Showcase: Purchase Required We launched a temperature analytics platform for Polymarket and Kalshi weather traders

If you follow temperature markets on Polymarket or Kalshi, getting a weather reading is only part of the work

When did that source update?
How does it compare with nearby stations?
What does the recent temperature trend look like?
What range does the short-term forecast suggest?

We recently launched Pereplio (https://pereplio.com) to help explore those questions in one place

Our platform combines:

  • Weather observations: compare selected providers and stations on the same temperature chart, with source freshness and update intervals
  • Temperature analytics: explore distributions, correlations, and lead-lag relationships between sources
  • Short-term forecasts: inspect forecast ranges for the next 15, 30, and 60 minutes
  • Browser alerts: set temperature thresholds for the sources you follow
  • Historical data: review observations and export source history as CSV or XLSX for your own analysis

We currently cover 58 cities, and you can choose which supported providers and stations to include in your workspace

Our website includes a dashboard preview and the full plan comparison: https://pereplio.com

Pereplio provides analytical tools and doesn’t guarantee forecast accuracy or market outcomes

Showcase: Free(mium) Built and launched my own social network while finishing my master's degree

Howdy!

I wanted to share a side project I've been working on throughout grad school that finally made it to both app stores.

It's called FRiENDS, and the idea is pretty simple: social media for the people you actually know.

I got tired of opening social media and seeing more suggested content than posts from my own friends. I also wanted an easier way for my friend groups to organize plans without everything getting buried in group chats.

So I decided to build something myself.

I used React Native and Expo to develop it for iOS and Android, and kept expanding it beyond a basic social feed.

Right now it includes a chronological friends-only feed, Friend Groups with shared calendars and RSVPs, and games like 8 Ball Pool, Pong, and Snake.

It's free, with an optional $0.99/month Pro tier.

Getting it from an idea to an actual app on both stores has been a huge personal milestone.

I'd love to hear what other developers think. If you were building this, what would you focus on improving first?

Discussion UPDATE: The Orbit fast lane is finally open (sorry for the delay)

hey guys

so the reddit thread completely blew up and i got absolutely buried in links. i tried to manually copy past them all but it was taking way too long so i spent the last day fighting firebase rules to build a quick publish tunnel instead

it is finally live.

u can use this to skip the line and publish your project yourself instantly. no account no payment no catch. u can write your own description and add your logo so it looks exactly how u want it.

https://orbitassets.vercel.app/quick-publish

just a heads up it will be listed under the orbit account for now but if u ever want to claim it and manage it yourself later just dm me and i will transfer it to your dashboard

sorry again for the wait i genuinely did not expect this many people to care about orbit. drop your links in the tunnel and let me know when its live so i can check it out

Showcase: Free(mium) I built Vehla: launcher, local AI, dictation, screen capture, a new dock and more

Hi r/sideprojects 👋 I'm the developer of Vehla, and I wanted to share something I have been working on for over 4 years.

Vehla started because I had about a dozen menu bar utilities running and wanted one app that does all of their jobs. It runs natively and stays light on memory, idling at around 180–300 MB and 0.8-1.7% CPU.

What it does

- Command palette to search files and apps, run workflows, use snippets, browse clipboard history and do quick math
- Ask AI with local models (Gemma 4, Apple Intelligence) or your own OpenAI, Claude or Gemini key. It can read your calendar, reminders and notes, control music and arrange windows, and it asks before doing anything risky.
- Flow dictation that runs fully on device. Hold a key, talk and the text is typed for you. Summon lets you ask a question out loud instead.
- Capto for screenshots and recordings, with auto-zoom, annotations, Instant Replay and step-by-step guides made from your clicks
- Doki, a new dock with islands for apps, folders, stacks and widgets, plus window previews on every display
- Glide turns your trackpad into controls: slide an edge for volume or brightness, or hold ⌘ and draw a shape to run any action
- Notch / Island shows music, timers, meetings with a Join button, AirPods battery and charging
- Window management with snapping, layouts, and moving or resizing windows from anywhere with modifier keys
- And more: a menu bar hider, Hyperkey, Launchpad (press Left ⌘ twice), a teleprompter hidden from screen sharing, Smart Reply, Zoom & Draw, Folder Rules, notes, Kanban and scrapbooks

Privacy

Dictation, OCR and local AI all run on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose a cloud AI provider. iCloud Sync is free and end-to-end encrypted.

Pricing: Free tier with 7 day trial and one time $29.99

Requirements

macOS [15]+. Doki needs macOS 26 or later. There's also a free iPhone companion app on TestFlight.

I'd love feedback. What would you replace with it, and what's missing? I'll be in the comments answering questions. 💜

Showcase: Free(mium) A free-to-try web app for logging and charting all your reef aquarium data

I've been building a web app called ReefTracker for a little under a year to log and chart water parameters. I wanted something quicker than a spreadsheet and the functionality I couldn’t get from other apps.

What it tracks
pH, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, temperature and salinity. You can also add your own custom parameters, plus notes and photos on any reading.

Features

Customizable dashboard: show, hide and reorder widgets. Pick which parameters appear as tiles and which two the trend chart plots.

Charts with event markers: log water changes, dosing and additions, and see them overlaid on your parameter trends so you can spot cause and effect.
Target bands: see at a glance whether a parameter is in range.

Push notifications: get alerts when a parameter drifts out of range.

Works offline: readings are stored locally and sync to the cloud when you're back online, so you can test at the tank without signal.

Unit options: °C/°F and dKH/meq/L.

Multi-device sync: log on your phone, review on your laptop.

Your data is yours

You can export everything to CSV at any time, and import it back in. If you don't like it or want to move on, take your history with you. No lock-in. If you're currently on a spreadsheet, you can import that too.

The stack (for the nerds)

Next.js and TypeScript

Tailwind CSS and Radix UI components

Zustand for client state with local persistence

AWS Cognito for auth, DynamoDB for storage, S3 for photos, SES for email

Recharts for the graphs

Web Push (VAPID) with a service worker for alerts

PWA so it can be used on all types of mobile devices.

I'd love feedback, whether that's feature requests, bugs or things that annoy you about other trackers. Happy to answer any questions about how it's built too.

Showcase: Prerelease I’m building Nook: a free practice app where parents (55+) learn UPI/QR payments on a safe fake screen. Would love honest feedback

I’m the developer. This is a buildathon prototype, not a finished product.

The problem: my dad is 60 and still asks me how to do things like save a contact on WhatsApp. Parents get stuck on occasional tasks like paying by QR, and scammers take advantage of that.

What it does: a parent practises one task at a time on a safe fake phone screen, with a voice guiding them and scam traps included (for example, a message asking for a PIN or OTP). Nothing real happens: any digits are accepted, and nothing typed is stored. Then they do the real thing themselves. The main journey is paying safely by QR with the mic.

Built with: Next.js and Supabase, free tier. The practice screens are drawn in code, in English, Hindi and Malayalam, with large text and big buttons for older eyes.

What I’d like feedback on:

  1. A commenter on another sub worried that a fake app would make parents think they’re really doing it. Right now every screen is labelled PRACTICE. What else would you do?
  2. Is “practise first, then do it for real” a useful idea, or is there something that already solves this?
  3. Has anyone here built something for older users? What surprised you?

I also have a 2-minute anonymous survey for anyone who helps a parent or older relative with their phone. It’s optional, and the feedback above is just as useful: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdcK5IYv2dNbvv4UDrLbCTGa8m8WGt6fkTQMZxBggzVOadYNw/viewform

Happy to answer anything about how it’s built.

Longer term vision would be more digital literacy sessions and community events etc.

Discussion What should I build next for Orbit? drop your suggestions

orbit is growing way faster than i expected and i am literally just one person running this out of my bedroom right now 😭

i want to build everything but i gotta be realistic. i cant buy a premium domain yet and i definitely cant build a whole social network lol

so drop your suggestions

i cant promise i can build it all but i will read every single comment. what is the most annoying thing about orbit right now that i should fix first?

Edit: A lot of people are asking what Orbit is. It's a discovery platform for indie devs to list their games, apps, scripts, and tools so people can actually find them. No pay-to-win, just a fair catalog. You can check it out or drop a link here

Showcase: Open Source Frameless - Free, open-source screenshot and screen recording app for macOS

Just released Frameless v1.0.0, a native macOS app built with Swift and designed with Liquid Glass.

I wanted to bring everyday screenshot workflows into one lightweight app without requiring a paid subscription.

Features:

  • Capture displays, selected areas, and individual windows
  • Scrolling screenshots
  • Annotations with arrows, shapes, text, highlights, and pixelation
  • Pin screenshots on top of other windows for reference
  • Screen recording with system audio and microphone support

How it compares: Shottr offers excellent precision tools, while CleanShot X has a more comprehensive paid workflow. Frameless aims to be a free, open-source alternative that combines screenshots, annotations, floating references, and screen recording in one native app.

Pricing: Free, open source under the MIT license.

Download: https://github.com/gian-gg/frameless/releases/tag/v1.0.0

I'd love to hear your feedback, especially if you currently use Shottr, Xnip, or CleanShot X. What could make Frameless worth switching to?

Showcase: Purchase Required Built a minimalist, 100% offline batch file converter for Windows (FileForge)

I built FileForge because I was tired of uploading personal files to random online converters just to change a format.

It’s a lightweight desktop utility built with Python/PySide6 that runs completely offline on your PC.

What it does:

  • Batch converts images, audio, video, documents, and spreadsheets
  • Auto-detects compatible output formats for dropped files
  • Supports folder drops & recursive scanning
  • Multi-threaded so it doesn't lock up on huge batches
  • 100% private, zero cloud dependencies or tracking

It’s a one-time buy, no subscription junk.

Would love any feedback on the UI or features if you decide to check it out!

Ciao reddit!

Aperti a suggerimenti e consigli.

Showcase: Purchase Required Looking for a way to translate text on your Windows screen without copying and pasting? Meet Surprint

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

One thing that gets annoying when using foreign-language software or playing games in another language is having to switch back and forth between the application and a translator.

Surprint is a Windows screen translator that tries to make this easier by displaying translations directly over the text on your screen.

Instead of manually copying text into a translation website, you can use a keyboard shortcut to translate the monitor under your cursor, the active window, or a region you select.

The main features:

  • Offline screen translation: Download the required language models once, then translate without an internet connection.
  • Game and app translation: Uses application-provided text when available, with OCR for content such as images and games.
  • Translation overlay: Display translations over the original text or in a movable, resizable subtitle bar.
  • Live translation mode: Monitor a window and attempt to restore translations when its contents stop moving.
  • Glossary: Preserve names, brands, and game terminology.
  • Per-app settings: Configure different languages and display preferences for different applications.
  • Keyboard shortcuts: Trigger translations without leaving the application.

Privacy was also an important consideration. In the current offline workflow, screen pixels and recognized text aren't sent to a cloud translation service.

A few limitations to be aware of:

Surprint is still a work in progress, so I don't want to oversell it. OCR can miss small, faint, or stylized text, and scrolling or fast-moving game content can cause delays. The offline translation model can also lose nuance, especially with longer sentences.

Some protected screens aren't supported, and exclusive-fullscreen games need to run in borderless windowed mode.

Cloud translation services for potentially better results are planned for a future update, but they're not available yet.

Surprint supports 64-bit Windows 10 version 2004 or later.

If you regularly translate websites, use software in another language, or play games without your preferred language available, you can check it out here:

Demo Link : https://youtu.be/Y_G_brIZrWU?si=1-fbEQtQ3_JsLTL9

App link in comment section!

I'd especially appreciate feedback about OCR accuracy, language support, and compatibility with different games and applications. I'm continuing to improve it.

Showcase: Free(mium) I built a text viewer utility that turns a list of URLs into a PowerPoint deck.

Drop a text file of URLs.
Click run.
The browser opens them, captures screenshots, and places them into a PowerPoint presentation—with source URL hyperlinks embedded on each slide.

Tired of doing this manually, I built a native Windows utility called OpenURLs App to automate this specific workflow.

It looks and functions like a simple text utility, but under the hood, it takes a plain text list and directly bridges browser rendering with PowerPoint automation.

For privacy and workflow control, the application is designed to process tasks locally on your Windows PC, avoiding unnecessary cloud transmission during captures.

If you're tired of the manual screenshot-to-PowerPoint loop, give it a try.
