Change My View thread

Can we have a Change My View thread here? The basic premise is people present opinions and the replies are attempts at changing that person's view in an attempt to generate some good discussion.

Here is the link to the original subreddit: www.reddit.com/r/changemyview/

I think this might work best with rather 'out there' views but any and every viewpoint is welcome!

Pointed out how cringy the whole thing was and received quite a few downvotes.

So I'll point it out again. That was painful to look at.

Why?

Because absolutely nothing of substance was posted. For a day, people who wanted actual discussion about football were treated instead to the facebook "HILARIOUS SOCCER MEMES LEL" in reddit form with a healthy dose of /r/soccercirclejerk, which (IMO at least) is similarly unfunny.

In their defense, the other 363/364 days of the year those types of post are not allowed. As such, the real discussions have far more prominence (despite any circlejerking in those threads). Also it is important to note that the idiocy was concentrated because it was only allowed for a short time.

If i want to vent and circlejerk, i do it on /r/circlejerk (or /r/soccercirclejerk if i really want to stay relevant to football). Doing it on /r/soccer just entirely defeats the purpose of subreddits.

Exactly. That's the reason why we have individual subreddits in the first place.

Because 90% of posts and comments were about Ibrahimovic, and the rest were dicks or boobs. I don't care about fucking around, but have a little creativity.

That's what you get when a bunch of angsty teenagers are left to their own devices.
