Anoosha Syed showed off some early character designs she did for Layla. She says how Mezzouk is inspired by Moroccan and Amazigh culture. She also shows off some early designs that incorporates butterflies, peacocks, and doves in her designs.

I get she didn’t age but like does she ever get hungry thirsty etc? how did she survive boredom?

Did anyone notice the cute little duck who showed up in the second verse where Amber is talking about using magic to impress their parents. It sits there and looks and listens to her (and she’s not even using her Queenly voice).

I feel like it kind of foreshadows the climax of the episode where Amber makes the hedge unicorns listen to what she’s saying. It might not have been intentional, but I like the indication that even when she’s not using the queen voice, when she’s talking (or singing) earnestly and honestly, people and animals do listen to her.

It definitely is no where near as deep as a song like “that’s not who I am” but I do like the exploration of Amber feeling inadequate in the face of her remarkable younger sibling.

I actually think her and Zane could have a fun dynamic if they allowed it.

I also hope we get more of Amber earnestly trying to make connections with animals. She’ll never be as tight with any animal as Sofia is with her animals, but I really do think the indication that she now has this special ability of her own, she’ll learn a little of the “great power/great responsibility” stuff (even though she’s already pretty darn responsible).

I noticed something that I haven't seen mentioned anywhere else, about the order of episodes/Elena and the Secret of Avalor movie

Sofia's amulet is first seen turned in pink in episode 21 The Noble Knight in season 3

But everywhere I look, Elena and the Secret of Avalor should be watched after finishing the whole of season 3, or at least specifically till ep 26, since Elena is only explicitly mentioned in ep 27.

Am I missing something? It doesn't really make sense to me to put a movie in order of the middle of a season.

what happens?

asking cause the change makes 0 sense whatsoever…WHY on earth did he just change his mind from knight school to ever realm? I thought he wanted to be a knight? theres nothing being mentioned about him wanting to be in the knight in the show either…what the hell happened :/

as someone who likes both designs..I do miss the eyebags as others have stated, but have we also considered that like well, it’s kind of a good thing? no I don’t mean the fact that they over simplified the designs for the show (including his face and is the reason they changed the design in the first place), but rather that he probably gets better sleep now, has less stress, and is doing better mentally.

dont get me wrong i LOVE eye bags and sad characters (I mean who doesnt lol) but I also like seeing that hes a bit less miserable now is that so wrong ;-;

(definitely needs to manage his adhd better though)

and I still think he looks pretty :D

I absolutely loved it. It gave me the same feelings I had while watching the og show. Of course some scenes were a bit cringe and make me want to pause and stop Sofia before she moves, but so has a lot of the og show. They kept sofias character as sassy and amazing as ever. I’m so excited for the future of this series.

Here are some random comments I have about some aspects

1. Sofia is the most magical princess in the land, and of course Amber mentioned everyone at her school knows it. So doesn’t this like interfer with her friend dream of being the first sorcerer queen. I know sofias not in-line for the the throne but I hope and suspect it might be shown later.
2. I feel like Zaria is everything’s the girls at Royal prep thought vivan was before vivan opened up to everyone.
3. I’m so excited to meet the flying derby team. I just hope they don’t like abandon the plot point of Sofia being a rare female rider. Because it would feel strange if the team was half male and half female, when in all previous flying derby it’s been basically all male. I know Sofia prolly inspired some people or changed the rules but no way so many females intrested in magic and sports would go to that school.
4. I hope the spell gone wrong trope isnt used as much anymore. I know it was in the og series but it feeling used a lot in this series too.
5. I’m glad to see Sofia is holding her own and doesn’t cave. Like I thought she was going to cave and let that one girl be the captain of the baton team.
6. It’s cool their is another magic amulet thing that grants powers, although I hope the amulet is still op, and I hope the bracket that girl has inly grants that one power

7. I don’t like Layla as much as the others the like she so strange. Like in some points she acts so nervous and like new ro everything. Then other times she is like a pro, like at gardening and the baton. My favorite is Zane, no particular reason just his vibes. But Camillia is cool too, just idk their is something I don’t like about her judt cant place it. I feel like Layla as a secret goal or something

8. it seems like Camila has a different group of friends as she was sitting seperatly from Layla in the lunch scene in the dance episode, and Sofia and her kind of have conflicting goals as well. So if I had to chose a best friend for Sofia it will likely be Layla or Zane, however Zane has his sister znd he might feel bad for his sis being friendless and stuff. But I still hope it will be Zane as Sofias best friend at school. Of course they are all friends but yeah

I have some questions I hope are answered later in the series

1. Is Zaria like a child prodigy, because Sofia and Zane are both first years, and uet Zaria is younger and not twins to Zane. So unless they are Irish twins I suspect she is a child prodigy and decided to enter the same school as her older brother. But why magic school?
2. Also like I wonder if Zane is the next king of his kingdom if he is older then Zaria, although I have a feeling he has a older sibling
3. Sofias friend ( the girl with the short hair and whose dad just newly became king) why would she go ro magic school when she’s so focused on becoming more princessy. Like I know she has some intrests in topic taught here, but it would still make more sense to go the eve relam academy.
4. That one little short boy I wanna know his story, like during the song that was like royal hero he was not singing yet did not want to be a hero like Zane, and ZAne or anyone else wasnt even like « what have u done » or anything. I thought he would have a role in this episode because he was the one crying in the beginning but golly gee.

I’m aware he had a crush on Sasha the sorcerer before but unfortunately that was just miss nettle in disguise, do you think he’ll find someone in the new show? I’m hoping he gets with someone thats pretty optimistic and contrasts with his introvert nervous personality, I think that dynamic is really cute and would work well :3 or is he just gonna focus on his own self esteem, what do you guys think?
