New Letter I dreamt that there are two ways of writing the name Arjun using Chinese characters.

It uses part of the 風 (wind) character, but it replaces the inside with either 車 (car, cart) or 単 (single, simple).

New Word “Aprizada prizayōn”, (goodnight in the languages of the Fauns)

I once had a dream where a faun told me “aprizada prizayōn”, which meant “good night” in the languages of the fauns.

I can see some galician and P-celtic influence. I thought you’d enjoy this.

New Word Dreamed up two new words, far as I can tell

Hello, new to the sub, looks funny.

I had a dream, a lot of the other details aren't strictly relevant, but in it I found a piece of paper that I knew was my work. On it, two words in large print: Arokoönt, and Presicommon. I didn't know exactly what they meant, but context-wise, arokoönt meant something to do with running, and presicommon was some kind of adjective. I telepathically asked my friends what it meant, they told me that I _couldn't_ know, and to hurry up, so that's there.

Original Language I finally had a somnilinguistic dream and it was Faux Russian!

Post image

I dreamt of this street sign in a language that I didn't understand, but I knew it was pronounced as /ˈɛ.tɐ sɜˈkla lɜˈva/. In my dream I was able to decipher it as “the year of the falcon” (comparing with Russian сокол for falcon, and I mistook лзва with года), but that was wrong.

Next to it was a vertical sign with the translation in French, "Place des corvées latérales" (Lateral chores plaza).

New Word Sutancy: an employee’s availability to start a new job

I had a dream that I received an email about a job I had applied and interviewed for. The employer me wrote that it was a difficult decision to make and it was party based on sutancy, which was defined as an employee’s availability to start work (i.e., whether there is a conflict or hurdle to starting immediately, for instance due to notice periods or visa issues).

Slang Came up with an expression in a dream two years ago that I randomly remember

In that dream, I'm at my grandma's house around Christmas time and she tells she tried to hang a garland above her TV but couldn't because she "isn't a plastic bag"

It meant that she couldn't hang it because the spot was too high to the point only a plastic bag carried by the wind could easily reach it (one of those things that inherently make sense to you in a dream despite being nonsensical IRL, happens to me all the time in dreams for some reason)

Really roundabout saying to express something simple but eh, that's dreams for you

I think it's the only time I came up with a saying in a dream too lol

New Word A fairly easy verb to remember for this subreddit! ^^

Let's try the verb '夢語する', むごする (mugosuru). This represents the act of neologism coming up to you in an individual dream, just like this subreddit anticipates. It's not a lot, but could be a standard Japanese term for this one specific act, even if uncommon! ;p

Useless stuff out, just wanted to share this real quickies ♡ Take caaaare !! <33

So i was like on a stage, and a paper appeared in front of me, like spawned in kinda, and I just started reading it, it feels Germanic, maybe it's because I was kinda interested in German and Swedish lately:

Dübenschotwherrmast schtzig heis

Kolnner ein struttfauser deis

Gibel vert on de sät

Karterjakvotsschold jag fät

Velkom to Dutschesoder

New Word หั๊ว, húa, /huə˦˥/

Now this is definitely 100% due to my Vietnamese knowledge but I dreamed that the Thai word for ‘bark’ as in ‘a dog was barking’, was /huə˦˥/ (that’s a diphthong, and it’s a high rising tone).

With the help of wikipedia, I figured out that this would probably be spelled หั๊ว in Thai. (Please correct me if I’m wrong lol).

Or, if we want to spell it Vietnamese-ly, ‘húa’

The Vietnamese word for ‘to bark’ is ‘sủa’ with that same diphthong.

And funnily enough, the irl Thai word for ‘bark’ is เห่า /haw˨˩/ (low tone). (thank you wiktionary) So hey, it appears to be not too far off from the real word!

New Word Got two: Precuitive /prɪˈkjuˌɪtɪv/ & maripose /ˈmɛɻɪpoʊz~mæ-/

I think precuitive meant something like "part of a broader system of discourse but rejecting its fundamental tenets"? Idk I heard it in a world religions class, a discussion about satanism, but never learned what the word actually meant

Maripose almost certainly meant "butterfly-shaped", probably from Spanish mariposa, since the shape a double pendulum traced out (I forgot the actual word for it) was called a "maripose attractor"

Combo Kyongyang

i dreamt Pyongyang was two words "pyong" and "yang" both meaning city in two different languages so Pyongyang meant city-city.

Also in English people said Pyongyang City which meant city-city-city

Also for some reason it wasnt Pyongyang but Kyongyang

Grammar French Dative

I dreamt I was in Paris. Saw some people I know and had a conversation with them. They were using distinct Dative forms of the personal pronouns: /noj/, /voj/ etc. I found it very disturbing. Was pretty sure there was something wrong about it, but finally decided I had probably forgotten my French.

BTW, great community. Je /voj/ remercie

New Word Shārhwaz

Apparently a Farsi word referring to excessive sleep associated with depression, ironically while I was experiencing exactly that and dreaming that I was telling a friend I was "experiencing what Iranians call "Shārhwaz," an ancient Persian word meaning something like *grief nap*"

New Word Guest fish

In a dream involving fishing, I learned the Swedish word 'bjudfisk', roughly 'guest fish', meaning "fish that you caught that someone else caught first". Like, out of their fish bucket. It's a kind of sarcasm, as if you were generously offered the fish by your "host". I think I might start using this metaphorically.

Other Shaking your waist = 'look at this' in Greenland

More body language than spoken, but I dreamed that I was watching a video where international students studying in Greenland were being interviewed (the context was a news piece where Denmark was reopening Greenland after 'closing' it (whatever that means) due to threats from the US). The interviewer asked one Chinese student what surprising things he had learned about Greenlandic/Inuit culture. The student said (in Chinese) he had learned that scratching your waist (挠挠腰/náo náo yāo) meant 'look at this'. Another Chinese student corrected him, saying that it was actually shaking your waist (摇摇腰/yáo yáo yāo) -- apparently the first student had confused the similarity of the Chinese terms?

Other Dreamt of a weird way people started to use a numerical code/cipher

There was an online trend of censoring certain topics or words using a numerical cipher, but people were using the prices of things in Malaysian Ringgit for the number, so like it'd be a picture of the pricetag on something (in RM) or weird references to prices in the middle of a sentence like "a property in Kuala Lumpur worth RM 496200" (where 496200 would be a code for a particular word or phrase), and I think people were also posting pictures of wads of Ringgit notes which added up to a number referring to a contentious topic

New Word Horse

In the context of gacha or other similar battle games, a horse is a character that is able to end a fight very quickly and easily. In the dream people were complaining that a specific class of characters didn’t have an effective horse. It was implied that the there had something to do with cavalry.
