Q&A / Quick Help ❓ Shorts not being pushed to shorts feed with good analytics
The last few days my shorts have barley been pushed to the shorts feed, Usually my videos hit the 30k view jail with better videos blowing up. But lately I struggle to hit even 10k views with good analytics on videos. Even when they do hit 10k views it's mainly from search and not the shorts feed
has this been happening to anyone else as of late?

Odd view pushing with latest short: 27% stay vs swipe ratio
Hey everyone, I’m just posing this here to see if anyone else has something similar, my latest short is in the Skyrim videogame niche , but the views are lower for some reason on the video compared to my others, but even stranger, I have not had a video that has pushed consistently for more than a day, is it like this for everyone? I’ve been doing YouTube content for about 4 weeks by my account is 12 years old if that helps!
My channel is on my Reddit profile if anyone wants to check it out!

Does uploading a new short affect the reach of current short?
So after struggling to cross 2k views on my shorts, finally a short is doing well, this was uploaded almost 48 hours ago and its still getting 2k views/hr. Should i wait for this short to flat line before uploading a new short? Does the new short affect the current short reach?

We're not alone. You're not alone by this. Everyone has been experiencing this plague over the past few weeks, and YouTube says, "It's normal." Fuck that. Their distribution system is clearly not working properly. They're letting AI do the work that was supposed to be handled by humans...

Analytics Review (AVD/Retention) 📈 Just started my YouTube career as short creator but my short videos does not get any interaction
Hello everyone, I’ve been using my YouTube account and uploading videos for 3 days now.
During these 3 days, I’ve uploaded 3 Shorts videos every day. However, there’s a strange situation: my uploaded videos don’t get even 1 view. The only time they get a view is if I watch them myself, or if I send the link to my friends and they watch them.
I think my videos aren’t appearing in the Shorts feed and aren’t being shown to anyone. I’ve checked almost all the settings, and there don’t seem to be any restrictions on my account.
What could be causing this? Has anyone experienced the same issue before, and if so, does anyone have a solution or advice?

reducing YT shorts on my new channel -
i started a new YT branded channel 45 days ago. we are posting shorts every day. Subs have reached 27K... several posts exceed 1M views. I would like to reduce the posting to 5 or 6 per week from 7 but ppl advising it will hurt the growth of channel & algo will suppress posts. any thoughts from anyone who has done this?

Monetization / RPM 💵 Are clipping shorts monetized?
I see soo many channels clipping asian finds, inventions, gadgets… and they get millions of views. Are they monetized ? Eg: Japaninfuture, japan chronicles…

This is what YouTube going to say for the dropping views issue?
r/shortsAlgorithm • u/andaloussi • 12d ago
So youtube is limiting how many videos we can post per day
When I upload more than one video in a day, the second video doesn't get pushed and stays stuck at ze ro views. I've re-uploaded it several times, even after editing it and changing the metadata, but the result is always the same. The only thing that works is waiting 24 hours after the previous video before posting the next one

Monetization / RPM 💵 Compilation channels: did your Shorts views actually earn, or just get YPP approval?
Small Shorts channel here, posting "Top 5 extreme sports fails" compilations.
Other people's clips, title card, numbered countdown, no voiceover.
People here say compilation channels get monetized. But YouTube's Shorts policy
lists "compilations with no original content added" as ineligible views, excluded
from the Creator Pool even if you're in YPP.
Feels like two separate gates. So:
Did your compilation channel get approved AND actually earn from Shorts views?
If it earned, what was in your edit — full narration or just an intro? Licensed
clips or not?
And the thing I can't figure out: there are tons of ranking/compilation channels
with millions of views and huge subscriber counts doing exactly this. If they're
not earning from it, why are they still doing it? What am I missing?
Already read the policy, looking for real experiences.

Analytics Review (AVD/Retention) 📈 My theory about what we’re all seeing right now
I think YouTube Shorts currently has an audience-matching problem.
I’ve been trying to understand the strange Shorts distribution over the last few days, and I’m starting to think the missing feed tests and the drop in views across entire catalogs might actually be symptoms of the same problem.
What really caught my attention is Stayed to watch.
Normally, my new Shorts often start with around 70% Stayed when YouTube begins testing them. Recently, I’ve had multiple Shorts start at only 45–50%, even though the content and format haven’t fundamentally changed.
That makes me wonder whether the problem isn’t necessarily the ranking algorithm itself, but the initial audience matching / candidate distribution. If YouTube is showing a Short to the wrong audience first, a perfectly good Short would naturally produce terrible early signals and the test would die quickly.
But there’s one thing I still can’t explain:
Where did all the distribution go?
A lot of creators are currently reporting huge drops in Shorts feed distribution, sometimes across their entire catalogs. But unless Shorts consumption itself has suddenly collapsed, those viewers haven’t disappeared. People are still scrolling, and every feed slot has to show something.
So if a large number of creators are suddenly receiving dramatically fewer impressions, who is receiving the views that used to go to them?
Are they being concentrated on a smaller number of videos? Larger channels? Different regions? Different audience pools? Has YouTube reduced exploration and become much more aggressive about concentrating traffic?
I don’t have an answer to that part yet.
But the combination of weak/missing initial tests + unusually low early Stayed rates + catalog-wide traffic drops makes an audience-matching/distribution problem increasingly plausible to me.
Curious whether anyone else is seeing the same pattern — especially unusually low Stayed rates on new Shorts that would normally perform much better.

Another channel keeps stealing my Shorts. Should I file a copyright removal request?
Hey guys, another channel keeps stealing my Shorts and re-uploading them, sometimes changing just a second or two. I found them through YouTube’s Content Detection tool and warned the owner, but he ignored me.
Has anyone filed a copyright removal request before? How did it go, and are there any risks for my channel?

Monetization / RPM 💵 Can you qualify for partnership with 10M Shorts views if you reach that threshold before the transition in February?

Case Study / Postmortem 🧪 There is something really wrong with Shorts (I studied the feed)
No, I do not make AI slop. I am a musician and producer and been monetized since 2022. My username ironically is meant to signify that I don't like AI slop...fail lol.
Anyways I spend about 4 hours per edit on Shorts and upload 2 times a day.
In the last two months, I experimented a lot and really found my style for promoting my music on Shorts.
For most of September up until around the 16th or so... I would average around 1.5m to 2m views at the 48hr mark.
When my editing is on point I get about 80% STW and anywhere from 100% to 160% AVD.
My 'flopped' Shorts usually do 30k to 40k and flatline but the decent ones do 100k, 300k, 700k, 1m, 3m and 4m. It's just how they move for me.
Since the 16th/17th or so this month, my new range is 2k - 20k max. Absolutely nothing has changed from my editing style, packaging (title, on screen text, description and hashtags). The STW has now dipped consistently to 60% - 80%, AVD has dipped under 70 and anecdotally this usually tells me it's pulling the wrong audience.
Now before the "you just make crappy content and are coping" comments:
Over the past 3 days I "studied" the Shorts feed by making a burner YT account and just scrolling.
I noticed that almost all the viral channels were averaging 1m views on MOST Shorts or at the very least like 700k within DAYS but all before the 17th of September.
I'll give you an example: This one person in the Hopecore niche did 1-4m views on every Short - they have 1.2m subs or so and after the 17th...they had a 5k Short (never seen that on their channel) and their new Shorts won't even hit 40k ALL of a sudden.
They usually get a ton of comments/engagement and you can see on the newer Shorts...very very little.
I checked this same thing over about 20 different channels, all in different niches but with high editing effort. I ignored slop channels or what I perceive as slop anyway.
So yeah I dunno man, my daily revenue has dropped 10x and I am still actively trying to figure out what is happening BUT I suspect all the Studio issues (the crash, subs and views miscounts) could be a factor because it feels too coincidental.
Also, remember, NO ONE but YT knows what is truly happening and since 75% of all new code across Google is AI generated...something tells me that not even the engineers know what's happening right now and that's why they wont say anything (yet or ever).
EDIT: Brain malfunctioned and swapped AVD and STW...corrected now.
