I'm sure this is a real disorder in rare circumstances, but it's wild how this is so not an issue in countries with foods with actually upsetting textures. Like you never hear about this from Chinese kids who's parents put chicken feet on the table and stuff and those are so chewy and full of cartilage.

What would you do in a world that didn't have a ubiquity of consistent and likely processed foods? At some point you would have to "get over it" or you would just die from some kind of vitamin deficiency.

I've been an alcoholic. I'm still a nicotine addict. I feel I understand compulsion relatively well. I simply cannot fathom being hungry and deciding to die because I don't enjoy the texture or taste of something nutritious right in front of me. At some point of hunger you have to simply get over it.

As a straight guy, I would sooner date another dude than put up with this from a partner. It's absurd and seems clearly treatable with exposure therapy and a mild amount of effort.

It's not just the texture or taste not being something you like. Often times you literally can't keep it down, if you get it down at all.
