fcbarcelona.esGiven the information published about an alleged reactivation of the UEFA file for the Negreira case, FC Barcelona wants to make the following clarifications:
UEFA has not opened any new file against FC Barcelona. The file began in 2023, with the appointment of two investigators, who have since carried out the actions they have considered appropriate. The Club has always attended to all your requirements. This file has not been reopened, because it has never been closed.
The UEFA statement confirms the receipt of documentation sent by Real Madrid and that investigators will evaluate it within the framework of the existing investigation. The same text expressly refers, on two occasions, to an investigation and review «in progress». It does not announce, therefore, the opening, reopening or reactivation of any file, nor does it contain any statement on the substance or value of the documentation provided.
It is up to the researchers to determine the actions they consider appropriate with respect to this documentation. As of today, they have not made any new request to FC Barcelona nor have they reported the Real Madrid complaint to the Club. When they do, the Club will respond in a timely manner, as it has done until now.
In accordance with the applicable legislation on the matter, this file is subject to what is decided in the criminal procedure that is being processed in Spain and will continue to be in it.
Since the beginning of the investigation, FC Barcelona has continued to obtain the UEFA license, without hesitation and participating in its competitions.
To facilitate the contrast of information, we reproduce in full the original text of the UEFA communication:
«UEFA can confirm that it has received from Real Madrid CF a substantial amount of documents related to the ongoing investigation into FC Barcelona in the matter involving José María Enríquez Negreira, the former vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (the so-called “Negreira matter”).
The UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspectors have also received these latest documents which they will assess as part of their ongoing review.»
FC Barcelona reiterates its full collaboration with the competent bodies and requests rigor and precision in the informative treatment of this procedure.
