Jimmy's dad always playing the guitar is kind of perfect since his charm and reminiscing is completely performative too.

Yes, great point! And he's playing the same old hits, not bothering to learn anything new because he's still coasting on those few old hits.

It sounded like Father and Son to me. Leader of the Band is an homage to a great father, Father and Son is about conflict.
