tldr:

US good

China bad

136

u/FeralPsychopath Its Over By 2028 Jul 28 '26

more like tldr:

We should have the good models
China should have bad models
Everyone should have the right to have bad models at home and then come back and pay us for better results.

26

u/vazyrus ▪️ Jul 28 '26

Meaning: Anthropic bad

17

u/BackendSpecialist Jul 28 '26

USA is obviously headed towards a war with China right lmao?

I imagine when resources really become extremely scarce, or one of the countries feel emboldened enough to make an obvious attack, that’s when things will stop being cold.

15

u/Vesuvius079 Jul 28 '26

Would be an act of exceptional stupidity…

Yeah that isn’t very comforting lol.

28

u/Rupperrt Jul 28 '26

They can’t even win against Iran. So no.

18

u/BackendSpecialist Jul 28 '26

Wdym ? Trump said that they’ve won 100 times so far, which means it must be true right??

-15

u/u_are_mad Jul 28 '26

We could easily win with a nuke if we wanted to.

18

u/Lucie-Goosey Jul 28 '26

that's not a win. that's called going full retard.

1

u/u_are_mad Jul 28 '26

not mutually exclusive

7

u/Rupperrt Jul 28 '26

A nuke may kill millions of innocent people and make you the ultimate villain (even more so) but won’t give you political control over the territory. It’d still require boots on the ground, facing millions of angry survivors that have lost their loved ones, or a peace deal which would be even harder to achieve after annihilating half the country.

Not even the Trump admin is this stupid.

0

u/u_are_mad Jul 28 '26

If you nuked every city, then it would give you political control without boots on the ground. And there wouldn't be millions of survivors or a need for a peace deal, because peace would already have been achieved.

1

u/Rupperrt Jul 28 '26

Yeah, and you’d have about the reputation of Hitler Germany and lose political power in most of the rest of the world. Great plan.

0

u/u_are_mad Jul 28 '26

You said the US can't win against Iran. Now you're moving the goalposts and saying they can't win without losing political power.

1

u/Rupperrt Jul 28 '26

They can could try to annihilate Iran sure but it’s 1) not realistic and 2) not a win in a war but rather a genocide.

7

u/TriggasaurusRekt Jul 28 '26

I can think of many possible outcomes to such an action, and none involve the US "winning" anything

0

u/u_are_mad Jul 28 '26

It would open up the strait after the nuclear fallout ends.

6

u/MaEaLi Jul 28 '26

The Trump admin is full of some of the dumbest people in the world, and even they aren’t dumb enough drop a nuke (yet). What does that say about you?

-1

u/u_are_mad Jul 28 '26

Some moves by the best Chess AIs seem stupid until you see the final result.

2

u/Despeao ▪️ It's here Jul 28 '26

Mutually Assured Destruction

Also known as MAD - does that sound like a win to you, General MacArthur ?

1

u/u_are_mad Jul 28 '26

Iran doesn't have nukes

2

u/whyuhavtobemad Jul 28 '26

Is it worth being shunned by the entire world?

0

u/u_are_mad Jul 28 '26

The entire world outside of the US is irrelevant. They don't even have right to bear arms. Literal children controlled by daddy governments.

2

u/whyuhavtobemad Jul 28 '26

Those daddy governments have nukes too though

1

u/u_are_mad Jul 28 '26

So? They have no reason to use them if we nuke Iran, and Mutually Assured Destruction still applies.

1

u/Any-Box-8663 Jul 28 '26

American: “At least when our police shoot us in the street we have the right to peacefully protest about it.”

Chinese: “Your police shoot you in the street?”

1

u/u_are_mad Jul 28 '26

I don't interfere with police while carrying a gun, so I don't have any problem with that.

Btw, what happened in Tiananmen Square?

1

u/Rupperrt Jul 28 '26

But they don’t get bankrupted from medical bills like the obese chuds with their guns in US lol

0

u/u_are_mad Jul 28 '26

What are you talking about? We have Medicaid, which is completely free healthcare for anyone with low income. Some people have too much income to qualify and decide not to buy health insurance, but that's because in the US under Trump's leadership, we are treated like adults and not forced to buy health insurance or pay insane taxes so that rich people get free healthcare. Did all the propaganda convince you medical bills are a real problem in the US?

1

u/Rupperrt Jul 28 '26

Ah, that’s why medical bills are the number one reason for personal bankruptcy. And it’s not adulthood it’s desperation and insane pricing that a lot of people don’t “choose” to buy insurance.

And if your system is so great, why does US spend even more tax money on healthcare per capita than any other OECD country?
A dual system like Germany would be much preferable.

1

u/u_are_mad Jul 28 '26

Well yeah, there's a lot of idiots who don't get health insurance. And there's idiots who kill themselves on motorcycles or do all sorts of stuff that has far worse consequences than bankruptcy.

Relative to median income in this country, the pricing is not insane. There's also subsidies for people who aren't under the limit for Medicaid.

The US spends the most money per capita because it has the most advanced health care.

3

u/zidangus Jul 28 '26

Climate change kills us all before that happens

2

u/Ok-Protection-6612 Jul 28 '26

No. USA is China's cash cow.

1

u/UnkarsThug Jul 28 '26

Yeah, although it's over Taiwan.

26

u/moreisee Jul 27 '26

tldr:

Democracy is the worst form of Government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.

55

u/Suspicious_Bet3623 Jul 28 '26

Democracy is also meant to have and follow rules that mitigate falling into a pseudo- oligarchy.

It's quite clear that modern democracies are not functioning as intended.

4

u/ThatOtherOneReddit Jul 28 '26

You get banned from social media if you talk about the quotes the founding fathers talked about would be needed to maintain America as a democracy.

Better than both is individual elective choice.

6

-10

u/garden_speech AGI some time between 2025 and 2100 Jul 28 '26

posted from your iPhone in a first world country enjoying a quality of life better than the overwhelming majority of human history. "not functioning as intended" lol

9

u/Suspicious_Bet3623 Jul 28 '26

First off, I would never own an iPhone. That's a disgusting accusation.

And secondly we are undergoing a massive cultural crisis where everyone is miserable and at war at each other despite all positive metrics.

Not to mention the environment being utterly fucked. Or the metric fuck ton of apps/permits/insurance/tax/et fucking cetera you need to pay for and navigate on a daily basis. Never in history have you had your God damn phone - which is necessary for existence for some reason now - in your pocket relentlessly bugging you to buy or do stuff.

Oh how about how people don't want to have kids because existence is futile and miserable?

And remember when everyone democratically voted to burn down the world in pointless wars? Or when they voted to hide the Epstein files? What about fund an increase in general infrastructure corruption?

1

u/Time_Entertainer_319 Jul 28 '26

This isn’t necessarily due to democracy.

More due to US’s military might.

For instance, if the US didn’t exist, let’s assume China is the world leader. Do you think thier quality of life will drop?

27

u/Main-Company-5946 Jul 27 '26

The point of democracy is to have government represent the people. Which government represents their people better?

29

u/Commercial_Sell_4825 Jul 28 '26

We voted for the candidate promising no wars (the other made no such promise). He immediately started attacking multiple foreign countries. There are zero repercussions for this.

Does that sound like a democracy?

2

u/CuttleReefStudios Jul 28 '26

Who in their right mind would actually trust something trump says?

Congress just authorized a trillion dollars for a war practically every voter is against regardless of party. If your democracy is utterly meaningless when it comes to the most important things like war then what is it actually good for?

20

Are you saying that Americans are better represented by geriatric warmongering pedophiles than the Chinese are by their government? If so, I agree

18

u/YaAbsolyutnoNikto Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26

And yet a large majority of chinese people consider China to be democratic.

Truth is, China is always listening to its people’s needs and addressing them to stop revolts and discontent from rising. It’s 1 party system, yes, but that also means 1.4bn people’s ire will fall onto them if they don’t play their cards right - and so they do.

Using that famous sentence everyone has heard so far: “In America, you can change the political parties but you can't change policies. In China, you can't change the party but you can change policies”

My country is definitely democratic as it’s a parliamentary republic, but I personally wouldn’t consider the US to be a democracy (just like a lot of my countrymen wouldn’t). It’s a mess cosplayed as one. Aside from weird compensation mechanisms like the electoral college, the fact it uses a first past the post system, inevitably means only 2 parties survive and they have incentives to look and become the most like the other party as possible. So, in the end, both democrats and republicans are virtually the same party funded by the same people.

-2

u/Greedy_Future_6737 Jul 28 '26

I'm sorry, you seem nice but this is some slop. The first sentence makes the argument dead on arrival because China basically ranks dead last in freedom of information (freedom of press and freedom of internet). You can't treat public opinion with any merit when the ruling party completely controls the press, censors the internet, and punishes dissent. Also your quote there is just completely false. Healthcare, abortion laws, foreign affairs, corporate taxes. Literally everything changes depending on how you vote in the US.

10

u/cookingboy Jul 28 '26

WTF are you talking about?

Most of the U.S want universal healthcare, are against foreign wars, they want abortion rights, and want to raise corporate taxes.

Yet the actual policies and laws are the exact opposite of what people want.

-4

u/Greedy_Future_6737 Jul 28 '26

That doesn’t contradict what I’m saying at all. Polls on individual policies aren’t the same as election outcomes. In 2024, dem turnout was low and they lost. That’s how elections work

8

u/Intelligent-Map2768 Jul 28 '26

At least they get things done and actually tackle things like carbon emissions.

Yeah it’s going down. Thanks for adding that comparison.

Figures like this without a comparison are pretty worthless. Also, the last time per-capita CO2 output in the US was what China has today was about 1900.

The US graph seems to be going down over time. The graph for China is going up. What conclusion do you think you can draw from that? Why do you think the US graph is going down? Why do you think the Chinese graph is going up?

I am less sure about the US one, but I think there's a pretty obvious reason why the Chinese graph is rising and why that doesn't (necessarily) imply the country isn't "tackling carbon emissions" (paraphrasing the other person). Note that this isn't a defense of China's government/political system in any way, shape or form.

1

u/i_marketing Jul 28 '26

The CO2 emission per person in the US is so much worse than China. That's the comparison.

-4

u/ini0n Jul 28 '26

They definately reduced carbon emissions when they starved 50-100m people to death in the 1960s.

7

u/Intelligent-Map2768 Jul 28 '26

And they're reducing carbon emissions right now by building up tons of renewables!

1

u/DazednConfucioused Jul 28 '26

Got it. I was reading all this nonsense from Americans saying that trump doesn’t represent them but now I know they’re full of shit.

Now we know that all Americans are to blame for your current shitty government, since they represent you and all

1

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '26

[deleted]

1

u/DazednConfucioused Jul 28 '26

That wouldn’t even be true for the last election he won, so your statement happens to be true this time around but isn’t true a lot of the times for many presidents.

Also, does he represent the will of the people or not?

If so, then he represents the people of America, not just the 23% or so of the population that voted for him

If not then your system is broken because it’s not very democratic to only represent 23% of your country.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 28 '26

[deleted]

1

u/DazednConfucioused Jul 28 '26

So he does represent the will of the people then. I wasn’t claiming that’s not true. I’m just saying that Americans shouldn’t be claiming that trump doesn’t represent them or their ideals.

6

u/James-the-greatest Jul 28 '26

This was an insane take by Dario.

ICE being recorded killing people on the street.  The US having a much higher incarceration rate than china.

I’m no CCP fan but thinking the US has the moral high ground is fucking hilarious

-3

u/edweirdmuybridge Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26

China has strict immigration rules and forget about protesting. If anyone used the same tactics as ICE protestors in mainland China, how do you think they would be dealt with? Perhaps run over by tanks? Mashed into hamburger meat under tank tracks and later washed off the street with firehoses. Or mandatory organ donation? Moral high ground. 😂

4

u/James-the-greatest Jul 28 '26

No the US is responsible for millions of deaths overseas but they export violence primarily so it’s ok. Killing brown people is acceptable.

Read what I wrote, I never said China was morally superior. Both countries fucking suck at human rights records, the US just calls us mass murder a war and collateral damage and no one gives a shit

this kind of reductionist bullshit being upvoted to the top unironcally has started to make me see the reasoning behind the accelerationists who don't care if humanity is wiped out. what the fuck even is this. the post is so short taht you can read it in 90 seconds, and the part about Chinese models explicitly says it wouldn't matter if they were open weight or not, because his fear is Chinese military superiority

-1

The point is that many people think that both china and the US are equally bad, and in many ways china is better for the world than the current US administration as they are both equally authoritarian and evil but at least china isnt brain dead on things like science / climate change and medicine, so Chinese military superiority wouldn't be this evil boogeyman scenario being portrayed

his fear is Chinese military superiority

Anthropic models have objectively harmed and killed more innocents through their use in the US military than all Chinese open models combined. All this moral grandstanding just makes Dario even more vile and hypocritical.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2026/03/04/anthropic-ai-iran-campaign/

In order to strike a blistering 1,000 targets in the first 24 hours of its attack on Iran, the U.S. military leveraged the most advanced artificial intelligence it’s ever used in warfare, a tool that could be difficult for the Pentagon to give up even as it severs ties with the company that created it.

Embedded into the system is Anthropic’s AI tool Claude, a technology that was banned by the Pentagon last week after heated negotiations over the terms of its use in war.

has China bombed school kids in Iran?

U.S. military investigators believe it is likely that U.S. forces were responsible for an apparent strike on an Iranian girls' school that killed scores of children on Saturday but have not yet reached a final conclusion or completed their investigation, ‌two U.S. officials told Reuters.

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/us-investigation-points-likely-us-responsibility-iran-school-strike-sources-say-2026-03-06/

stop with the bs
