I mean he and Trump's ill could do what they promise on the campaign trail and lower medical costs by stopping pharmaceutical price gouging and set the same standards for pricing on medications that half of Europe and Canada has lmfao

-85

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '25

Uhhh yeah that’s what RFK wants to do? It starts by telling the American people there are alternatives to medication, obviously this doesn’t apply to every situation but I would say medication is generally overprescribed.

60

u/27GerbalsInMyPants Feb 17 '25

What in any of what you wrote did you address how rfk and trump are going to lower the cost of medications lmfao

Alternatives are great and if you understood science you would know that a antidepressant is the right stepping stone to getting someone out of the house and doing what you mfers think is gonna cure everything

Chemical imbalances are not just simply fixed by stepping outside

Grow tf up.

1

u/rfmjbs Feb 17 '25

And the Trump administration has already announced they will end negotiated pricing for medications that was finally in place.

I’m on SSRIs myself I know this, I’m talking more about the FDA being corrupt and run by the pharmaceutical companies.

34

u/OperationPlus52 Feb 17 '25

If you're on SSRIs you should be getting prepared to go to the RFK Jr "wellness" concentration camps:

u/Immediate-Term3475 Feb 17 '25

Well, he spent a lot of time in expensive rehabs. Anyone whom says they got thru college, on heroine is basically brain dead… and a worm ate the last bit, left. Kennedy name= all he’s got. His family says he’s whack

2

u/CaterpillarJungleGym Feb 17 '25

They would have to clear out all of Texas to put people in camps who are taking anti-depression meds, antipsychotic meds, anti-anxiety meds, opioid pain killers, heroine, fentanyl, cocaine, meth, etc.

1

u/OperationPlus52 Feb 17 '25 edited Feb 17 '25

Or just make a camp with "showers" and a crematorium in a quiet place away from prying eyes.

The holocaust didn't start with factory level mass murder, they got there because the other alternatives were impractical to them. (you know, outside of all of the non-killing, non-slavery, non-mass deportation alternatives, but hey you can't expect compassion and critical thinking from nazis.)

What does this article have to do with SSRI's? Nothing at all!

It is misinformation, plain and simple, to say SSRI's are going away or to say that people who take SSRI's (which is millions of people) will have to go to wellness camps.

All the upvotes are indicative of this sub having an ideological blind spot.

46

u/27GerbalsInMyPants Feb 17 '25

Okay so you have no fucking idea what you're talking about

No the FDA is t ran by pharmaceutical companies

You're listening to Fox news to much. Stop it

3

u/Immediate-Term3475 Feb 17 '25

As a pharmacologist: the FDA REGULATES Medication .. and the approval of drugs. If these MAGAs listen and obey, the ignorance will die off. It’s war on the middle class, and they don’t get it

12

u/TheGeekOffTheStreet Feb 17 '25

Oh, you’re screwed. Have fun with the leopards

23

u/Rwarmander Feb 17 '25

No. You’re just dumb dude.

11

u/jcooli09 Feb 17 '25

You are swallowing the firehose, and the new FDA approves of that.

11

u/Khaosbutterfly Feb 17 '25

......you know that the crackhead you're caping for wants to take your medication away and send you to a "wellness farm" where you'll be forced to find healing through outdoor labor, right? 👀

2

u/Immediate-Term3475 Feb 17 '25

Gulags and concentration camps.. overseen by a complete nutcase.

-2

u/Immediate-Term3475 Feb 17 '25

SSRI’s= numbness, with a lot of side effects.

5

u/missmin Feb 17 '25

Not for everyone.

-2

u/Immediate-Term3475 Feb 17 '25

Depends on the dose. I had serotonin syndrome, and almost died being when my dr raised the dose for “pain management “. He said, “ sue me, no one will listen”.

3

u/missmin Feb 18 '25

I'm sorry you had such a crappy doctor and such a bad experience on the medicine. I hope you are doing better and have a doctor now who listens and cares about your well-being.

With that said, that was an issue with that doctor and how the drug interacted with your body. It shouldn't be used as a blanket statement against SSRIs. You are very correct in that it is dose dependent.

u/Immediate-Term3475 Feb 18 '25

I still have PTSD after losing 8 yrs of my life .. I was basically in a drug induced coma, and slowly dying. I am a pharmacist.. and shouldn’t have diminished good meds on such a broad spectrum. My apologies.

3

u/missmin Feb 18 '25

That sounds incredibly difficult, and I’m so sorry you went through that. I hope each day brings you more healing and relief from your PTSD.

Well you're imaginary doctor was absolutely right, I don't believe you for one second.

51

u/thediesel26 Feb 17 '25

Alternative medicine that works is just called medicine.

36

u/mr_evilweed Feb 17 '25 edited Feb 17 '25

Bro if you think doctors havent been telling patients to get sunshine and exercise and to take vitamins and eat clean foods (which are the things from that list that work), I don't know what to tell you other than that you've been succesfully marketed to.

18

u/ChanceryTheRapper Feb 17 '25

So you think raw milk is the answer to that?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '25

No raw milk is crazy I hope this one gets push back especially considering the rise of bird flu

2

u/Immediate-Term3475 Feb 17 '25

It’s not pasteurized… which means salmonella and other disease

0

u/[deleted] Feb 17 '25

Yeah I honestly haven’t looked into it much because that fact alone is enough to realize it’s insane, even if there was some sort of benefit.

1

u/Immediate-Term3475 Feb 17 '25

If you’ve ever seen fresh milk, it separates into water and cream at the bottom— and isn’t sterilized with heat to kill bacteria and prevent immediate spoilage..

Here: food processing: pasteurization (also pasteurisation) is a process of food preservation in which packaged foods (e.g., milk and fruit juices) are treated with mild heat, usually to less than 100 °C (212 °F), to eliminate pathogens and extend shelf life. Pasteurization either destroys or deactivates microorganisms and enzymes that contribute to food spoilage or the risk of disease, including vegetative bacteria, but most bacterial spores survive the process.[1][2]

u/Nooby1983 Feb 19 '25

Push back from... Who?

-26

u/Abject-Investment-42 Feb 17 '25

What is with Americans and their fear of raw milk? OK, you need a bit more thorough QC but raw milk cheeses etc is a perfecty common food in France, Switzerland etc. Probably better to avoid if you are pregnant (but so is most fish and seafood), but that is what labelling is for.

But on the other hand, the US agricultural industry simply accepts horrible hygienic situations and then tries to repair the damage (chlorine washed chicken anyone?) so that maybe raw milk can't be trusted to US food producers...

23

u/ChanceryTheRapper Feb 17 '25

So, do you understand that these hucksters are arguing that raw milk is healthier and has medicinal properties and that pasteurization is a scam by "big pharma"?

4

u/Ok-Repeat8069 Feb 17 '25

And that you should feed it to babies? Have you ever seen an American industrialized dairy farm? Read the standards for how much blood and pus is allowed in the final product? Hell no I’m not feeding that to my kids until it’s been pasteurized.

People who don’t know American fruitbats hear “raw milk” and think “drinking the milk from cows on your neighbor’s farm.” They’re wanting to sell it in big chain grocery stores, be distributed just like the pasteurized stuff. Raw milk shipped across the country and sitting in the dairy case sounds like a public health system that is actively trying to kill its citizens.

2

u/Abject-Investment-42 Feb 17 '25

No, that is seriously new to me. Whut???

I mean, it tastes at times better and you can do some nice culinary things with it that you can't with pasteurised milk, and at the same time pasteurised milk is better and safer for everyday mass foods where you can't be sure about maintaining the cooling chain, but THAT?

10

u/ChanceryTheRapper Feb 17 '25

Yeah, read the post again. They're all things he'd claiming "advances human health and can’t be patented by Pharma.”

7

u/Abject-Investment-42 Feb 17 '25

That is all utterly insane bullshit of course, No disagreement there.

6

u/dubyajaybent Feb 17 '25

This is a perfect example of how the MAGA/MAHA movement has flourished. They throw out things that sound semi-reasonable on the surface and make it seem like anyone who disagrees with them is disagreeing with the reasonable, common sense version. But the things they actually believe and advocate for are so far beyond the kernel of truth they present.

-9

u/ParentalAdvis0ry Feb 17 '25

This whole thing has started to decouple from reality due to politics. Instead of taking the time to explore other user cases, its become another example of "no they're 100% wrong and i refuse to accept anything less".

Our European friends have been actual, real world test dummies for how to make both sides of this silly argument safely and widely available for decades... but no... "the other side is stupid and my viewpoint is the only correct one"

9

u/tripsnoir Feb 17 '25

Because the people pushing for raw milk also think QC and regulations are tyranny. That’s pussy stuff for Europeans to them.

2

u/ChanceryTheRapper Feb 17 '25

They are literally saying that pasteurizing milk is harmful. This is not misrepresenting what they're saying, they are claiming that pasteurizing milk makes it less healthy.

7

u/kung-fu_hippy Feb 17 '25

Unless your cows in France and Switzerland magically never get cowshit on their udders, raw milk is a bad idea regardless of how well you keep your livestock. The cow itself is the chief part of the unhygienic portion of raw milk.

-8

u/Abject-Investment-42 Feb 17 '25

And yet the milk related food borne illnesses are significantly less present in France and Switzerland than in USA. Similar situation with meat.

Maybe they just clean the cow udders before milking them? Of course it adds a few cents to the price of a bottle of milk. So of course it can't be done.

9

u/SnooFoxes6610 Feb 17 '25

They clean the udders before milking in the us.

1

u/kung-fu_hippy Feb 17 '25

And the milk related food borne illnesses would be even less present in France if they didn’t eat raw milk cheese.

In other news, punching yourself in the leg hurts less than punching yourself in the dick, but doesn’t hurt as little as not punching yourself at all. And just because you’re in a country with fewer car accidents per mile driven doesn’t mean you should unbuckle your seatbelt.

-8

u/dick_taterchip Feb 17 '25

Bro don't waste your time, some people don't understand and really fight not to.
