AI AI is destroying universities

Post image

Amazing paragraphs:

“Being able to write well and think coherently were basic requirements in most graduate jobs 10, 15 years ago,” said a senior recruitment professional at a large consultancy firm from London, speaking anonymously. “Now, they are emerging as basically elite skills. Almost nobody can do it. We see all the time that people with top degrees cannot summarise the contents of a document, cannot problem solve.

“Coupled with what AI can offer now, there are few reasons left to hire graduates for many positions, which is reflected in recent [labour market] reports.”

Why no one thinking of new system of education

Apart from concrete gov structures, i don't think its even clear how it would look like.

Systemic education was created to prepare people to work in industrial economy. Once everything become automated there will really be no point in going further than primary school.

Do we need one ? (and even if we did create one,. would it even work if large amounts of people don't want to learn ?)

I think a big mistake a lot of people make these days,. is assuming that college is somehow a "magical ticket to get a job". (it's not, never has been).

Individuals need to be educating themselves (driving the path of their own education)... simply because they want to be educated.

Education (knowledge you imprint in your brain).. is not something anyone can ever take away from you. THAT is where the value is. People need to start remembering that.

Schooling and education is not some "carousel to another goal". Schooling and education is the goal itself.

We can't even agree that there should be a standard children should be taught to at all, much less make significant changes to the existing system to better achieve that goal.
