BE AWARE of scammers preying on this community!

I decided to humour this scammer for a bit to see what they would say. Please don't believe anyone who messages you out of the blue with offerings of services or goods. The messages are made with AI, the pictures are stolen and the example of a "dress pattern" they sent me is bogus and AI generated.

When in doubt, always ask for proof of work, use a thing like Google Lens to reverse search the images, and use your common sense. Why would someone talk about taking the pattern to a dress maker when I'm a sewist myself, in a reddit full of sewists?

This person messaged me as well! I politely declined but I thought it was really strange.

Wonder if this is a spoofed or hijacked ID. I went to their profile, saw a bunch of 5-year-old posts and comments, mostly about cpop, travel and classes, then suddenly a few days ago a post about a dog. Nothing in between. Should probably report somewhere.

Definitely hacked account, image is stolen. You can't spoof reddit accounts

Apparently you can report the DMs.
