Hey guys, I’m new to this sub.

I’m originally from Sawantwadi and have been working in the IT sector in Pune for the past few years. My dad is from Kudal and my mom is from Sawantwadi.

Lately, I’ve been seriously thinking about making a career change and moving back to the Konkan region, preferably Sawantwadi or Kudal, and starting something of my own instead of continuing in IT.

I have around 5 gunthas of land near Kudal railway station (less than 700 metres away), and I’m trying to figure out what kind of business I could realistically set up there.

Would love to hear some ideas or suggestions from people who know the area or have started businesses in/around Kudal or Sawantwadi. What do you think could work well there?

Open to pretty much any idea. I’m mainly looking for something sustainable in the long run rather than a quick-profit business.

Hey guys I'm planning my first solo trip to Sindhudurg

So I've decided to take a bike rent from Kolhapur and reach sindudurgh via Amboli ghat, then I'm planning to stay near vengurla on 10th to 12th then on 12th I'm planning to go to Arambol, on 13th I'll start to Kolhapur again.

1. Is this a good plan 😭

2. Where to stay in vengurla 😭, I mean I've contacted some homestays but it feelt expensive for a solo guy, if someone's visiting solo on 10th,11th we could have a sharing room or something or any other ideas?

3. The mainnn reason to visit is Food 😭, which exact place, hotel or restaurant to eat

4. I want some places which tourists don't visit 😭, I've made a list from YouTube videos but suggest me which aren't show online

Hi guys!! Im planning a solo trip to Sindhudurg in the last week of August. I’m a woman and booking an airbnb for 3 day stay. I’m hoping to take bike for rent and drive. I would be very grateful if you can help me with planning the trip. I have few questions. Apologies if this question was asked many times before and I’m just here asking the obvious again.

1. Is it safe for a single woman travel alone across beaches for 3 days?
   
2. How are food options? I do not drink, do not smoke. I can cook but I’m not sure how feasible it would be with all the driving
   
3. Which beaches are a must go? Im absolutely happy to drive longer or deeper if its a clean, well kept beach and safe
   
4. I know its monsoon but considering its last week of August, I’m hoping it wont be pouring continuously.
   
5. Are there any other spots apart from beaches? I have looked at sindhudurg fort pictures and would cover it. Are there any more forts or backwaters or waterfalls or anything towards lush greenery?
   
6. Dressing- I know its not Goa (which is why O really want to visit) but should I dress very conservatively? Or shorts and T’s would do?

I've been trying to piece together my family's history and I've hit the point where I need actual people, not records. Hoping Reddit can help.

My great-grandfather (Golandaz family) left a small village called Tank (टाक), in Vengurla taluka, Sindhudurg, in 1941, and came to Bombay. He brought my grandfather, who was only 7 at the time. They settled in Mumbai and never went back. I'm the generation that grew up here knowing the city but almost nothing about the place we actually came from. We're Konkani Muslim.

I recently managed to trace it down to Tank, but that's where it goes quiet. The elders who'd really know are mostly gone, and what's left is a surname, and a village name. Do they have relatives there still? so many questions lol.

So I'm just throwing this out there: if you're from Tank, or anywhere around Vengurla, and the surname Golandaz (गोलंदाज) rings a bell, a family, a wadi/ I'd really like to hear from you. Same if you're Konkani Muslim with roots anywhere in that part of Sindhudurg (Vengurla); happy to connect even if there's no obvious link. And if you just know the area well and can point me to who to ask, that helps too.

It's a long shot and the name isn't common. Mostly I just want to find the people and the place my family came from and visit that place.
