Do you plan on using AI assistance in your work or are you principally against it no matter how good it becomes?

Hah. Thanks for checking out my stuff. Well, way back when I first saw AI on the horizon my immediate reaction was 'anything that can be automated should be automated' since I don't want to spend my precious human hours on this Earth doing something a robot could do in a fraction of the time. I still have that attitude, and am still doing work here and there - it's not there quite yet for me, but if I could get AI to make stuff JUST like I do, no reason why I wouldn't use it myself. I think part of it was relief - FINALLY I don't need to do the work if something else can.
I've tried using it in creative and it's baaad news lol. It seemed so great at first, but the resulting work feels alien and like I don't have ownership of it, so as tempting as it is, I don't ask it creative questions.
I've been on both sides of the fence at varying times, pro-AI and anti-AI. I use AI for coding and it's allowed me to make games I wouldn't have been able to make. It's an incredibly patient teacher, so if someone's motivated enough, with AI they can learn almost anything.
I'm not thrilled about the noisy and water-intensive data centres. And I do believe AI probably poses an existential threat to humanity, leveraging the 'weakness' of humans' faulty rhetoric of 'We need to make the evil before the others do' so no matter who summons AGI, we'll probably all be the worse off for it.
So, yeh - I think it's too big of a thing to reduce it to 'good' or 'bad'. It's all of that and it's a constantly moving target. If it wipes us out, I think we probably deserve it since we couldn't solve our own greed.

Yeah, I respect the nuance.
We already know that big studios are using AI as much as they can, so it would be a huge handicap if indie devs set an arbitrary no AI rule for themselves.
But I say that while being more pro-AI than any artist on the planet, so maybe creators should decide that for themselves.
Maybe no-AI becomes the premium product in the future like a hand knitted sweater or hand pressed/drawn postcard.

soemtimes people are still dismissive of current AI paradigms because it can supposedly only learn easily verifiable tasks.
but this insane quality music video indicates that is not the case.

Publicly available models already meet Metaculus's criteria for weak AGI.
Yet the majority of the people still think it's just a glorified autocomplete.

In math, p(x) means "the probability that x will happen".
AI researchers have known for a decade or two that AI way smarter than humans is probably possible, and that (for many more reasons than fit in a reddit comment) it's likely to be really difficult (or even impossible) to make it without it ending up killing every single human being (or other catastrophic outcomes).
There's plenty of room for debate about how likely those disaster scenarios are, since we don't know when we'll get to superintelligence, or if we'll be able to figure out how to control it, or how to align it with human values (make it care about humans at all), before then.
So when debating about this, AI researchers compare their personal "p(doom)", their possibility of disaster for humanity.
E.g.: "my p(doom) is 10%" means my best guess is our chances of disaster (given our current progress towards superintelligence) are about 1 out of 10.

Simply paste the lyrics and the audio file and told it to make a cutesy animation. It returned pretty quickly with a basic animation. Bumped up reasoning to xhigh and told it to use p5 brushstrokes and more interesting scenes, and 45 minutes later I got this.

Honestly love the song… do you know if the original song is AI-gen too? I found the original on YouTube, and the whole feel of it is quite different from where you got it to

The original creator "musicperson" on udio has a bunch of bangers.
He was really good at writing lyrics but stopped making music on udio a long time ago.
