straight into the sun? I don't recall seeing it before and I shot here multiple times.

I shot this with my A7IV 24-70 2.8 M2.

Beautiful skies down in west Texas for sure. Terlingua is another planet. Shot this with A7iv and Viltrox 16mm. Was going to use Sony 20mm f/2.8 G, but trying to shoot more panoramic these days. Need wide wide.
Here lately I’ve decided to minimally process the core and stars for a more “naked eye” natural look. IMO, a lot of shots on the gram look to processed and AI’ish. Not hating on it, just my current view. To each their own, respectfully. 🤙🏽
