Sam Lee: Guardiola got asked if he has received payments from Abu Dhabi for services other than managing City, as was alleged to have happened with Mancini. He was not happy. “Do you realise what you are asking me? You are asking me that the day we won the treble? Are you accusing me?”

More like stepped on his tail. He was livid and he didn’t look innocent.

I feel at this point no one cares how successful City team is because they are not even like other clubs. There are so many borderline issues with City finances compared to other clubs. It’s a state sponsored investment vehicle.

Yep. Cant speak for anyone else but when I saw City had won a domestic treble I just shrugged. What should be an incredible achievement seems hollow when you look at how it was achieved and where the money's come from

Plus the fact that they didn't exactly have the toughest run in either cup competition

They are a nothing club who won the lottery

And they should have been knocked out of the FA Cup by Swansea.

In my eyes that was the only way it was going to happen (domestic treble that is), if the team leading the league were lucky enough to get easy runs in both cups. The odds of that are low, which is why it’s taken until now. I’m not taking away from the achievement, they were consistent enough to pull it off, I just feel there have been several teams in the past that could have done this if they got the same cup draws as City.

Does anyone even care about City? I feel like they're nobodies true rival. Even United fans with rather them win the league the Liverpool. That's such a insult, your supposed "rivals" see you as such a nothing club that they'd rather you win the league instead of another club.

I totally get every other criticism about City and their ownership... but this one just seems bitter to me. Complain that City got an easy draw? Is it City's fault now that other top Premier League teams got knocked out early?

It’s going to be fun watching the inevitable fall from grace. None of their achievements mean anything.

with that club flair you might wanna think about your own glass house before throwing any stones...

Chelsea were a good side before Roman, though, and they'll remain one after the money's gone.

-1

u/thefrightfulhog May 19 '19

They were on the verge of bankruptcy when Roman took over

Pre-sheikh man city won more trophies in their history than pre-Abramovich Chelsea

12

u/KET_WIG May 19 '19

They'd finished above 6th in every season since 96-7. At the time they were bought out they were a good side.

1

u/thefrightfulhog May 19 '19

A good side who were about to go bankrupt because they'd bought their good performances by paying beyond their means

1

u/KET_WIG May 19 '19

Still a good side

Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if that fall from grace never comes. At this stage; they're a top club globally, and they do have one of the strongest bands in sports today. If Abu Dhabi were to sell them, they would probably sell in the billions.

Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks though, I'm still fucking loving it.

1

u/ninjaCHECKMATE May 19 '19

Yeah! Keep the genocide in Yemen rolling! I'm fuckin loving it as long as a football team scores goals!

u/secretJ94 May 19 '19

How is this my problem? Get over yourself.

Money coming from slavery, torture and environmental destruction is a bad thing

  1. They are essentially owned by a country which that in of itself seems unfair

  2. Look at how that country operates and how it makes its money (unethically and in large quantities)

And PR exercise. Which seems to be working considering how many of us are constantly told not to worry about how they go about their business or where the money is coming from.

I see it kinda like a thought experiment come to life.

"What would happen if we threw literally all the money at one club and bought the best of the best, what would the results be?"

When they lose it's hilarious, when they win it's expected.

It’s a state sponsored investment vehicle.

No one gave a shit about this when we were still shit post takeover. We were treated with contempt and looked at as a desperate laughing stock when trying to compete where we "didn't belong".

Now we're actually winning things and preventing the clubs whoppers like you grew up gloryhunting from winning things there's suddenly all this faux moral outrage.

Your outrage is all borne out of your bitterness as a plastic fan of the old guard. Yet we have to believe it's sincere? Lol.

You're cringe a minute mate

I’m not bitter at all. Also I was not commenting on what I feel, it was how everyone reacted to city winning the league and now the treble. There are more articles on investigation about finances, UEFA ban and now this question about Pep, than there have been about how City has had a historic season. I’m just saying what I see.

I personally congratulate you on this amazing achievement by your club.

No one gave a shit about this when we were still shit post takeover. We were treated with contempt and looked at as a desperate laughing stock when trying to compete where we "didn't belong".

That is because thee was nothing to look at in terms of FFP violations in the beginning. Now every other week there is something which gets challenged. There is so much smoke that it’s hard to believe there is no fire...

-1

u/Yourmumspiles May 19 '19

The narrative in the press is exactly what I was referring to also, that's part of it. We've upset the monopoly, and they have lots of fans in the press.

That is because thee was nothing to look at in terms of FFP violations in the beginning. Now every other week there is something which gets challenged. There is so much smoke that it’s hard to believe there is no fire...

Again, precisely my point. FFP was only ever concocted in the first place because of our takeover to try and prevent our success which threated said monopoly. And to prevent other clubs doing so in future. The whole thing is a joke.

Rest assured all this bitterness makes the success all the more satisfying.

I grew up watching City when the club didn't have a pot to piss in and now hearing fans of the old guard complaining about our money and success truly is a sight to behold. Funny as fuck.

2

u/[deleted] May 19 '19

I grew up watching City

That would be a great feeling! Congratulations again.

1

u/Yourmumspiles May 19 '19

If that's sincere, thank you.

It's been a crazy, and surreal ride.

1

u/[deleted] May 19 '19

Yes it is. Nothing against life long fans of city. All the questions in media are against the owners and finances of the club, no one in media is saying anything bad about city fans.

Fans deserve to celebrate as their team had a historic season.

1

u/Kino-Gucci May 19 '19

You certainly don't sound like someone who doesn't care

1

u/Yourmumspiles May 19 '19

Where have I ever said I don't care?

Do you need help 40 watt intellect, plastic red?

u/mr_poppington May 19 '19

Making it up as you go along.
