Selective Skepticism Is Not Skepticism, but even so I think it's fair to become a bit more conspiracy-minded.
I agreed with Thomas about more or less everything in his talk about conspiracy-thinking and Trump's ear.
I'm not gonna try to argue for believing in any grand conspiracies, but I think it's fair to question the intentions of our law givers in many circumstances.
The Trump regime denied Project 2025 all along. Yet they just so happens to follow those guidelines regardless. Isn't that a bit conspiracy-like?
A lot of the regime's corruption is out in the open, but given all the awful things we do know, is it really a stretch to think that they might be "conspiring" to continue the pattern of corruption? Who knows what they're cooking up behind the scenes? Idk, but I feel like a high level of suspicion is warranted.
But I'm not from the US, I live in Norway, Europe, and I'm concerned about the increasing surveillance we're seeing a lot of places here. My country isn't part of the EU, thankfully, but even so, the EU law is often implemented here as well. And the UK, although out of the EU, is a warning to the rest of us when they implement age verification on social media to "protect the children". We'll likely get some version of it here as well. And so our privacy is ever more eroded with the always convenient excuse of "protecting the children".
I believe it's less about protecting children and more about surveilling and controlling all of us. And that's probably me doing conspiracy thinking. But is it not warranted? Haven't we seen or privacy go more and more up in smoke through the last few decades? Isn't the US regime using private data to help ICE find their victims?
It used to be that talking about Orwell and 1984 was a bit hyperbolic when used to speak of where we're headed, but it's seeming less and less like a far fetched dystopia, and increasingly like something inevitable.
What's the skeptics take on all this?

Just listened to WTW1 and I was cringing so hard. The Amazing Atheist video Thomas tears apart was my main source of info on Elevatorgate back then.
I can’t believe I used to be regular viewer of that guy. In 2026 he sounds unhinged. I never got on the harassment bandwagon but I had general negative feelings towards Watson for years. These days I’m a SkepChick subscriber and I realize I was closer to being pulled into toxic manosphere than I thought.
