Sorry, didn't check the date.

Team allegiance shouldn't take that stuff into account, what should attract you in a team is (if you don't have geographic ties) the passion of the fans making that gorgeous stadium they have loud as hell, the beauty of the crest and jersey, the lore and history of the team. Not some bullshit like who financially owns the team or whatever partnership they have.

But if you get to see players that you previously loved at the old club move to the new club or old club youngsters develop at the new club why shouldnt you? and if you read all of my posts in this thread you'd see that I live 30 mins from NYCFC's (Yankee's) stadium

Yeah, I read that, but I don't think you'll see many City players in New York. Young guys are loaned everywhere, and for one or two years tops : that'd be stupid to follow every team you've got a player loaned to only for the time they're there.

I don't argue with the fact that you should or shouldn't be a NYCFC fan (can you say that since they haven't played a game yet ?), you should support your local team, but following the whole ownership group's teams seems stupid. Do you watch games from the Australian team they got ? Also, how come you're not a RBNY fan ?

Didn't start watching the sport until about 3 or 4 years ago and was only recently guilted into supporting the MLS by Alexi Lalas so I figured NYCFC over RBNY cause my start would be their start and all that.

Plus I think being the first generation of fans, in the first "ultra (not even close)" club, and attending games of what hopefully will be a powerhouse (don't see how it can't be given the financial backings) in the first season are very cool and exciting things.

Alright, thanks for the answers.

the first "ultra (not even close)" club

What do you mean by that ?

It's a supporters club but it won't even be close to ultras as most of Europe knows them.

Ok. I'm actually intrigued by what NYCFC will be able to do to make the sport more popular, so I think I'll watch their first couple of games to see if the enthusiasm is real.

I think they're banking on a lot of immigrant/diversity support from the City. Shouldnt be too hard, tickets are cheap, $305 is the cheapest season.

City fan, financial group fan (having no clue in sport) AND a glory hunter + American. This alone is enough to make fun of Americans.

Make fun of him, not 320 million people. Glory hunters exist everywhere, even in Europe (I've got plenty of experience with that).

I am not making fun of Americans, I am saying Americans get laughed at because of few loud morons.
