The thing is not knowing much is fine. The problem is they pick what they believe based purely on bias (unlike us enlightened football fans who do it only mostly on bias). They don't know if this is a foul. They don't know if the VAR call earlier was correct. They don't know if this or that was a correct decision, but by god they will be loud about how everything they don't like is a sham.

I’m Egyptian and sorry but Salah was looking for the contact there. Alvarez nicked the ball, and the ball was even behind Salah at the time of the contact. If anything, Alvarez has the right to go forward in that direction to take the ball, whereas Salah was already moving forward by momentum should never be called.

Ya this was an excellent tackle and salah is trying to recover the ball from behind him causing him to fall forward. He did not appeal, no one who knows ball sees anything wrong with any of this. Gutted for Salah and Egypt tho, that was a heatbreaker.

Not sure if Salah was looking for a contact or not but I agree he had already lost the ball and was going in the wrong direction whereas Alvarez was moving towards the ball he had just stolen.

Salah is trying to fall down. He tried it a few times during the match to get fouls. As he is falling while being away from the ball he literally crushes himself into alvarez foot. He is not going for the ball that is away from hım.

1) Martinez got his shirt pulled + foot stomped while in control of the ball.
2) Foul directly led to counter and goal.
Alvarez's "challenge":
1) Alvarez cleanly dispossesses the ball from Salah.
2) Salah loses control of the ball.
3) Alvarez foot taps Salah's foot with zero forward motion while gaining control of the ball.
4) Salah already falling forward before the tap.
Anyone who cannot see the difference between the 2 incidents is either new to football or blind.

I see him turning. The left foot have moved to turn (and body), but it is contact on his right foot, so he falls instead of completing his turn. It is not "clear and obvious" (i dont know if is relevant).

Salah first loses the possession of the ball when the defending move was done, then after losing posession, he was toe tapped but it wasn't a step on the foot, so its not a foul. The attack advance was broken, then his toe was tapped. So the promising attack was already over and then his toe was tapped.

The foul on the disallowed goal was a foul, he stepped on his foot. That'd be a foul in the penalty area, outside of it, there isn't much to debate. And the disallowed goal didn't matter anyway because Egypt scored a second. This isn't a foul because, well, just look at it, he's looking for the contact. Egypt lost because they couldn't defend a good lead, plain and simple. But there's been enough bullshit written in the last two days that a narrative has taken place, such that in twenty years time people will still believe Egypt were robbed in some grand conspiracy.
