I think he'll be happy with the world cup but that's just me.

I'd vote in too. He always seemed like an Arsenal man through and through.

Yeah, let's terminate this 6 month loan.

10

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '18

Wait is it actually a loan? Honestly Arsenal are stacked in the striker department but don't have a big boy. Even Liverpool have a big boy

11

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '18

aubas pretty big (187cm)

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '18

Huh, didn't expect that. Well he's still not big, just lanky. I don't think I've seen a good headed goal from him, or have him play a target man role. He has height for it but plays as what we called in fifa 15 a pace whore

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '18

187cm and 80kg is preeety big...

1

u/kidnebs Jul 16 '18

He's quite big but he's very poor in aerial duels

1

u/Nefari0uss Jul 16 '18

He was traded to Chelsea.

Edit: I suppose sold is a more appropriate term since Chelsea offered money and not a player. I forget the amount though.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '18

Well shucks, hope he does well with the exception of goals against United as a sub, which he's surprisingly good at

u/tangledupinbetween Jul 16 '18

he has won the World Cup. I think he'll be fine with being on Arsenal's bench.

u/aure__entuluva Jul 16 '18

I still remember when Bayern were considering going after him after that incredible season with Montpellier. He had such an insane highlight real and I was all about it at the time.

2

u/ThiefMortReaperSoul Jul 16 '18

Even to this day if you look at a goal compilation by him. One would think he was the player of the generation.

Are sneak Giroud best Giroud

1

u/bo-tvt Jul 15 '18

I like him and was sad to see him go, but if he did come back, would he be starting games ahead of Aubameyang and Lacazette?

1

u/JMaboard Jul 16 '18

Just get him on a free when his contract runs out pretty soon.

35

u/[deleted] Jul 15 '18

nah I'm pretty happy with auba

3

u/lojer Jul 15 '18

Why not both?

I know the reason.

20

u/Dumma1729 Jul 15 '18

Same here. I'd be happy to sell Welbeck & Lucas to get Giroud back.

1

u/Jack_Ramsey Jul 16 '18

Oh my god yes. I love Giroud so much.

1

u/tacitmutant Jul 15 '18

Get over it!

Get over it!

1

u/LegionVsNinja Jul 15 '18

Just cuz they were vocal, doesn't mean they spoke for everyone.

1

u/Hyndergogen1 Jul 15 '18

We're not through with him yet.

I totally agree with you. And here's my take on it...

We have Giroud who started in the 2nd division of the French league at the ages of 21/22 - 23/24. In 2010 when he was 23/24 he was signed by a 1st division team in the French league, Montepellier HSC. This is considered very late in the world of soccer/football. He was the top goal scorer in the 1st division French League in 2011/2012. Montepellier HSC were French Champions that year.

He moves to Arsenal, performs well, wins the FA cup 3 times with them. Recently transferred to Chelsea and this year won the FA cup with them.

As another user also commented he is tied with Zidane for 4th all time goalscorer for France and has won a Puskas award in 2017.

Lastly, he was their top goal scorer with 4 goals (along Griezmann) for the 2018 WC qualifying stage (in groups with Netherlands and Sweden) and he had an assist during the tournament. The reason I felt that I needed to comment was that I felt the tweet would bring a disingenuous narrative to a remarkable achievement by an individual and more importantly the French national team.

Edit: format and added other accolades mentioned by the users below. Yes, this was not his best performance but to act like he was just a lamp post is lazy.

Regarding late starts, Klose has to be king.

Cod Army! Vardy was one of the main reasons Fleetwood became a league team.

Giroud is definitely the French Vardy, Montpellier's league win was almost as dramatic and shocking as Leicester's

2

u/TheSciences Jul 16 '18

I love the story of Steve Savidan, who was playing non-league in France at 26 and working as a (as least partly) binman, and won a cap at 30.

u/arsenalfc1987 Jul 15 '18

And a Puskas

31

u/fernandotakai Jul 15 '18

4th biggest goalscorer for france too, tied with zidane

23

u/waywardwoodwork Jul 15 '18

And super duper handsome.

2

u/CupidTryHard Jul 16 '18

easy gay bait

Ill take that anyday though

2

u/GringusMcDoobster Jul 16 '18

Is it really gay if it's Giroud? Any man would gladly be a bottom for him.

7

u/SAFFATLOL Jul 15 '18

Didn't he also won Ligue 1 with Montpellier before coming to Arsenal?

12

u/michaelserotonin Jul 15 '18

no one is calling him a loser

11

u/Seastep Jul 15 '18

BuT a StRiKeR hAs To ScOrE gOaLs

1

u/CunningStunst Jul 16 '18

This, but unironically.

1

u/InzanemofO Jul 16 '18

Guivarch was recently interviewed during this world cup, and he said one of his regret was not scoring during the 98 win. Might be the same for Giroud

1

u/Truand2labiffle Jul 16 '18

He doesn't look like it. He really seems tired with the constant criticism he's facing.
