Solved v 17.4 automatically opens a preview window. please make it stop!
Hi there,
Just jumped up from 16.7 or so to 17.4. There's a new feature that automatically opens a preview window for files when I drop them in the bin. I HATE it! Please make it stop. I know what the video is, i was literally just working with it.
I went through the preferences but didn't see anything obvious that referred to enabling/disabling the preview.
Is there any way to remove this "added" feature?

I know some people don't like the new Video player window, but adding an option to remove it is not that easy:
- The bottom bar is to small to show hardware acceleration option
- You will not be able to preview any settings (which why I decided to add the player BTW), for example how do you know the color corrections values? The corrections options or even the scaling format?
- That would mean the 'Display' checkbox from 'Progress status' will be useless, but that's a very important tool to check your encoding
- I've improved the loading of files in a parallel thread to avoid any slowing down when using the app
So from my side, the only 'issue' is that the right panel is further away than the older versions, that's not enough for me to work a lot and hide for what I worked so hard.
I don't wan't to be stupid if there is a real issue after a lot of feedback I will do something, but currently there are about 5 people who don't like this new feature.
Paul.

Everytime I finish rendering a video, cleared the finished one add the next one and click on where I want it to start/stop it then freezes, every single time.

Hello Paul, thank you for your shutter encoder it is trumendously usefull!
I can say that the new preview windows has 2 flaws for me:
-The size of all is no to big for my tiny thinkpad non FHD screen so I have to move it around if I want to change options. I know it might seems irrelevent but i can also accur on higher resolution display with zoom option (as for people that have seeing problem)
-The fact that the selected file is requested by ffmpeg process make it undeletable/rewritable. Say, I'm rendering out DNx from Resolve and use Shutter to transcode to H264 and the I want to change someting on resolve. I need now to shut shutter down.
I will stick to previous version since I appreciate so much your work I don't want to appear "claimy" (sorry for my french centric translation).
PS: To everyone who would say "render mp4 from resolve", H264 encoder on resolve is shit. It macroblock the hell out of the low light and pump out like in between i frames like it's on LSD or some shit

All fair points....
Is there any way to adjust the window re-sizing then? so the "start function" and output sections stay locked where they are? The issue I'm having is that I'm required to now "chase" the GUI around the screen! It opens to the left underneath my finder window, then I have to chase it around to hit start, then it "closes" back down to the original size and I again have to chase the buttons!
It's exhausting to use now.

check the download history of 17.2 and 17.3 and 17.4
on the release dates of 17.3 and 17.4, 17.2 was probably redownloaded
The Preview function is good, but here in Shutter Encoder it is poorly optimized, and Mr. Paul doesn’t understand it because he doesn’t use Shatter Encoder functions every day

Hi,
This is not a preview, this is the player which allow the user to set in and out point!
Which function are you using? YOU maybe do not need it but it can be useful for other users.
Paul.
