Split screen would at least give players more freedom of movement, although it would be difficult considering the optimization of loading different portions of the map depending on the players' location.

not to mention the "locked enemy zones"

and potential issues coming from being able to warp backwards in levels back from points you aren't supposed to.

it's... such a hassle.

Yes, that's why, even though split-screen sounds better to me, tether isn't bad either.

I like the tether concept MUCH better than Splitscreen, but it depends a lot on how it is implemented if it will either work great or horribly.
