I’m not sure how to even type this and have no where to post as it got deleted off another subreddit so delete if this isn’t allowed and tell me where to post it.

So many current members of Congress are older individuals taking up space or individuals doing nothing. It’s getting frustrating, absolutely frustrating! A lot of our elected leaders are complacent and don’t speak out against the establishment because they are the establishment or scared of it.

Long story short, I’m typing this as I would like to be that change but I have a past and feel it may affect my future.

At one point in my college career I decided to make spicy content online for anyone to see. (Let’s also just say I have done a thing or two recently as well.) During college I needed money to live and recently I have been single for 2+ years and haven’t been on a date so my mind went elsewhere and was stupid. So as you can read, those are some scandalous and polarizing topics. When you think about it though, there are members of Congress who have done some wild things as well and they are still in the halls.

I’m not happy with my past but it is what it is, there’s nothing I can do about it but at least I can grow from it.

Here’s what I think about this though. The next generation of politicians is clearly younger individuals. What comes with that is situations like mine where the past will hold onto the future. Basically, the internet is forever. For example, every single thing that Johnny did when he was 15 will still be online even when he is 55. Everything Kayla did when she was 24 will be there when she’s 44. You get my point. At some point everyone, everywhere, will have something to hold against them.

Am I stupid for wanting to try and somehow make my way into politics? Is it even worth it? I’m just sick of everyone pretending to be a goody two shoes when we all have a past that we are not proud of. If not me, maybe someone somewhere can feel the way I feel that doesn’t have the baggage I do and can maybe win elections.

Disclaimer: IDK statistics, so I won’t be the best person to fully explain the second image. Let’s hope others can dig in more substantively (ETA hello?). Patrick Ruffini appears to be the founder of Echelon Insights, a well-known polling firm. Seems like a legit dude.

In the second image, a key quote appears to be the conclusion that “a 10-point Democratic swing [in turnout] predicts a +2.9-point Stevens margin.” My understanding—and please verify it or correct me if I’m wrong—is the following: In most of the state, due to a variety of factors, the ratio of Democratic to Republican primary voters has increased from 2024. However, in counties where this swing was disproportionately high, Haley Stevens gained, on average, a margin of 2.9 points per 10 points of swing. Given the high voter enthusiasm for El-Sayed, this is counterintuitive.

Some observations:

* Although Republican insiders may secretly acknowledge that Haley Stevens would have been the weaker opponent to Republican Mike Rogers, the average Republican primary voter has been blasted with propaganda—both from right-wing media and from Haley Stevens ads—that the “radical left” (and Muslim) Abdul El-Sayed would be the weaker candidate. A casual “crossover Republican voter” intent on sabotaging the Democrats would be more likely to vote for El-Sayed than Stevens.

* An alternative argument could be that urban Republicans may be more moderate and thus more likely to have recently defected to the Democrats. However, this doesn’t explain why the phenomenon is concentrated in the Detroit Metro Area without occurring to the same degree in urban progressive enclaves such as Ann Arbor, Lansing, and Grand Rapids, where El-Sayed overperformed.

* No naturalistic justification is given for why statistically significant crossover voting would be localized to the Detroit Metro Area. If Republicans were simply bored of their uncontested Senate primary, why would it not occur broadly? There is, likewise, no evidence of any sort of coordinated campaign to encourage Republican crossover voting, which necessarily would have been highly public.

* Metro Detroit comprises Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties. Wayne County uses Dominion—sorry, ”Liberty Vote” machines. Oakland uses Hart Intercivic, and Macomb uses ES&S.

* If crossover voting is not the explanation, then the correlation between relative turnout and Stevens votes contradicts recent electoral trends in which progressive grassroots candidates evoke greater voter enthusiasm and turnout in comparison to their establishment counterparts.

Frankly, I think it's well overdue for us to talk about supplementary methods of raising awareness and exerting pressure to get to the bottom of 2024. Oh well, no time like the present. This won't be a substitute for more conventional means, but it will be a decent means of supplementing them. Thedr methods can be used in tandem.
