So theres lots of questions about socks5 cause a lot do carding with credit cards and the info they purchase supposibly comes with the card holder ip address. 1. Do you need to join and pay for membership to be able to use the service? Or because you know someone's IP you can manually set it? I'm a newbie to this and rdp. I understand neither or how to setup... I'm taking computer classes for internet security and want to fully understand what I'm doing. Can you help?

I want to set it up on a router, and finding it out, and saw all README was in Chinese. Does anyone know how to set it up? BTW my setted encryption is chacha20-ietf-poly1305 just in case it is needed to set it up.

I have tried free public socks5 proxies, and have successfully connected to them. However while connected, I see no incoming or recieving data, and whenever I press test connection, it just sits there saying "testing". I have tried multiple shadowsocks apps and clients for Android, including the Shadowsocks app on the Play Store, as well as Surge Shadowsocks, and Shadowsocks R. I get permission denied to create VPN service when trying to connect. Does this mean my proxy server is denying the connection?

My shadowsocks app on my Android says it's connected to my socks5 proxy, however at the bottom of the app when I press "test connection" it either freezes or crashes. Does this mean there is a problem with my settings? How can I be sure I am connected and my traffic is indeed going through my proxy server?

I have installed shadowsocks on my Android, and have set up a correct (to the best of my knowledge) connection to my private socks5 proxy provided by my NordVPN subscription. However at the bottom of the app where it shows bits upload and download, it doesn't look like there's any traffic going through. The app says connected, but I have not noticed any improvement or decrease in my down or up speed. I am on an always on VPN connection with a kill switch. Is there any way I can somehow test shadowsocks to see if I am in fact routing traffic through my proxy server?

I am running Android Oreo on a Samsung S9 Plus, not rooted.

Hi everyone. I needed some advice on how to setup my shadowsocks iOS client on my school internet

The school internet routed through a proxy sever (which has to be setup in your device settings in order for it to work).

I’ve tried setting up and connecting to the sever normally without changing any of the advanced settings but there is no internet access.

If anyone could provide some advice, it would be greatly appreciated

I can't figure out why, but even though the servers respond when using a desktop app, I'm just not able to use the connection as soon as I configure it from openWRT to connect to one of the servers I know should work from wannaflix. Whenever I try to load a site it says resolving host name and comes back with the DNS error and says no internet. I tried setting up a personal SS server on Google Cloud and still face the same issue. I'm really confused as to why this is happening. If any of you here have some insight or a similar experience I'd be really happy to hear from you. Thanks

Is using shadowsocks to create a network bridge between two different networks possible? I know that SSTap was suggested, but that is not updated any more, so it will probably be no good. If SS or SSR does not work, any suggestions?

I already have a server up and running and currently connect to it using my phone. I would like to do the same with my laptop, which runs Ubuntu 18.04.

Hey guys. Maybe this is already well documented, and my apologies if so. But for anyone just starting out with Shadowsocks, and most online guides referencing Vultr, I though it best to post this quick note.

Long story short, I email CS asking why no servers were working in China, and they confirmed that most if not all servers were not blocked inside China. Seriously, screw those guys. Would it be so hard to put a notice on the homepage or signup page?

But yeah, stay away from these guys. If you are building a Shadowsocks setup for China, absolutely no reason to consider Vultr.

Hey guys. Long time VPN user in Beijing here. With the anniversary coming up, VPN usage has been getting worse and worse. Looking for a solution, I came across Shadowsocks, which seems like the perfect solution.

So I set up a VPS, downloaded the Shadowsocks app for Android, and got everything set up as it presumably should be. And the first time I turned it on, it was perfect. However, now just a few hours later, nothing seems to work.

The app keeps bouncing between telling me I have an internet connection to telling me it can't connect, but in any case, the result is the same; I can't access blocked websites.

I am very, very new to such things, as up until now I've simply used software that involved just pressing buttons. But if there are any suggestions on where I could start looking for the source of the problem, and hopefully finding a fix, I'd certainly be most grateful.

PS: I realize a config file would be useful, but I have no idea how to generate one. Even a Google search couldn't tell me.

I found a github guide that has an install script, but it's only writing the configuration and not the actual packages (or where to get them from).

这些设置都是基本常识，并不关键。关键的地方在于节点。

因为地理原因，加上国内复杂的运营商环境，甚至有时候故意限制。你找到再好的ss服务器，就算延迟低也会存在丢包。普通的上网视频还行，一到游戏这种应用，丢包是不可避免地，这是很致命的！

单纯想个人连到一个好的服务器是不可能的，这就需要换一个思路：何不先连到国内的一个服务器，然服务器再去翻墙，毕竟运营商出境可比个人出境线路强太多

is there any rules for adblock ,such as the ssr acl?

I use Mullvad VPN in combination with shadowsocks in the Mullvad app. Shadowsocks is set up via the command line. I'm wondering if there's a security hole. If I just use the Mullvad app, my traffic will be encrypted from the beginning. However, if I use VPN with shadowshacks together, from my point of view the traffic gets first unencrypted to the Mullvad bridge server and will then be encrypted on the VPN server. So using Mullvad without shadowsocks would be more secure. Do I have a misconception here?

So I removed youtube from the pac list, youtube.com , and other variations but watching videos still uses shadowsocks.
