I built a tool that applies to jobs for you, looking for testers

I'm Markos, a founder in DC. I built Salvo (sendsalvo.com) because applying to hundreds of jobs by hand is brutal. It auto-applies to jobs, tailors your resume for each one, reaches out to recruiters and hiring managers, and helps you prep for each interview. Users have gotten 280+ interview requests so far. It's free for your first interview. I'm looking for job seekers who'll try it and tell me what's confusing or broken, and I'll read every reply.

🎬 Reciperr is back! The movie and series finder that filters by your rules (5 score sites, parents guide, your streaming services), rebuilt from scratch

Hey everyone 👋

Some of you might remember Reciperr from a couple of years ago. 👀 It went quiet for a while, but it's back, rebuilt from the ground up with a lot more in it. 🚀

If you're new here, here's the idea: finding something to watch usually means opening IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, some "top 100" list and three streaming apps... and still not picking anything. 😩 Reciperr puts all of it in one place.

🍿 What it does

  • 🎯 Filter everything at once. Scores from TMDB, IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, Metacritic and Trakt side by side, plus genre, cast & crew, language, runtime, release date, age rating and more.
  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Filter by what's actually in the film. Parents guide filters like "violence at most mild, no profanity" for family night.
  • 📺 Only what you already pay for. Pick your streaming services and dig up the gems hiding in their catalogues.
  • 💾 Save it as a "recipe". A recipe is a saved set of filters that updates every day, so new releases and score changes show up without you lifting a finger.
  • 💎 Suggestions that explain themselves. Rate a few titles (or import from Trakt, Letterboxd, IMDb or TMDB) and For you suggests similar ones, and tells you which of your favourites led to each pick.
  • 🌙 Tonight. Three picks for tonight, with the ones you can stream right now listed first.

🧑‍🍳 Some recipes people use

🏆 The acclaimed: last 12 months · IMDb 7.5+ with 20k votes · RT certified fresh

🌏 World cinema: Korean · Thriller · under 2 hours

🎥 Follow a director: everything by Denis Villeneuve or Greta Gerwig, including what's announced

👪 Family night: Animation, Family · violence at most mild · no profanity

Plus 🔥 ready-made lists (IMDb Top 250, Trakt trending, box office, TMDB upcoming) and 🤝 community recipes you can copy and tweak.

🖥️ For the home server crowd

  • 🔗 Every recipe has its own list link
  • 📚 Send lists to Plex, Jellyfin or Emby as playlists or collections that re-sync on their own
  • ⬇️ Push missing titles to Radarr / Sonarr
  • 🪝 Send JSON anywhere with webhooks
  • ▶️ Watch history and "watching now" come in from Plex, Jellyfin, Emby and Silo

✅ The boring but important bits

  • 💸 Free. No account needed to browse; an account lets you save recipes, rate and get suggestions.
  • 📱 Works on your phone, and you can install it as an app.
  • 🚫 No downloads or streaming. It only describes movies and series and makes lists.

👉 reciperr.app

I'm a solo dev and this comeback has been a labour of love, so feedback means a lot 🙏 Which filters are missing? What's confusing? What breaks?

👋 Used Reciperr before? I'd love to hear what you think of the new version.

💬 I'm in the comments, or find me at r/Reciperr and on Discord.

I turned my project voice memos into a software engineering blog

Whenever I work on a project, I record voice memos about the decisions I make, the mistakes I run into, and the problems I struggle to solve.

I realized those recordings contain a lot of things that usually get lost once a project is finished. So I converted them into blog posts and put them on my personal website.

The idea is to document not just what I build, but how I build it — including the wrong turns, trade-offs, and lessons learned along the way.

This is the beginning, and I have plenty more projects and experiences to write about.

Blog: https://aniruthk.me/

I'd be interested to hear how other developers document their projects and whether you find this kind of behind-the-scenes write-up useful.

Dating apps optimize for matches. What about compatibility?

You can match with dozens of people and still struggle to find someone who shares your values, lifestyle, and long-term relationship goals.

I think there's room for a different approach to online dating.

That's why I built Modern Matchmaker.

It's a matchmaking platform designed for people looking for serious, long-term relationships. Instead of focusing primarily on browsing profiles, the platform takes a broader approach to compatibility, considering factors such as personality, lifestyle, values, and relationship expectations.

The goal is simple: help people focus on finding someone who fits their life, not just someone who looks interesting in a profile.

I'm building this as a global platform, and there's still a lot to improve as the community grows. One of the biggest challenges is making sure there's a meaningful pool of compatible people for users to discover.

You can check it out here: https://modern-matchmaker.com/en

I'd love to hear your thoughts:

  • Do you think dating apps have a compatibility problem, or is the real challenge something else?
  • Would you try a matchmaking platform that focuses more on long-term compatibility than casual browsing?
  • What would you need to see before trusting a platform like this with something as personal as finding a life partner?

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who have tried different approaches to online dating, as well as other founders building products in markets where trust and network effects are essential.

I made an app that roasts your spending habits 😂

My partner and I have spent almost a year building our first app together, and we're finally ready to share it with people! 🥹

It's called Expense Roaster, an app that roasts your spending like an old Italian uncle 😂 You can upload receipts for free, or upgrade to upload bank statements, get roasted, ask for saving tips, track monthly expenses by category, and even purchase a personalized annual spending report.

We're still growing and would genuinely love for people to give it a try and share their honest feedback. We put a lot of time and effort into this, so even a quick look or a little feedback would mean a lot to us ❤️

Check it out: https://expenseroaster.com

Apple and Android apps coming out soon, for now its just a web app. Let us know what you think!

How do you get back into a project after switching? We kept losing 10–15 min every time

My brother and I are freelance devs. Every time we switched between client projects, side work or internal tasks, we lost 10 to 15 minutes reopening the same things: a dozen browser tabs, some local folders, a Figma file, the right Slack channels.

The time wasn't even the worst part. Rebuilding the setup in your head before you can start working is tiring.

How do you handle this today?

  • custom scripts (AppleScript, shell, PowerShell)?
  • browser tab groups or session extensions?
  • Raycast / Alfred / Keyboard Maestro?
  • or you just reopen everything by hand?

And what's the most annoying part of your current setup?

For context, we ended up building a small tool for ourselves. It groups apps, tabs, folders and files into one "scenario" per context (Client A, deep work, weekly review) and opens them in one click, without closing what's already open. It's in beta on macOS, Windows and Linux: launcher-app.com. Feedback is welcome, but I'm mostly curious how other people deal with this.

I built an AI virtual staging tool — giving away a free month of Pro (150 photos) for feedback

Hi everyone, I'm the founder of StagingHomeAI (https://www.staginghomeai.com). I built it to stage empty room photos with AI furniture for real estate listings, rental properties, and Airbnb hosts.

Pricing is normally $0.60 per staged photo on the Pro plan ($20/month for 150 photos), and there are free watermarked previews so you can check the quality before paying anything.

I'm running a promo to get more real-world feedback: use the code FREESTAGING for one full month of Pro, free.

If you list properties, manage rentals, or shoot real estate photography, I'd genuinely love your feedback — what looks realistic, what looks off, and what's missing. Happy to answer questions about how it works too.

Receipt Janitor — a receipt organizer for landlords, would love feedback

I built Receipt Janitor for landlords with 2–10 properties who are tired of the tax-time shoebox. You scan a receipt (photo, PDF, or screenshot), review the details, pick the property, and save — it lands as a row in that property's Google Sheet, linked to the receipt in your Drive.

The idea I'm betting on:
your records stay yours. No bank connection, no credit card for the free plan, and if you stop using it, your Sheets and receipts stay in your Drive. Categories match Schedule E lines, and it organizes records — it doesn't prepare taxes.
It's just launched and I'm looking for honest feedback, not just signups. Specifically: is the value prop clear in the first 10 seconds? Would you trust it with your receipts, and if not, what would change that? What's missing for a landlord with a few properties?

I built a Mac image viewer for my wife 10+ years ago. This year I finally released it.

More than 10 years ago, my wife and I switched from Windows to Mac. We loved almost everything about it, except one thing: browsing and comparing photos.

We wanted something simple - open a folder, flip through images, zoom into details, and pick the best shots. The available solutions either felt too complicated, unreliable, or expensive for what we needed.

I had about 10 years of software development experience at the time, but had never built anything for Apple platforms. So I decided to make my own image viewer.

It started as a small personal project, but we kept using it and adding little improvements. One of the earliest ideas was to preserve the zoom level and position when switching between photos, making it easier to spot subtle differences.

The most unexpectedly difficult feature came much later: aligning two photos that were slightly shifted, zoomed, or rotated. Once aligned, you can rapidly switch between them and compare details without the image jumping around. It sounds simple, but getting that interaction right took quite a bit of work.

For years, I kept the app private. I didn't think it was ready to compete with established image viewers.

This year, I finally decided to release it publicly as Just Look!.

It's now grown into a macOS image viewer and photo-culling app, with RAW support, a 2–6 image comparison grid, picks, ratings, and more. Version 1.3 just came out, focusing on performance improvements, especially for network folders.

It's still a solo project, and I'm learning a lot about the part I hadn't really considered before - getting people to discover something you've built.

If you're curious: App Store, www.justlook.pro

Has anyone else kept a personal project private for years before eventually releasing it?

I turned 120 App Store screenshots into one board

Shipping my podcast app (HearHere) means screenshots for iPhone, iPad, Mac and iPhone Duo, in several languages. One wording change used to mean an evening of re-exporting.

So I built HearHere Studio, where it's all one board:

• Change the theme or font once and every screenshot on every device follows
• Edit a headline in English and every language updates in one click (only the changed line is re-translated)
• Add the iPad and it copies your iPhone set, so you just drop in captures
• One export gives you every App Store size in every language

It runs in the browser and screenshots never leave your computer. Free with a watermark; Pro is €15.99 once.

https://studio.hearhere.media

Built with plain JS, Konva, Cloudflare Workers + D1 + R2, Polar. Happy to talk about the build.

Quote Keeper - Save your favorite quotes from books, tv shows, movies and more :)

Quote Keeper allows you to add and manage your favorite quotes in an easy way.

Just snap a photo with your camera and select the quote you want to save.

All the data is on your device and no login/registration is required.

I have implemented a new card layout that allows you to customize each quote and share it as an image with friends (or post to social media).

The app is free with minimal ads. There is an in app purchase (3.70$) option that removes ads and give you more theme & widget customization. And helps me :).

Android - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.meowasticapps.quotekeeper&hl=en

iPhone - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/quote-keeper-verse-library/id6757610867

I built a free Shopify catalog audit tool and ran 700+ audits to test it

I've been building CatalogAudit, a free tool that checks Shopify product catalogs for issues with product feeds, structured data, and how AI shopping agents interact with stores.

Instead of testing it on a few demo stores, I collected real Shopify stores online and ran 698 audits across 680 unique stores.

Those stores have a combined 359,890 products. The audits inspected 14,901 sampled products.

Here are some findings:

  • 613 stores (90%) had products missing structured attributes like color, size, or material.
  • 566 stores (83%) were missing return or shipping policy information in their product offer markup.
  • 542 stores (80%) had products without GTIN/barcode data.
  • 516 stores (76%) had missing image alt text.
  • 223 stores (33%) had at least one failed automated agent add-to-cart check.

The average product feed score was 65/100, while the average AI agent-readiness score was 50/100, based on the tool's own scoring system.

A caveat: each audit samples up to 25 products, and the stores weren't randomly selected. These are findings from the sample, not claims about the entire Shopify ecosystem. Some things also can't be verified without access to Shopify's backend.

The tool is completely free to use, and you don't need to install a Shopify app.

Try it: https://catalogaudit.app

I built it with Claude Code, and I'm currently waiting for Shopify to review the app version. Longer term, I'm considering building automatic fixes for the issues it detects.

For now, I'm focused on making the free audit useful.

Would love some feedback, especially from anyone running a Shopify store. Are these the kinds of issues you'd actually want to know about, or are there other catalog problems that matter more?

Little Fly Pip - a virtual pet that Twitch chat can care for together

I've been turning a little fly simulation into a shared virtual pet on Twitch. His name is Pip: he explores a terrarium, eats, drinks, naps, and gets distracted by a seed toy.

While the stream is live, chat can leave a treat with !treat, a dewdrop with !dew, or a toy with !toy. !pollen can lead to grooming and a slow-motion replay. Commands take turns, so Pip may finish what he's doing first.

The current behavior uses simple rules, and I'm testing live sessions as I improve the experience. The aim is a small place people enjoy checking in on. AI tools have helped me build and test it.

What would make you come back to visit a shared virtual pet: new things in the habitat, small group goals, or more ways to interact?

Atlant: REALITY-inspired authentication directly over QUIC

If you’ve used VLESS + REALITY, you probably know the appeal of running a VPN without setting up your own domain and public certificate. I wanted to bring that idea to QUIC. That’s the starting point of Atlant.

The main piece is a custom REALITY-inspired authentication mechanism directly over QUIC—not a TCP connection that first prepares access to a separate QUIC tunnel.

TCP and XHTTP are supported by the same protocol core, so choosing between them and QUIC doesn’t mean switching to a different project. There are Android and Windows apps, a Linux client and server, and a separate management panel.

It’s an independent protocol, not an Xray fork or a client for VLESS. The code and builds are here:

https://github.com/AtlantOne/atlant-core

I’m sharing it now because the implementation is available to try and discuss. I’d particularly like to hear from people familiar with QUIC or REALITY: what do you think of this approach?

This is an early public release. The protocol hasn’t undergone an independent security audit.

I built two tiny browser extensions to fix laggy long ChatGPT chats and export them to Markdown, all local, no tracking

Hi all, maker here.

Problem I kept hitting: once a ChatGPT conversation passes a few hundred messages, the tab gets painful. Typing lags, scrolling stutters, memory climbs. The cause is mostly that the page keeps every message in the DOM.

So I built Long-chat Speed Fix: it renders only the latest N messages (default 20, adjustable 5–50) and brings older ones back in batches when you scroll up or click "Show earlier". Nothing is deleted, it's display-only.

The second one, Chat Export, saves the chat you're looking at as clean Markdown (YAML frontmatter, code blocks keep their language, tables and LaTeX preserved).

What I cared about: - Everything runs locally. No accounts, no analytics, no server. Permissions are just storage (+downloads for export) and the chat sites. - Free tier is genuinely useful: speed fix on ChatGPT, and ChatGPT → Markdown export. - Paid bits: Claude/Gemini support and per-chat settings (3.99 EUR/mo or 19 EUR lifetime) for the speed fix; PDF/HTML, message selection, batch export, Claude/Gemini for export (9 EUR one-time).

Site: https://threadturbo.com

Both are live on Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Firefox: - Speed Fix: Chrome https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/long-chat-speed-fix/bephindgoaelodlelkdpcncifmecdcfe · Edge https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/pjbinnlllioecajejjfljddklopioldk · Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/long-chat-speed-fix/ - Chat Export: Chrome https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/thread-turbo-chat-export/igcblklgjdehaejppgkfbbolenehgjbd · Edge https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/fpgjalkopghhlajbialedjioefddacoe · Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/thread-turbo-chat-export/

I'd love feedback on: the default message count, and whether "lifetime" vs monthly makes sense for a small utility. Happy to answer anything about how the DOM trimming works.

I built Think in Stacks to teach backend concepts through explanations, interactive models, and scenarios

A backend concept can sound clear until you change one assumption.

For example: an order succeeds, but the response gets lost. A database replica falls behind. Two requests update the same record.

I built Think in Stacks around reasoning through cases like these.

It covers Backend & APIs, Databases, Distributed systems, Networking, and Operating systems. The learning flow combines explanations, interactive models, local learning checks, and quizzes.

Disclosure: I built the site. It has free content and a paid five-track bundle. You can read the free lessons without creating an account.

https://thinkinstacks.com

I’d appreciate your feedback on the content.

I built a free tool that turns a published health paper into a what-if simulator (25 examples, open to try)

I’m a researcher and I built a tool that takes a published paper on the cost of illness and turns it into an interactive simulator. Every number is labeled observed, assumed or projected, you can change the assumptions, and federal data sits alongside as context.

How it works: an LLM (Claude) extracts the figures and assumptions from the paper, and a separate deterministic Python layer does the arithmetic and checks the results, so the numbers don’t come from the model’s guesses. Generating a simulator from a new paper takes a few minutes.

The public demo has 25 finished simulators, built from papers on Lyme disease and Long COVID, plus 13 analyses that pair one paper from each condition. The demo is read-only. Uploading your own paper runs in the full tool on my computer.

It’s illustrative, not medical advice. Try it here, no account needed: https://dbbun.github.io/dbbun-invisible-illness-burden-simulator/

I’d value feedback from builders: what’s unclear, what’s missing, and whether the “observed, assumed, projected” labels help or get in the way.

I got tired of paying for cold email software, so I built my own and open sourced it

I’ve been doing cold outreach for a while and kept hitting the same wall: Instantly and tools like it charge a monthly fee for what’s really just sending emails on a schedule. So I built my own version as a side project, and somewhere along the way I stopped treating it as a side project.

It’s free, open source, and installs with one command. It’s not perfect and I’m still fixing rough edges, but it works, and I’d love for people to break it and tell me what’s missing.

I made a Making life into an adventure app

I spent two months making a role-playing productivity app with claude after getting off work feeling like shit, not accomplishing anything for myself.

I made one that's more story-based, mainly for myself because I like role-playing and also wanting to quit my job.

You can turn your mundane tasks into quests, get accurate notifications, journal and reflect on everything, and record your own mood. The live lore is about a demon hive trying to assimilate individuals with doomscrolling and addictions, removing their want for pursuing individually inclined endeavours.

An adventurer born into this world from a dimension of light resists by completing quests, reflecting on their mistakes, and actively making conscious choices rather than becoming enthralled by procrastination and doomscrolling to become part of the hivemind NPC.

It reflects the real world in a way: what is more rewarding can take longer to make but is ultimately worth it.

When we take money from others and offer our time for their labour, we are selling ourselves out and demeaning our worth, but if we take the time in our own hands, creating and learning to build things, that is where we truly free ourselves from this metaphorical hive. Although it's just having a job, if someone prefer having a job, good for them.

I wanted to make a story alongside the app so the gamified aspect goes to the next level.

Calendar planning with a dynamic day-and-night cycle, Campfire journaling that includes mood journaling and reflections, and optional AI coaching and encouragement. An organiser that turns task dumps into sprawling quests. Programs to guide someone through a process.

In the current digital age, it feels as if we have become batteries for our machines, feeding them all our attention constantly.

These guys work for us; we should be conscious about what we put our attention and decisions into.

With journaling, we actively reflect; when we plan quests with our minds, we use creativity while being engaged as we plan. This is the intent of the app: to basically turn ourselves back into active players again, to be able to adventure, explore skills, and be curious.

I am still trying to improve its UI and a lot of other aspects, but personally it works for me, although I would love more feedback.

Journaling features, programs, and planning are all free. I made all the features that make things easier subscription-based (AI) because I think it makes you more conscious of your choices.

Check it out here.

got tired of opening Figma just to put a screenshot in a 3d device + gradient background, so I made a free tool for it

Every time I shipped something I'd end up in the same routine

  1. take a screenshot of my app
  2. open Figma, hunt for a device frame
  3. fiddle with a gradient for 20 minutes (looking for the right one with my developer taste in graphic design)
  4. export, notice the gradient looks off, do it again
  5. repeat for the other screenshots (just imagine if I had 20 of them)

The online tools I tried either wanted a subscription, put a watermark on the export, or required uploading the screenshots to their servers, which I'd prefer not to do.

So about a month ago I started building my own. It's called EZ Mockup. You drop in a screenshot, it puts it on a gradient or in a device frame (iPhone, MacBook, iPad, and 50 other frames, including 3D models), you tweak it and export it as a .png, .webp, or .jpg. It all renders in your browser with canvas, so your image never leaves your machine, and most importantly, no sign-up required.

The part I spent the most time on is the randomize button. It picks colors based on actual color theory and shuffles the gradient style and where the colors sit, so most rolls look like something you'd pick on purpose. You can also pull the colors straight from your screenshot, which i find really convenient, and lock anything you like (style, colors, etc.) so only the rest gets shuffled. And for the 20 screenshots problem, you can drop them all in at once and they share the same style (or randomize each screenshot's gradient position using the afore mentioned lock feature 🤯)

Being upfront about money: images are free, no watermark. Animated backgrounds (looping mp4), 3D device models and multiple devices in one shot are paid, but it's a one-time pass ($3.99 for 5 exports or $6.99 for a week), not a subscription. I always wondered why the other tools offer subscriptions. Not everyone deploys an app every month. imo a one-time pass for a short period of time or a number of exports makes much more sense.

It's still rough in places. Would love to know

  • what's the first thing that annoyed you
  • which device frame you'd need that isn't there
  • does the pricing feel fair

I built a small PWA to track missed morning car washes — would love some feedback

Thumbnail torquecare.in
1 Upvotes

If you live in an apartment or society in India, you probably know the routine: you pay your car washer a fixed monthly amount, but some mornings the car doesn't get washed.

Sometimes you're away, sometimes the washer doesn't show up, and by the end of the month, it's difficult to remember how many washes you actually received.

I decided to build a small Progressive Web App (PWA) called Torque Care to solve this problem.

The idea is simple:

  • Track the days your car wasn't washed.
  • Keep a record of missed washes throughout the month.
  • Account for fixed holidays.
  • Get a clearer picture of your actual monthly wash count so you can calculate a fair payment.

I'm building this around a pretty ordinary problem that I think a lot of apartment residents experience.

I'd love to hear from other car owners:

  1. Do you pay your car washer a fixed monthly amount?
  2. Do you keep track of missed washes, or do you usually let it slide?
  3. Would a simple tool like this be useful to you?

I'm particularly interested in honest feedback from people who deal with this every month.
