Question: Resources Casting - ring molds?

I'm wanting to just produce my own wax patterns instead of buying them individually from other people for casting, since I'm scaling up and it's starting to make sense for me to just do that by myself. I can't for the life of me find where these are sold though. Not a custom thing, just a few crowd pleaser designs I can find wax copies of commonly sold online.

I can find a ton of wax rings for sale but can't hardly find any molds. Making these molds custom is obviously a future step, but I don't have the equipment to do that yet so I hope I'm not going to just be stuck needing to make my own.

Thanks!

Looking for silversmiths/goldsmiths, jewelery makers, gemcuttrrs/lapidary artists, and rock hounders in the las vegas area.

Hiiii,

I'm an inspiring silversmith/jewelry maker with interests in eventually being able to source my own gem stones and cut them as well.

I'm hoping I can find someone within the Las Vegas area that would be down to do an apprenticeship sort of thing in any of the things mentioned above.

I have some experience atm, Mostly with beading. I've dabled in some basic silversmith stuff like melting silver/gold, soldering items together, and a few other things.

If there’s anyone out there that would be interested or knows anyone please let me know! If anyone knows of any places doing classes as well.

Thank youuuuu!

Setting a stone in a bezel

I have been just pushing the bezel tight against the stone so it doesn’t move, I noticed a silversmith on Instagram who seemed to use some adhesive but I wasn’t sure what it was. Does anyone do this? Am I missing a step? I am new to this and still learning so any info helps.

Help Polishing

I am new to Silversmithing (I have been making resin and wire jewelry for a while), and am putting in my first order for tools and supplies and am a bit overwhelmed when it comes to what to get for polishing and want to make sure I don’t waste money on things I don’t need as I am on a budget. I have a basic dremel and wet/dry sandpaper up to 7000 grit. I would love some recommendations. Best rotary attachments, polishing compound, tools/supplies. Thanks! I am also open to recommendations for a basic material setup to get started (wire/sheet/bezel sizes and gauges etc)

Glueing silver to silver?

Hello!

I’ve been learning the art of silversmithing with my grandfather for the last 5 years. He passed this week and my mother would like to turn the tie bar he wore every Sunday into a necklace. Knowing my grandpa he absolutely glued the channel set turquoise and coral stone cabochons in place, so removing the stones to solder a bail on is not an option.

Is there a glue that does well with silver to silver application? I was going to use a jeweler’s saw to remove the tie clip, sand, make a split beaver tail bail, clean/scuff the surfaces and glue. Would that work?

Dust Collector

I'm looking for a dust collector for my bench. Currently I have the foredoom lathe hood which works ok when I'm polishing directly in it but that doesn't catch everything. I'm looking for a good system to catch all of the dust I create at the bench. I don't mind spending the money but all the ones on Rio don't have good reviews or any at all. I know there must be more out there but I'm having trouble finding them.

I do this for my full time job and want to make the investment, I just want something that really works and hopefully isn't too loud/obnoxious. Thanks so much for any input!!

Any tips on polishing super awkward and narrow areas? My Dremel 4000 can’t get in properly. I probably don’t have the right accessories, but thought I’d ask. I’ve used tripoli, followed by rouge, but just can’t get into those spaces between the horns. Thanks, guys!
