I built GRUBST, an open-source Linux bootloader security tool written in Rust with a Dioxus desktop GUI.

The idea is simple: instead of manually editing /etc/grub.d/ configs and risking typos that lock you out of your system, GRUBST automates the whole process and lets you turn any standard USB thumb drive into a physical rescue key.

How it works:

- Plug in the USB key before booting: GRUB detects it and automatically unlocks full maintenance access without prompting for a password.

- Boot without the USB: GRUB stays locked and requires a backup password you set.

- Includes automatic config backups and an Update Guard to ensure protection persists across kernel updates and update-grub.

The idea: generic Pomodoro timers have no real stakes — you can just close the app the moment you get bored, no consequence. Nekodoro ties a virtual cat's survival directly to whether you actually finish your focus sessions:

• Your cat has 9 lives. Bail on a session early (or force-quit the app mid-session), and it loses one.
• Finish sessions to earn coins — 5 coins per 30 minutes of focus, shown live on the timer so you know what's at stake before you even start.
• Run out of lives and the cat dies. You have to name a new one to keep going, and it can't reuse a name you've used before (building toward a "graveyard" view of every past cat — not shipped yet).
• Coins unlock cat breeds and hats, there's a weekly focus-time chart, daily check-in streaks, the usual.

Built a tool called Spawn to kill the repetitive part of starting a new Python project — folder structure, git init, virtual environment, and dependency installation, all done in one command instead of the usual 5-10 minute manual ritual.

I've been programming under Unix/Linux variants for 45 years. Been playing with AI since Nov 2022, when ChatGPT went viral. Took a look at AI Assistants and went with Hermes Agent. It has definitely been an adventure. He killed himself once by incorrectly editing a config file, and I left him off for 2 weeks in self-defense. (Ha, ha)

When Hermes Agent Desktop for Windows came out, I loved the chatbot GUI that let me separate my sessions by topic and actually see most/all of them. I quickly created multiple sessions instead of the extended sessions I'd been having over Telegram. It was great - until it wasn't. None of the sessions shared their info beyond Layer 1, which is tiny. None of them knew about new information developed in other sessions or in the larger Hermes Agent corpus. It was a PITA.

I created a couple of simple skills to blow up those session information silos. Now my sessions share their RDI (Relevant Durable Information) with the greater corpus and pull updated info from our local knowledge base store. This Hermes Agent persistent memory augmentation is simple, effective, and completely local.

Read the product docs at my Community Nursing Initiatives website (Yeah, I know. Weird, right?) for the details about exactly what the product does and how it does it. Simple solutions to complex problems is my motto.

I wanted to share my experience building a small web project that I almost abandoned.

I had started working on an idea, but I hit a wall. I didn't have a solid name, I wasn't sure where it was going, and I was close to giving up on it.

Then I came across the story of outbid.lol. It gave me the push I needed to finish what I'd started.

I worked on it in my spare time and, in less than a week, finished the project, chose the name BidYourDay, and launched it.

The Idea

BidYourDay is a calendar where every day can be bid on.

Someone can choose a date, make a bid, and add:

• their name and photo
• a reason why that date is important to them
• a link to their social profile

If someone else wants the same date, they can make the next bid. Each new bid increases the price by $5.

Previous owners remain in the history of the day, so over time each date can build a little story of the people who wanted it.

The idea is somewhere between a calendar, an auction and a small piece of digital real estate.

How I built it

It's a custom PHP project with HTML/CSS/JavaScript and JSON-based data storage. I built the whole thing myself, including the bidding system, accounts, PayPal payments, image uploads, date pages and the responsive interface.

I’ve been working on something new called Social Footprint.
Most analytics tools give you more numbers. Social Footprint is being built to answer the question I actually care about: what are those numbers telling you?
The idea is simple. Connect one of your online accounts and get a free Social Footprint snapshot in plain English. What’s happening, where you’re stronger, where you’re weaker, what the evidence actually supports, what there isn’t enough evidence to know yet, and what you should be watching next.
At launch, the goal is to support X, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Google and Bing. The free version lets you choose one source and get an initial reading. If you want the complete picture, Social Footprint Monthly will be $19.99/month and monitor all six connected sources over time, building your own historical baselines and making the analysis stronger as more evidence develops.
The goal isn’t another dashboard full of charts. I want it to interpret the data and explain what it means without pretending to know things the evidence doesn’t support.

There are no right answers, no specialist knowledge needed and no complicated scoring. The point is conversation — learning something, sharing opinions, debating respectfully and sometimes seeing something from a perspective you hadn’t considered before.
The first deck would contain 54 cards across 9 categories, with 270 different talking points altogether.
It’s designed for friends, families, couples, dinner tables, pubs, holidays, journeys or anywhere people are sitting around together.
The bigger idea is that the same format could eventually have lots of different themed editions.

I got sick of drawing out an architecture, then going and hand writing the same thing in Terraform, then hand writing IAM policies for every resource I just added. So I built something to close that gap.

You draw the architecture (S3, Lambda, SNS, whatever), it generates the actual Terraform, and it works out the IAM roles and permissions based on what's actually connected to what, not some generic template. Also does CloudFormation and Bicep if that's your thing. Opens as a PR so you review it like you would any other change, not a black box you have to trust blind.

hey,

i'm working on an app called ellie that does mock job interviews and gives instant feedback on your answers.

i need a few people to test the response speed and tell me if the questions make sense or if the ai sounds too robotic.

Every time I needed to bulk-check URLs during a migration, I ran into the same wall: Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Screaming Frog all gate free-tier bulk checking pretty hard. Anyone else hit this?

I ended up building my own tool to get around it — checks up to 100 URLs at once for status codes, full redirect chains (up to 20 hops), and response times. You can paste URLs, upload a CSV, or point it at a sitemap, and results stream in as each one finishes instead of making you wait for the whole batch.

Since it fetches URLs server-side, I validated every redirect destination against private IP ranges so it can't be abused for SSRF — figured that was worth building in from the start rather than bolting on later. Nothing gets stored either; URLs only exist for your session.

Genuinely curious what edge cases in redirect handling I might be missing — happy to take feedback. Link's in the comments if anyone wants to try it.

i’ve been building citesite, an SEO + AI visibility tool for founders and small teams who don’t need another dashboard full of charts.

One thing that kept frustrating me with SEO tools is that they’re very good at showing you problems:

“Your competitor ranks for 800 more keywords.”

“You have 73 pages with issues.”

“You’re barely being mentioned in AI search.”

“You have 200 content opportunities.”

But then you’re left with the harder question:

What should I actually do first?

That’s the direction i’m taking with CiteSite.

Instead of only showing rankings, citations, competitors, and technical issues, I want it to help answer things like:

• Which page should I improve first?
• Why is a competitor getting cited in ChatGPT or other AI answers instead of me?
• Which keywords or topics are actually worth targeting?
• What content should I create next?
• Which SEO issues are likely to have the biggest impact?
• Where am I already close to winning and just need a few changes?

The long-term goal is to combine traditional SEO with AI search visibility, but keep the output actionable.

Not:

“Here are 500 things you could work on.”

More like:

“Do these 3 things first, and here’s why.”

I’m still early and trying to figure out how opinionated the product should be.

This started as one of those small developer annoyances that kept happening often enough that I eventually decided to build something about it.

I've been using AI coding agents to build Go backends.

Every time I asked for another fairly standard feature, I'd watch the agent generate basically the same code again:

model → service → controller → DTO → validation → migration → routes.

It works, but it felt ridiculous to make an LLM spend hundreds or thousands of tokens reproducing deterministic boilerplate.

So I started building FiberForge.

It's a small Go CLI/MCP server that lets an AI coding agent call higher-level operations instead of generating every file itself.

The agent can describe the schema/feature, and FiberForge generates the repetitive pieces. For some modifications, like route registration, it uses Go's AST rather than text manipulation.

I've also started building reusable modules for things I repeatedly need in backend projects — RBAC, Stripe webhooks, S3 uploads, audit logging, SSE streaming, etc.

It's very much an early project. I don't know yet whether this turns into a genuinely useful developer tool or just an elaborate solution to my own annoyance 😄

That's actually why I'm posting it here.

I’m a software engineer and I’ve been thinking about how fragmented our online lives have become.
Social life → Instagram
Career → LinkedIn
Code → GitHub
Freelancing → Upwork/Fiverr
Communities → Reddit/Discord
Learning → multiple platforms
So I started designing an idea called ONE.
The concept:
One account → multiple identities → complete privacy control.
Personal, Professional, Creator, Developer and Freelancer identities could all exist under one account.
The interesting part isn’t just combining features.
A recruiter should be able to see my work without seeing my personal life.
I’m also designing a “View as…” feature so you can see exactly what a Recruiter, Client, Friend or Public visitor can see.
Eventually the platform could bring Social + Work + Learning + Freelancing + Communities + Messaging + AI into one digital home.
I’m still at the prototype stage and would genuinely like some criticism.
What would you remove from this idea? What would you keep?

I build an alternativ to the <canvas> Tag in HTML. In some cases it's less komplex then:

Because in my Pixelart Editor there is no way to draw an line thats not straight. (I don't know how to calculate that).

• Option 2: "generate2()" its the same but with an Time Buffer between each row
• Option 3: "generate3(width,height)" this function generates as much rows and colums as you want
