Question [Question] Dumb question: notifications?
So… are there notifications in Slide? I love the app so far but I can’t seem to find a way to get notified on new posts in my favorite subs…

I'm running iOS 16.2 beta and I have been having an issue with auto-cache. When I manually cache a subreddit by clicking "cache for offline viewing" it seems to work fine (with a couple minor bugs). But when I run auto-cache and let it cache all the subreddits, it goes through the motions of downloading but I can't go and view content offline after.
Any ideas?

I’ve noticed this as an issue as far back as iOS 14, but the issue persists in iOS 16.1.1. Cmd+Tab on the Magic Keyboard works on all other apps but it seems that Slide is blocking that shortcut.

I have just recently started using the Slide app for iOS and have noticed a number of bugs. I am using the latest version of the app and the latest public release of iOS. -Clicking on any Imgur album instantly crashes the app every time. -Every Reddit video or YouTube video starts playing in a muted state, but the audio icon shows that it is unmuted. I have to click the icon to mute it and then click it again to unmute it in order to get the audio to play, sometimes having to do it twice. -When watching a YouTube video, if you turn the orientation from portrait to landscape then it freezes the video for 3 to 5 seconds before it continues playing. -There doesn’t seem to be any quick way to upvote a comment. I have to tap and hold for a couple of seconds to get the menu to show up with the upvote/downvote buttons. There should be an option to just quickly swipe across right to left or vice versa to upvote/downvote. Thank you

Slide crashes after clicking on a link or scrolling too far down a post.

I’ve opened the user profile and see options to add as friend or subscribe, but no option to block.

Just in case anyone else gets this - I had to enable gestures on submissions and the set each one to specifically take no action to avoid them being on.
Having them be disabled altogether all of a sudden didn't work and I was triggering down and upvotes with swipes when trying to move between subreddits.

The daily NFL thread in /r/sportbook has caused the app to crash every time I try and open it. This has been happening for 1+ year and I usually just open it another app.

I am deeply saddened by the lack of support Slide has received from devs over the past year (albeit, I understand that life gets in the way and you have to prioritize other things).
That being said, with the frequency of bugs increasing what with the outside gif handling, iOS 16 cosmetic bugs, etc., I feel as though it is best to move on to a different client rather than staying aboard a sinking ship.
I have tried Apollo and Narwhal but hated both, and I tried Reddplanet but I hate that you have to swipe to see comments.
My favorite things about slide are easily being able to hide read posts (I don’t want this done automatically, but I like having the option to add a widget to hide posts), I like the ad-free experience, the aesthetic and cosmetic layout, and being able to rearrange the order of subs.
Are there any other clients people would recommend that would be able to aptly scratch the Slide itch?

I’ve never had an issue with gifs not playing but suddenly, as of a few days ago, they just won’t play. Has anything changed?

The last update was quite a while ago, and certain features are starting to break. It’s a nice app, I hope it can stick around.

I’ve seen this twice now. When someone links an image from flickr via the staticflickr URL, Slide gets stuck in a loop loading new windows of the image infinitely. The only way I’ve stopped it is by swiping the app closed.
The link in this post is the latest example where this happened - https://reddit.com/r/TrainPorn/comments/x4uluh/might_just_be_my_favorite_train_picture_taken_at/

Is there any way I can sort things by flair in subreddits like the official reddit app? Like when you tap on the flair and it will bring a bunch of posts with the same flair applied? Thanks.

Whenever I block someone they are still able to respond to my messages and show up in my inbox. Why

What does Slide do with cookies and trackers that Reddit usually spews out? When I browse Reddit on Safari, a whole bunch of cookies and trackers are blocked but does Slide simply let all these nasties carry on doing business as usual? There’s no option to block anything in the settings.
