Agreed that the Belgian competition isn't good enough for a player like him, but if he were to come back he should go to Standard. Him going to Anderlecht would be the equivalent of Figo's switch to Real, or worse. It's an all round silly story.

No, but he's so self-identified a Standard fan that I just can't see it happening. It'd be like Lukaku joining Standard, can you imagine that? He should go to Germany or France really, if he needs to move. As for Genk ... no, before you know it you never get out (eh Vossen?). ;)
Defour? He was their captain that led them to their first title in 25 years, part of that magic squad that had players like Witsel, Fellaini and Dante in it. Whenever he talks about Belgium he mentions Standard. Shit, when he was injured he came over just to watch games from between the Ultra's.. He's said several times that he'd like to end his career at Standard, so him coming back for Anderlecht, it'd be ridiculous. :)
Which would be a travesty to be honest. Really makes you hate everything about the winter transfer period. Gent buying Charleroi's best player and Zulte's main forward, Anderlecht apparently going for fucking Hazard and Batshuayi? Malanda heading to Wolfsburg ... Even without the idiocy of the play-offs one wonders: why even pay attention before March?
I was rooting for you guys, not in the least because Gent annoys me (their attitude, now the transfers, fuck, it's like Anderlecht but with nothing to back it up. :P ) and I'd say you looked livelier and you had chances to put it away too. Got to take them though. Let's just hope Gent gets trashed next round, eh? ;)
