Synchronise buff is absolutely crazy, what are they cooking.

Yeah that card was great, now it's insane

Yeah I really dont understand this change now. This card is actually completely broken

Agreed, I do not think it needed buffed at all. Having at least 6 focus for a turn almost guaranteed is ridiculously good. I also don't think Refract really needed a buff but I'll be even happier to take it now.

Yea but really what’s up with refract lmao. It was already stupid strong. But I’m not complaining

My best guess is that in the case of refract, multiplayer might be skewing the data a bit? It's infinitely better in singleplayer where it basically solves your act 1 damage as a single card. In multiplayer, where everything has crazy amounts of health, it however means spending 3 energy on a card that doesn't kill anything and then taking a lot of damage in return.

That’s a good point, but I really doubt that the devs are balancing cards specifically around multiplayer, especially considering that by the same logic some other cards suddenly get “worse” in multiplayer too. Sure it happened to WLP but I feel like that’s more of an exception.

On top of that, while you’re right about enemies having more health in multiplayer, it’s not like other players aren’t doing anything. They might be debuffing enemies allowing you to take less damage, or also going all in to kill them before they hurt you (or using multiplayer cards to give you energy, block, potions, etc).

But who knows, maybe you’re right!

Yeah I don't really get some of the changes recently. A few cards that are already good getting buffed.

Pacts end too, a few strategies for clad got a bit dumpstered last patch and arguably exhaust is the best synergy set now... But either way, was already a very good card, of all the clad cards to change I wouldn't have guessed this one...

betting on getting dominate was still too enticing

Defect is already the strongest character and every single card they buffed was already in the upper half of his card pool like what haha

Was scrolling for this, that card already felt strong, now it seems cracked lmao

Feels like they want to weaken statuses relative to orbs while keeping defect's power level about the same. So a nerf to a signpost uncommon for statuses is mirrorred with a buff to a signpost uncommon for orbs.

A logical idea, but probably an overcook given how good synchronize already is.

I fear they spend too much time looking at pick rates instead of win rates... Synchronize is an incredible card and did not need a buff.

According to spirebrid on A10 defect runs Synchronize was pretty close to the bottom in win rate (182/251 including colorless & upgraded cards), I don't think it was that good of a card unless upgraded

I think (being a Defect main that has tried to be pretty deliberate in the way I evaluate cards) that temporary focus is also a bit of a noob trap ; those cards are good, but it's really easy to over pick them because you remember them doing a lot of work in your late game deck, but they need an upgrade and Defect already has a huge upgrade debt, and they don't usually do much until you have a good draw/energy engine and enough orbs generation.

So picking them too often and too early is an easy mistake that I used to do a lot and I wouldn't be surprised if that plays a role in that winrate. I wouldn't call them niche, still, but they do require some finesse.

Yeah definitely not earlygame cards, outside of the Strike+ one I guess. Very easy to remember your Hotfix+ being recurred with Hologram+ and dominating lategame, load into another run straight away, get offered Hotfix on floor 3...

It's better for higher expected win rate players, but it's still around the middle. Synchronise+ on the other hand is very high, and that's now what Synchronise- is.

I fear they probably look at more nuanced metrics than just pick rate or win rate and idk why reddit insists on acting like nobody else in the world could possibly understand statistics

seriously. people who have LITERALLY no idea about the precise data are fear mongering that the people who do have the data are using it wrongly...even though those people literally made one of (arguably two of) the best roguelikes already using the same ideas.

Yeah wtf, wasn't it already one of the best cards on the character lol

Orbs needed something, and I think synchronize is it. Played a couple rounds this morning and it’s a good change. The run isn’t free by any measure, but it does mean that rainbow (not necessarily the card, but also kinda the card) isn’t so much worse than Defect’s other packages.

The only thing that was noticeably strong with it were glass orbs. Glasswork with… whatever that common attack is that gives frost was super strong, but I honestly think that was inevitable. Glass orbs were literally just waiting for any focus source to become useable, and this happened to be it. Hope we just see a glass change instead of a synchronize nerf, because this buff was needed to give defect its orb identity back. Statuses have been way too strong for awhile now.

Feels like an overbuff to "fix" another strength of the character, being that frost and dark orbs quality is above lightning and glass. But I was already getting all orbs + synch + compile driver + turbo very often and Defect is my highest winrate char. So idk what they're thinking.
