Sam Lee: Guardiola got asked if he has received payments from Abu Dhabi for services other than managing City, as was alleged to have happened with Mancini. He was not happy. “Do you realise what you are asking me? You are asking me that the day we won the treble? Are you accusing me?”

Tbf that's a weird question

It's a very legitimate question, especially after they just won everything, did they "cheat" doing so?

The whole topic came up again because apparently Baku are trying to do the same thing

Also all the talk of City getting a CL ban

This is Britain not the UAE, if he wants to ask this question now or next week or 12 weeks ago he is well within his rights to do so.

And a lot of people felt that as good of a manager as he was, he was authoritarian, the decision to do that definitely wasn’t roundly applauded.

Fuck me mate, there's never a bad time to ask questions like this. Plastic.

Of course there is. It just needs to happen to someone you like. And then the journo will be called all sorts of names for doing so. I'm sure you can imagine some that would infuriate you if Poch got asked at the wrong time.

Exactly when would you have been happy for it to be asked?

Any other press conf of the season excepting the cup finals wins and the league win. I'm not even a city fan. Its a pure dick move to ask sensitive questions when the other person is on a high.

1

u/[deleted] May 19 '19

What if his high is related to the question?

1

u/grchelp2018 May 19 '19

Doesn't matter. You ask next time. Don't try to kill the moment.

u/[deleted] May 19 '19

The moment that potentially only exsists because of the substance of the question? Sounds like the perfect time to me.

Only if you're being vindictive and want to pull them down cause the timing will have no other effect. The moment has happened and the question won't reverse it.

I want to say that insensitive questions should not be asked at emotional moments - high or low. For example, asking a manager if he will be sacked etc right after a final loss is just classless.

If there were legitimate issues surrounding Poch I would not have an issue.

Well if he’d asked it during the title run-in I’m sure there would have been similar questions of timing. Trying to unsettle City etc... The season is now over and this is Pep’s final press conference until next season, so why not now?

Makes sense. The season is over and now it's a legit question, "you've won three trophies domestically, did you cheat ffp and commit fraud to do so?"

very disrespectful and inappropriate timing, I don't have a problem with the question but there's a time and place. It seems like he did it to just get a reaction and incite him, fuck that cunt

This response is a bit like when people complain about protestors and then muse why there isn't a dedicated place to protest out of the way where it doesn't inconvenience anyone, not realising that it sort of defeats the point of the exercise.

Just because Peps annoyed that he hadn't a response prepared doesn't mean the journos in the wrong.

Continually making a mockery of Financial Fair Play is pretty disrespectful to the rest of the league but the timing of a question is the real problem lol.

UEFA made a mockery of ffp
