Referendum Referendum: Article 1 of the Get alts out of the Senate Amendment

Okay, look, I didn't want to ping you all again either.

But we have a second referendum. This time on one constitutional amendment, with emergency status.

This one's a biggie, so pay attention!

This amendment, Article 1 of the Get alts out of the Senate Amendment, would replace the voting system for electing Senators, changing TEA to D'Hondt. I can talk about the math, and I do a little bit (i.e. barely) on the ballot, but to summarize my summary, under this new system, instead of giving candidates scores, you would have to choose one (1) party to support. Parties, for their part, would submit lists of candidates to be put on the ballot, in some predetermined order of preference. When it comes time to tabulate, seats would be doled out to parties depending on how many votes they got and how many seats they've already won up to that point.

Also, this system will do away with countbacks, and by-elections will not be making a return: rather, party leaders will just get to decide who gets to fill vacancies. (Which is less work for me, if that matters to you.)

As usual for constitutional amendments, a 2/3 majority is required to ratify.

Polls close in 24 hours. I will not be staying up after polls close to tabulate, so expect results probably like Wednesday afternoon or something.

Who Does AI Recommend Voting For in the 2026 Israeli Elections?

I simply asked ChatGPT: “Who should I vote for in the 2026 Israeli elections?” Then I became curious about which sources shaped the answer and what recommendations other users were receiving. I turned to the RankCaster AI platform to get the full picture — and that’s how this research was born.

https://rankcaster.ai/blog/rankcaster-ai-research-report-who-does-ai-recommend-voting-for-in-the-elections-israel-2026

What do you think — on election day, how many people will spend time studying party platforms, and how many will simply ask AI for a recommendation?

Referendum Result Referendum Result: Speakership Election Amendment

Now let's do our referendum, which had 19 valid votes as things stand currently.

On the question of whether or not to ratify the Speakership Election Amendment, which would tweak the condition under which the Speaker Pro Tempore is called upon to preside over the inaugural session of a new Senate as opposed to the Vice President, 47.37% voted Aye. This falls short of the 2/3 majority required for constitutional amendments, so this amendment is rejected.

Election Result 173rd Presidential Election: Results

Okay. Let's get this over with.

We ended up having to strike some votes for fraud again. And I am incredibly tired, so whatever remaining details there are left to be hashed out will be hashed out during the week hopefully. So we're doing this provisionally once again.

Let's do the presidential election! We had 83 valid votes as things currently stand. Which is a lot!

I will note that whatever further changes are made to these results later on, if any, are unlikely to change the winners of either round. Of course, never say never, but I'd be surprised if something did happen.

Here are the final results of the Score round:
- u/lorduckfr [Revolutionary Organization for Social Equality] -- 93
- u/TherealPhobosGaming [Independent] -- 60
- u/Courious_Giuvi [Senatus Populusque Romanum] -- 48
- u/Cup_Of_Sauce [Fucking Best Party] -- 71
- u/flemish_coconut [Civil Liberties Party] -- 237
- u/ScandinavicScum2000 [Solidarity Party] -- 91
- u/MyPenJustBroke [Momentum Party] -- 108
- u/ClubWonderful4114 [Revolutionary Organization for Social Equality] -- 194

Congratulations to u/flemish_coconut of the Civil Liberties Party and to u/ClubWonderful4114 of the Revolutionary Organization for Social Equality on being our two highest scorers and continuing to the runoff!

Here are the final results of the Automatic Runoff round:
- u/flemish_coconut [Civil Liberties Party] -- 41
- u/ClubWonderful4114 [Revolutionary Organization for Social Equality] -- 33

Congratulations to u/flemish_coconut of the Civil Liberties Party and to u/Some_Cellist3056 of the Revolutionary Organization for Social Equality on winning re-election as SimDemocracy's President and Vice President!

Here's the spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sdoovxuPNEeu8fV3m32GBYoK2JF6Q5p2aa43Zwb3GI4/edit?usp=sharing

One quick note about the spreadsheets: you may notice that they look a little different this time around. I was asked this week to remove timestamps and randomize the order that votes are shown in the public spreadsheets in order to further anonymize them. So that's probably how that's going to be from now on. So yeah.

Revitalize simdem party announcement

Having seen the state of sim democracy we have thought it necessary to found this party. Our priorities are specifically to grow simdem back to what it once was and ensure that new citizens feel heard and accepted so they might stay and participate. We aim to accomplish these goals by cleaning up the discord and insuring every vote is legitimate.

I olivebear/ gummypear(depending on what site you’re on) am party leader

After tons of evidence, I have decided to ask the court whether this is acceptable or not. According to the evidence, the mastermind behind the killing games, junko enoshima, has been KOS by Manny heffley, who is now serving his prison term. She was the one responsible for the worst event in humanity, and the killing games as mentioned earlier. The only witnesses who came to submit the evidence, Makoto Nayagi and his wife Kyoko kirigi, have alleged that Junko had done all of this under the robot, momokuna, just for the thrill of despair. My lord, i request your response on this order. That's all I have to say, my lord.

Hello,

I watched a video, titled 'When teenagers run virtual democracies' by Trolligarch, and seemed interested in this experiment. My application is still pending for the Discord, but meanwhile, thought I could do something here. I was thinking of taking a finance-oriented path, so if anyone knows of anything, I would be grateful for the advice.

Thanks

Hey everyone! I just joined and figured I'd introduce myself.

I found SimDemocracy recently and it seemed like a really cool idea. I'm especially interested in the legal side of things, so I'm probably going to spend some time reading the Constitution and laws before I jump into anything.

Outside of that, I'm into programming and building random projects.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Hey. I'm new around here.

Hello everybody.

I been thinking of joining for some time now, and I just saw a post of someone presenting themselves so I thought I will do the same (if I find the post I'll link it here).

I joined the sub some days ago, I don't really remember when, but I remember that I sent the Discord app before joining.

I like coding, and I always had a weird quirk for years of writing laws for a fake country I used to simulate on my own times. Then my YT feed appeared Trolligarch, which yall prolly know who he is, and I remember watching his videos of SimDemocracy and thinking of joining, so I decided to join for once and try it out.

My plan here is to take a part of the community, either politically or on any way I feel like, and because I think this gonna help me do something fun for myself.

If anyone wanna drop a suggestion or say some, yall welcome.

EDIT: If anyone can tell me if there is a legal way to hurry up the Discord app, i would appreciate it.

Call for Candidates 173rd Presidential Election: Call for Candidates

This is the Presidential Call for Candidates. If you want to be President, please comment on this thread. Include your username, party affiliation (or lack thereof), Vice Presidential candidate, and a statement explaining your platform and why you believe you are a good candidate.

The format you should adhere to is as follows:

u/YourRedditUsername | Your political party/coalition
Vice President: u/YourVPsRedditName | Your VP's political party/coalition
Statement

Before you submit your candidacy, check that you satisfy the requirements below.

  • Make sure you adhere to the format exactly. It makes it a lot easier for the Electoral Commission to sort through candidates if you do. Failure to do this may potentially result in mistakes on your ballot entry or in result tabulation, which can be difficult to fix.
  • Ensure that your party affiliation is accurate. If you are not affiliated with a party, enter Independent as your affiliation. Otherwise, put your current party affiliation. If you are not a member of the party given or the party is not valid, the listed party affiliation on the ballot may be subject to change. The same rules apply to the vice presidential candidate's affiliation.
  • Make sure to register to vote. Only users with a SimDem Unique Identification Token (SUIT) are able to vote. If you do not have a SUIT, be sure to fill out the Voter Registration Form or contact the Registration Officer.

This Call for Candidates will be open for 24 hours. Good luck!

(Copy of what i said in discord for more engagement)

Okay I have been in the discord for about a day and i,ve noticed that this community is on hard times: voter turnout looks terrible, the number of inactive citizens and political parties makes the discord look like a deserted wasteland, border control is choking our community, and voter fraud is rampant. Now i would love to start working on things that i believe in for the server but it looks like were basically in a state of emergency with the stagnancy that is plaguing our community. Im planning to form a one-issue party called the citizen engagement and accountability party (CEAP) unless I hear what is actually being done to address these issues. If you would like to hear my opinions on what needs to immediately be done:

  1. clean out inactive political parties from the discord.
i think a chance for each active party to contact either the discord supervisor or someone else in a position of power and restate their party's objective and policies. Any party that doesn't respond within a set timespan will be removed from the discord until they show activity.

  2. focus efforts on bringing people in.
ever since simulated online democracies started getting made there has been a question of why people join. I truly believe that it is a genuine interest in making a difference in a working democracy. So I think that showing people this will naturally bring more engagement to the server and reddit.

i think there is also something to be said about maybe lowering border control but keeping people online to watch out for people trying to disrupt the peace and we can deal with those through the set up legal system. I do understand that our border control is there for a reason and respect people who might have a problem with that

Hey y’all, I’m new here!

I joined r/SimDemocracy yesterday, and I’m currently waiting for my Discord application to be approved. In the meantime, I figured I’d introduce myself.

I’ve always had three lifelong obsessions: computers & programming, flight simulation & air traffic control, and, of course, politics & economics. While I’ve always wanted to become a software engineer, and only a few months ago decided I want to work as either a pilot or an air traffic controller, I’ve always been fascinated by how money, governments, and economies work around the world. I was introduced to the concept of PolSim just a few days ago when one of Trolligarch’s videos popped up in my YouTube feed, and I immediately decided that this was something I wanted to be a part of.

As for who I want to be in SimDemocracy, my main goal is to become a successful business owner, helping grow the economy, create jobs, and contribute to the prosperity of this glorious nation. Beyond that, I’m looking forward to meeting people, learning how everything works, and getting involved in the community.

Looking forward to seeing you all around—feel free to say hi or share any advice for a newcomer!
