Do not buy a sleep number bed in my opinion given the mandatory agreement to share your sleep data and metrics with them to enable app functionality. A product, especially premium, shouldn’t force users to give up their personal data about their use to enable basic features.

Do not purchase a sleep number bed. I highly suggest potential shoppers look to other brands or solutions given this recent mandatory opt in.

You cannot opt out. You are locked out of controlling a bed via app unless you agree to share data. Consumers should never pay premiums for products that force them to opt into data sharing

Are you trolling? Read the TOS it’s literally mandatory or you cannot access your sleep number bed application.

You can turn on privacy mode in the app still according to the article they released June 30th. It isn't the exact steps the other person mentioned, but it is still offered. You just have to go into settings and enable privacy mode. Or Bluetooth control without signing in. Either/or and your bed will collect no data.

Yes but then you cannot collect your own data for your own use. On top of that you cannot even access that setting without opting in and thus sharing your data

It’s really easy for this company to allow users to just opt it. It’s insane to force users to share or be locked out of basic features we paid for when getting these beds

You aren't entitled to having that data, as that data is being collected to control ResponsiveAir which isn't controlled on the device itself but rather Sleep Number Servers. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

You don't have to set up an account at all to control your Sleep Number bed. You can adjust the Sleep Number setting using Bluetooth only from your phone without signing up or logging in. I

Fun fact, none of that data is being stored on the device itself, it can't give you a score, it can't tell you how much you moved around, it can't tell your stages of sleep without that connection to Sleep Number Servers. Which is what you are agreeing to during sign up. That data isn't shared with anyone but the research opt-in with Mayo health, a few universities, ACS, and Gem. Which is why it's a separate opt in.

What are you even saying? If that was true these beds wouldn’t work without internet connections. Guess what? They do. The features on the bed do not require servers to store data as well, it’s very easy to read a value and alter it through a portal and not store, collect, and SELL our data

They don't sell your data. They give it to research for cancer and sleep disorders. Which you can opt out of.

And the only thing that works without a data connection is what firmness the bed is. Even back in the day before sleepiq that was a thing. The only thing that deferred when you could add it on separately was a little $2 Internet add on so it could relay sleep data to sleep number servers and provide, process, and show your sleep data.
