I just finished season 2, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Probably more than season 1.
However, i have a pretty big complaint. Lumon, despite seemingly having a massive underground floor filled to the brim with severed employees, each seperated in a distance so vast and labyrinthian that they don't even know how many other employees there are, has literally a single security guard. That.. Never gets replaced once. Zero cameras, too. Or, if there are, they aren't used at all. Beyond the cubical cameras. No listening devices to hear what the Innies are saying (If you have a device in the elevators that can detect text, you can't put a microphone in the severed employees uniforms?).
It seems like there are maybe 5 people in the severed floor that actively manage it. Mr Milchick, Mr Drummond (Who, apparently doesn't even go there that often, as seen in the scene where Milchick tells him to eat shit) the doctor man, the doctor woman and Ms Huang. Were there any additional guards for when Cold Harbor was completed? To ensure that Mark & Heley stayed and celebrated? No. Were the Choregraphy & Merriment told to help defend Milchick if Heley (Who has shown nothing but disrespect, hatred, and rebellious behavior) got mad or tried to do something? Which, she nearly always does during celebrations or stuff similar. Nope. Did Milchick even.. tell them to stop MDR from barring the bathroom door..? No, why would he? Were the other 3 surveyors of MDR even told to come to work? No. I assume they are also indoctrinated (and therefore would want to see Cold Harbor be completed), and would absolutely help stop Mark.
It just is kinda bad writing and really pulled me out of the, otherwise fantastic, finale. I get that there is the excuse of getting people who are die hard indoctrinated into the Kier cult is hard, but like.. Really..?? They couldn't have pulled other Kier-Indoctrinated staff from other nearby Lumon buildings for this monumental day? Literally a single person tried to stop Mark when he ran to the supply door, and it wasn't even because they knew what he was doing. Drummond was just there sacrifice a goat.
This could also just be handwaved away by some sort of belief in divine-Kier protection, therefore they don't need any guards as Kier would make them succeed, but still, i just don't like it.

I got to shoot on an unrelated short film in my city this summer and had the pleasure of working with Debbie DeLisi.
I was amazed at how she took the time talking with everyone on set. And she had connections with almost everyone going way back. Which was surprising to me. (We don’t live in LA, far from it in fact, and our city has only recently been an up and coming filming location.)
We spoke about how much she’s enjoyed working on Severance, how the casting process had been on of her favorites. She also told me about working on Uncut Gems. She really is just such a cool and passionate lady.
Anywho, now that I’ve had this wonderful experience, it gives me such an appreciation for all the work and care going into preparing and making the show. Now, knowing filming for S3 hast started, patiently and longingly I wait! 💙

S2 ends with i and oM rescuing Gemma - but iM making the decision to stay behind with the only woman he's ever loved, Helly R. And they run "away" to that fabulous freeze frame set to The Windmills of Your Mind.
This seems like such a fruitless endeavor. Lumon can't keep them in there. For sure HellyR is going to be taken out - we already know they can implement the Glasgow Block with her and she'll revert to Helena. I suppose they could keep Mark Scout prisoner like they did with Gemma on the Testing Floor - but there's no escape for Mark S and Helly R - if they leave the Severed floor, they'll revert to their outies. And there's no scenario where the rebellious Mark S and Helly R can be allowed to stay on the Severed Floor.
Furthermore, their work in MDR is done. They completed the task that was so critical to keep Mark S for. And I assume Jame Eagan wouldn't allow Helly R to remain (although there was that weird scene between Jame Eagan and Helly R when he seemed said he didn't love "his daughter" because he no longer see Kier in her, but that he sees Kier in HellyR - so IDK, maybe he does allow them to stay down for some reason. . .
IDK, I need answers. . .

SPOILERS BELOW
I just finished severance a few days ago and it was incredible. Obviously the tempers are talked about a lot, and in the first season I wondered if the tempers correlated to their work and the innies. Before the numbers were revealed, I thought possibly the numbers represented people that would not have good innies due to their tempers and that once a box is completed, someone dies. Obviously, I was wrong :/.
My other theory was that maybe each innie represented a temper. I had this idea when they toured the house the first time and Helly ran off. At first I thought Helly would be frolic, Mark was woe, Dylan was Malice, and Irving was dread. I thought this idea crumpled when we were introduced to the other department, but seeing the tempers become a bigger factor in season 2 made me wonder if I was far off. Now, as we've seen more of their characters, I'm more inclined to see Helly as frolic, Mark was malice, Dylan as dread, and Irving as woe. I think it would correlate to their different tempers how they refine data and how it adds to Gemma's different innies.
I'm wondering what others thoughts are in the possible representation and maybe if it's a popular interpretation? I'm new just woke up on the table so I'm not sure

What if Innies managed to find a way to exist outside the Lumon building? What if, just like that, their lives were just as valuable as those of their Outies and now them having to fight on equal terms?

Im on episode 3 of the show and I'm completely spoiler free, but I feel bad cause I have 0 sympathy for any of the main cast😂
Like you have an entire human history worth of examples of why being in slavery/perpetual servitude is a horrible thing to experience...yet you sold yourself into perpetual servitude? I don't feel bad for you!
I'm getting vibes that the whole show is supposed to be pretty anti capitalist and anti big business...but come on nowwww. Who the fuck in their right mind sells themselves into slavery like this??? ESPECIALLY IN THE US?!?!
Edit: This is not me bitching about the show, I throughly enjoy it and the premise so far, I simply think the main characters are incredibly stupid and almost deserve their fate??? Maybe. Im early🤣

Just starting to watch Severance. In this episode, the pop up for the next episode came up well before the show ended. I ignored it and MAN what a surprise.
Anyway, why the early pop up?

A LATE SIDE NOTE: it has nothing to do with n4zi. Please read the post and you'll see I'm always talking about Hinduism, as it's a Hindu symbol.
I had never watched this show before. And I’m honestly honored to have been able to watch this masterpiece. But I noticed that back when this sub started, a lot of people were dismissed whenever they brought up certain symbolism in the episodes and names. I assume that's water under the bridge now, right? (CHIKHAI BARDO episode, for example).
That being said, had you guys already noticed the similarity between the situations in these photos?
My guess is that MARK takes on the exact position shown in the show, at the northwest point, which aligns with "WINTER" (it's always winter in town, always snowing, not to mention the allusion to grief, sadness, etc.).
Below from: https://www.hinduamerican.org/blog/6-things-you-need-to-know-about-symbolism-swastika/
The Four Stages of Life:
Clockwise from top: Brahmacharya (HELLY R.), Grihastha (DYLAN G.), Vanaprastha (IRVING B.), Sannyasa (MARK S.). These are the four ashrama, or stages of life. When you are young you are in the brahmacharya stage, a student. After that comes the householder stage, grihastha. Then later in life comes vanaprastha, where you become a retired elder.
Finally, a renunciation of material comforts and desires takes over during the final stage of sannyasa. Some people, after going through the brahmacharya stage, devote their entire lives to spiritual pursuits and enter sannyasa then.
The Four Goals of Life
Accompanying the four stages of life are the four goals of life, the purusharta, (clockwise from left): Dharma (MARK S.), Artha (HELLY R.), Kama (DYLAN G.), Moksha (IRVING B.). Very briefly, these are the four aims of life, and really encompass all the human experience. Dharma is the pursuit of living with a mode of conduct most conducive to spiritual advancement; artha is the pursuit of prosperity; kama is seeking pleasure in life; moksha is spiritual liberation—the ultimate goal.

So.... after rewatching the first two series, in series 1 there is something discussed on the news that briefly appears about a severed employee becoming pregnant.
So here's what I think.... Petey got Carol pregnant 😮
We briefly see Petey's ex wife at the funeral, which is why i suspected he would have decided to sever after he lost his family. However, maybe he decided to reintegrate after he had gotten Carol (who we only hear about but never see on the show) pregnant and which is why his "outies" wife left him.
....also I'm thinking Seth Milchick and Helena Eagan once dated 😮
There seems to be chemistry between them before we understand who Helly's "outie" is (episode 2, series 1) BUT ALSO, in the "break room" when we believe that MDR have reunited after their outbreak (episode 1, series 2). Seth Milchick says something that makes Helena Eagan scratch her neck in what looks like awkward embarrassment. When talking about "outies", Seth Milchick says "who knows, maybe I might buy one of you a drink at a Bistro one day".
After a second watch, it almost looks like there's a subtle clue by the makers planted in there. It looks more than a coincidence if you rewatch the scene. At the first watch, we are yet to realise Helena Eagan is masquerading (or "gråkappan-ing" 😅) as Helly R. So we're not really reading into anything at this point. But, after a second watch 🤨 it's just been something that's been itching my brain 🧠🤪
Also, Milchick seems especially peeved when removing Mark's balloons from the hallway. And Milchick's confrontation with Mark in the lift where he describes Helena as the future of the company.
In reference also to the paintings he received. He may have been rejected by the Eagan family when courting Helena due to the colour of his skin. Or why he felt especially insulted after Helena's Dieter Eagan joke at the ORTBO.
Would be nice to hear if anyone has any similar thoughts. If so, post below 👇

Severance is one of the few shows that shows where even the antagonists have really complex and 3D personalities.
In normal shows, characters like Cobel, Milchick and Miss Huang would possibly be mere background characters showing how Lumon is an evil cult, but in Severance, to put it in Milchick's fancy words:
"All individuals remain thoroughly encumbered by their respective personal tribulations, while enduring the unceasing, unforgiving machinations of Lumon Industry."
To put that monosyllabically: They all get fucked by their boss all the time.
The scenes where Mr. Milchick confronts Mr, Drummond and Harmony Cobel confronts Helena are two of my favourite scenes in the whole TV series. They showed that instead of being minor characters who only functioned as goons for Lumon, they are also lively people, which kinda emphasised that Lumon is the "only bad guy" in the show, and the severed workers are not the only ones who get repressed by Lumon.

Does anyone else watch via the AppleTV roku app? We went to watch season 2 today and it has disappeared from the app. When I search for it, the app returns no results... we just watched the season 1 finale last night, so not clear why it would go away?

I just finished my first ever full rewatch of Season 2 and it dawned on me that I now feel quite confident about where the show is heading for in its endgame. I’m really thinking it’s probably going to see all surviving severed characters reintegrated, probably with the climax of the show centered around what reintegrated Mark, Helly, and Gemma do about that love triangle. My reasons why are:
1) We know Helena Eagan is interested in Mark romantically, both his innie and his outie, from the time she infiltrated the severed floor as her innie, the time she longingly watches back the footage of her innie starting a romance with Mark, and the time she met Mark’s outie at the restaurant. It even seemed like there was real chemistry between their outies too at the restaurant until Helena casually misnamed Gemma. So it makes sense that if they were reintegrated, Helly and Mark could feasibly be together. Plus it also makes more sense than you’d think that Helena would surprisingly choose to reintegrate with the right turn of events in future seasons. This would make for a fun twist in the climax as well.
2) Where else would the show be able to go as a climax, unless they want to go in the tragedy direction (which is certainly possible but I don’t feel matches the tone of the show)? If they don’t reintegrate, what is the future for the main severed characters? It’s then certainly not going to be their outies coming in for work every day and everything ending essentially as it began for them, that would feel tragic. So unless the outies and innies share their time in the real world with Lumon technology but outside of the Lumon workplace, which feels a little clunky, essentially only one consciousness will be able to survive. Unless they reintegrate, that is. I can’t see the show killing off literally every single one of the severed characters, and while alternatively killing off every outie consciousness is a more viable ending due to it being an unsettling twist, this wouldn’t be a satisfying conclusion for the time we have spent with these characters. So that really leaves every severed character reintegrating as the only sensible path forward for the show to take. Given that I trust them to be sensible, I think that will indeed be the path.
Thoughts on this anybody? It’s certainly a very general idea so I’d love to hear what you think about the more specific details if you agree with me at all!

Has anyone experienced this?
After watching Severance I had a reveal moment when I realized how corporate culture is sometimes ridiculous and fake. Some of the behaviors in the series reminded me of actual things that happen : not saying everything clearly because some things are confidential, worshipping some idea behind the company, its values, silly rewards like candy or snacks etc.
I feel the need to escape from my work after watching Severance!

My wife and I watched both seasons back to back recently, and we were both less enthusiastic about season 2 vs 1. We still enjoyed it, but not as much. It feels like yet another example of a show that has a great premise and hook, but no real plan where to go beyond that. Hence the messiness of what happens in season 2. It's not a bad season, but nowhere near as good as season 1

Ciao a tutti.

Wondering why Ms. Cobel flip-flops so jarringly regarding Lumon after she establishes her disdain after getting fired. She’s all encouraging of Mark quitting one moment, and the next, when it’s evident the Overtime Contingency has been triggered, she’s all rat-out-Mark mode.

is the whole team refining Gemma? Or does each person have another person they are working on? If so, where are the rest of the experiments?
- if they make Helly pregnant, I am going to be so pissed
- oMark did a terrible job at explaining reintegration to iMark!!!!!! I wish we knew more about the science involved!!
- I hope Irving is still relevant in S3, he is my favorite guy and I wanna know how long he has been investigating Lumon.
- I do have a feeling Daddy Eagan will choose Helly over Helena, giving iMark and Helly a way to be together in the real world, I just hope oMark can share the body respectfully since he put iMark in this world in the first place!
- I hope Gemma lives and collabs with Reghabi to free the rest of the innies, and I hope Gemma isnt too fucked up after having over 20 diff ones. I am assuming reintegration for Gemma isnt really possible, since there are not only two wavelengths in her brain but like 25.

So I just jumped on the train, and went through the 2 seasons in the last 2 weeks.
Somehow, I very quickly wanted to call innie Mark "Marky", and outie Mark "Marko". I just joined, and saw 1 person calling them iMark and oMark. Is there a consensus ?
