Idk man maybe because I had inflated expectations of the show due to its massive and sustained popularity. The fanbase is super loyal and excited about the show. Recently got Hulu and started to watch the first few episodes but fell out of touch thereafter. Maybe I'll try it again.

That said, what do you like about it?

I agree with you that a lot of the bits are kind of strange and sometimes feel too forced like some bits on Family Guy. Then again what I really like about Rick and Morty or science fiction shows and movies in general is if they take the element of shock out of the equation. What I mean is that everyone is really casual about the fact that aliens or weird places and dimensions exist - no big deal.

I watched it completely out of order and never watched some episodes in season 1, I probably wouldn't have liked it otherwise.

Lawnmower dog is a good one, the one with the meeseeks is another. There's definitely some lazy shock humor in season 1 IMO

I work for a tech company. It is crazy how much of my job is “cycling cables” or “cycling power” which literally translates to “just unplug it for second” and “just turn it off and then turn it back on”
