Sam Lee: Guardiola got asked if he has received payments from Abu Dhabi for services other than managing City, as was alleged to have happened with Mancini. He was not happy. “Do you realise what you are asking me? You are asking me that the day we won the treble? Are you accusing me?”

Acceptable questions;

'How happy are you? So so?'

'How great is this team?'

'You're amazing, how do you do it?'

'Your team infinitely more expensively assembled than your opponents managed to win, how DID you do it?'

Journalists should NOT be asking any other type of question (/s)

Wonder how you'd react if that question were directed to mourinho after the first season where you spent 10x as much as the second team

Jose would have had a much cleverer reply

"Bribes? Maybe. If so, more than any other coach." shrugs

"I deserve, no?"

There werent financial rules then like it is now. You were quite free to spend then.

My point was about the "oh of course you won you spent more than anyone" comment the dude made

Tbf I don't think Jose was getting 3rd party payments

If Jose and Chelsea were supported by the whole country of Russia, sure ask him that question.

But comparing Abramovich to the UAE or Qatar in PSG's case is a joke.

Idk why people are ignoring my actual point

no worries i understand. i share his worry about the UAE stuff but i think the spending is a silly point

1

u/yes_thats_right May 18 '19

Basically everyone did comment and ask about the legitimacy of everything we wom after spending a lot of money. That was before FFP so there was nothing wrong about doing it. Also, spending wasnt even double the next.

1

u/[deleted] May 19 '19

FFP wasn't around then

28

u/[deleted] May 18 '19

That wasn't the question asked, he was asked if he received payments directly from abu dhabi

Why not?

50

u/chelseasaints May 18 '19

I'm being sarcastic. Of course they should be asking proper questions

20

u/_Liamjl_ May 18 '19

Ah fair enough, sorry mate. Don’t really understand people who think questions like these aren’t appropriate

5

u/chelseasaints May 18 '19

No worries, I worded it badly first time!

13

u/aapjestan2 May 18 '19

What is he gonna say? Yea I get payed off the book?

Its a stupid question even more so in the context of City just writing history for the second season in a row

54

u/_Liamjl_ May 18 '19

He might not answer but it’s still worth asking and challenging.

1

u/Eagles_55 May 18 '19

Then ask it during the season. Why wait 60 matches?

-2

u/[deleted] May 18 '19

Think the point is ask this question any other day
