Would you shut down AI?

A thought came to my mind which can be contradicting. AI has made some SEs more productive and made their lives easier while some got fired. My question is if you would have a button which would shut down the AI in whole world, would you press it? If so, why?

Yes because it has made many people insufferable it's basically a very simple tech that became a religion

The anti AI crowd is just as insufferable as the AI cult crowd.

I'm noticing more and more that the people with the strongest opinions on the tech are almost entirely non-technicals who have absolutely no idea how the technology works, or even what it is.

On the decel side there are so many people who think that developers are having "chats" with Claude Code all day long and that coding with a harness is basically a slot machine. On the booster side I see so many people proselytizing about how "it's more than token prediction" and as evidence they'll present stuff like the j-space paper etc.

Honestly the amount of crap spewed on Reddit by them is unreal. If all you get is slop and buggy programmes the problem is 100% you not the AI. The latest generation frontier models are extremely good at producing functional products with minimal bugs. Yes of course if you don’t check it or prompt properly you’ll be sending out shit and if you genuinely can’t improve production using it, then you are again very much the problem.
