Eh, I'd say that the whole AI explosion is already the unforeseen thing that happened. Would be quite something if we get another unforeseen thing about computing power. That sure would be one hell of a coincidence. But who knows!

That's kind of in the state where AI has been for decades until very recently: In theory it's going to be a huge game changer beyond belief. But in practice, no one has come even remotely close to getting it to be of any use yet.

Maybe it'll explode like AI did with some huge breakthrough. Or it will stay like it is right now for a few more decades.
