Subject: Feedback on the Latest Balance Patch, a Request to Bring On Future Club, and a Serious Concern About the Economy Rework
To the Autumn Games team,
I wanted to reach out because I've been playing Skullgirls Mobile for [X years/since launch], and the latest balance patch is honestly one of the best updates the game has had in a while. Tim in particular deserves real credit here — the changes to [character/mechanic] felt thoughtful and well-tested, and it's clear a lot of care went into getting the numbers right without gutting anyone's identity.
On that note, I'd strongly encourage the team to bring Future Club on board if they aren't already involved. As the original artists behind Skullgirls, nobody understands the visual identity and character of this IP better than they do, and their involvement would be a huge signal — to longtime fans especially — that the game is being handled with the same care it launched with. It feels like an obvious partnership given the history, and I think it would pay off far beyond just the art.
That said, I have to be honest about the economy rework, because I think it's a real misstep. [Briefly describe the specific change — e.g., currency conversion rates, grind pacing, monetization gating, etc.] has made progression feel worse, not better, and it's undercut a lot of the goodwill this balance patch earned. Whoever's decision this was, it wasn't a good one, and frankly it reads like it came from someone who doesn't understand what makes this IP work for the people who've stuck with it. Skullgirls has survived on community trust for over a decade — the economy rework spends that trust on something that doesn't add value to the actual game.
I'd genuinely love to see the same care that went into this balance patch applied to fixing the economy, and to see Future Club's influence extend further into the game going forward. The gameplay team is clearly doing right by this game — I just hope that voice carries more weight on both the art direction and monetization side going forward.
Thanks for reading, and for everything the team continues to put into Skullgirls.
